1/16 nitro, .07 sh pull start
No matter where I look I can't find either an electric start adapter, or a new pull start for this enigne. Everyone is out of stock. Any ideas what to do short of buying a new engine? I've tried numerous times to rewind the exisitng starter without success. david

RE: Blur engine madness
Thanks guys, I found the low speed needle right where it should have been. It was so tight I thought it was only used th ehold on the throttle bracket. After setting it two turns out the motor ran a lot better, and after some tweaking to eliminate a little stall on tip in ran very well, right up to the point the pull start broke.

Blur engine madness
The only way I can keep the enigne running is to set the high speed needle WAY rich, like 6 turns out. I can't find a low speed needle. It will run ok until the engine heats up, then it dies. I'm sure someone can tell me where the low speed needle is, and how to keep the engine running. Thanks

RE: Engine won't start
It's most likely the glow plug. I doubt you did any real engine damage, depending on how long it ran. Get a new glow plug, make sure it glows, then install it and have fun.

Tornado EPX shock removal
The lower shock mounts are pins pressed through the lower control arm. How can I remove them? Should I drill out the pin and later replace it with a nut and bolt? One of my shocks has a bent shaft and needs tbe fixed or replaced.

tornado rpx tires and axles
I want to fit much larger tires on my Tornado EPX. The motor has already been updraded and I'll adjust the gear ratio as necessay. What is the hex size and offset for the Tornado? Can you suggest a monster truck tire that fits. Oh yes, what about upgrades for things like axles. Are they available? Thanks, David

It happens with different batteries, so I suspect the ESC cutoff my be set too high, like for Niimh cells. I'll reset it and see what happens. Thanks for your info. It did help.

Tornado EPx loses power and/or stops
My new stock Tornado loses power after about 5 minutes, Eventually it will get full power again for a few seconds, then lose power again. Sometimes it stops completely. Motor temp was 137, ESC was 105 , battery was 103 degrees. That seems ok to me but it acts like an overheat mode. I'm using a 3800 milliamp 7.4 lipo. Any ideas on what to do short of replacing the electronics? david

RE: E-Flite F-15 Eagle
I should have one of these on the UPS truck tomorrow. I'll be adding rudders and I will take pictures of what/how I added them. Just looking at pictures I think the two rudder servos will mount in the bottom of the wings, right next to the fuselage. The tail fins are really small and the "rudder" area even smaller. I'll probably cut the fin from top to bottom so the rudder portion is 1/3 the total length of the fin, measured at the root. I'll have pics this weekend.

RE: CMP Katana 72" COG problem
Oops, you are right. The HS65's went in a PA Extra 260, and the Katana got HS625's I think (not at home now) . The Hitec Hi torque metal gear version. The battery is not in until I figure out the CG thing. The instructions say the CG is 100-120mm back measured at 242mm from the centerline. I'll try it upside down ... and at 150 from the fuse. David

CMP Katana 72" COG problem
I'm building a CMP 72" Katana using a G26 engine. The engine needed 7/8" standoffs to put the prop backplate right outside of the cowl. With this heavy engine I expected the plane to be very nose heavy. It's very tail heavy instead!!! The COG is so far back that I think I must have something set up wrong. The only weight in the tail are the three Hitec 65MG servos. The COG is supposed to be 100-120mm from the leading edge. It's more like 145 instead. I really don't want to add more weight to the nose if I can help it. The radio gear is not installed yet but it's not heavy enough to balance the plane. Any ideas? Thanks, David

RE: Radio options for 39
There are several ways to go, but none are "cheap". The minimum you'll be ok with is one of the 6 channel radios (I still like JR). Next up is maybe the Eclipse 7, which I have. It's not bad but I wish it had a few more features. The there are the 8 channel radios, 9 channel, and aove. If you really enjoy RC it's worth buying one decent transmitter now that will work for many models. I think you can save some money right now reusing the Walkera servos. They aren't half bad with a good transmitter and receiver. Of course if the budget allows you can go with the standard HS-56s. I've been using Helihobby and have no complaints at all, but I haven't ordered from any of the other "big" shops lke DeeTee, etc. David

RE: Inexpensive Li-poly charger recommendation
Although the Hobbico will charge other battery types at up to 2amps, Lipos are clipped to 1 amp according to the instructions. I assume this is for safety purposes. The charge rate should only affect charge time and not the "quality" of the charge.

