RE: dead engine?
If you have plenty of pinch yet when you turn the fly wheel by hand you might just have a tuning issue and the engine is to rich. I would put it up on a block and try to get the engine to heat up with the glow plug starter on the engine when it is running and tune it. What size is the engine and what temp is the glow plug. If it is a big block engine you can run a medium plug or if it is a .18 engine run a hot plug. I have seen a glow plug that was working when I put it on a glow starter but when I tried to run it on the engine it would just die when I took off the starter.

RE: use gas dry and baby oil in place of nitro fuel
I don't use any nitro in my fuel. It takes a little longer to warm up but the engine runs great on it. The tune is different then regular hobby store fuel but when you find the sweet spot the engine runs great. I only use methonal and klotz oil. The engine does not run hot on my mix.

RE: use gas dry and baby oil in place of nitro fuel
I bought a drum of methanol (for drag racers) from the car shop and used klotz synthetic for ethanol and the truck runs great. Here is a video running on the mix in my modifed aftershock. Mixing my own fuel is half the price of buying it at the hobby shop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9owSi6NNaM

RE: HPI BAJA 5B STARTING PROBLEM
Get a new plug and with the plug out of the engine turn the car so the spark plug hole is facing the ground and pull the engine over a