RE: Spinning
While it's on the ground it's harder for it to spin (gravity). Check the servo and gyro direction. With the rudder at neutral look at the tail blades. Now move the rudder stick left. The tail blade angle should change such that the leading edge of the top blade moves more left. It helps me to imagine the tail changing to blow more air to the left. Once that is correct move the tail to the left and observe which way the gyro moves the tail blades and/or the rudder servo. Correct the gyro direction if necessary.

RE: Heli Electronics
I like the JR8103 or 9303. Obviously the 9303 is better, but the 8103 really has everything you need. If you order directly from horizonhobbies.com you can get a "custom" JR package with micro servos and the small R700 recevier. Otherwise you'll get full size servos.

T-Rex mixer block too tight on pins
My new T-Rex is almost perfect, except the block that the lower mixer arms connect too is too tight where it rides on the pins from the rotor hub. How can I fix this? I've tried gently squeezing/expanding the pins, but I don't want to damage those!!

RE: CANT GET ALIGN GYRO TO WORK
As far as I can tell there is no way to turn off revo mixing with the Walkera radio, which could be screwing up the gyro. Also, and I realize you probably already know this, but check the mounting direction of the gyro. I just set up a Telebee and mounted it wrong the first time. The gain and LED need to be on the side, not the top!!

Which JR servos? Receiver
I'm about to order a JR8103, but which servos should I get? The S241 or S341? These will go in a Blade or a T-Rex. Also, should I get the R700 receiver (7 channel) or the R610UL (6 channel)?

Heli choice
Guys (and gals if necessary), I have an X-Cell 60 Graphite that I love, but it's a little too big to fly at home. Is there an electric that will be even half as stable? I'd really like something to fly indoors if possible. Is the T-Rex too big for that? David

Battery upgrade??
My 22A barely has enough power to lift. More pitch just slows down the rotor speed, too. I think a battery change should fix that, but I'm nout sure which way to go. Right now it's a 650mah Nimh. Should I go to an 11.2v LiPo? If I do that will the LiPo burn out the receiver? Oh yeah, it's a brushed motor. Thanks, David

RE: 22A skids left, how to fix
The cyclic has no effect on the ground, and I'm not real comfortable with a 3 ft left skid every time it lifts. I think I've got it figured out now. I also have an X-Cell 60 that really can do a hands free hover in calm air (for a little while). The 22A doesn't have Bell-Hiller mixing, so the flybar is the only thing affecting pitch/roll. With Bell-Hiller mixing the blade pitch itself will change. That should work much better on the ground :) Now the question is is there an indoor sized electric that can be made to fly as well as my X-Cell?

My 22A always skids left before liftoff. How can I adjust this? The cyclic doesn't seem to have any control until the heli actually lifts off the floor. Do I need need more weight on the flybar?

Hornet/22A tail output shaft replacement
My wonderful new 22A came with about a 30 bend in the tail shaft, and of course it snapped when I tried to straighten it. I've ordered a couple of replacements already. Do these just press in to the gear and hub? Is it worth getting an all metal tail assembly? David

RE: how to balance blades
First you need to make the center of gravity the same on both blades. Balance the flat of the blade on a nail or other round object, and mark the balance point. Now do the same for the other blade. Lay the blades side by side and figure out which CG needs to move. Adding weight at one end move the CG closer to that end. Make the CG's match. Now you need to make the blades weigh the same amount. There are several ways to do this. One of the easiest is to use a bolt to bolt the two blades end to end, and balance the whole thing over a pencil at the bolt. Add weight AT THE CG of the lighter blade. Adding weight at the CG won't change the CG.
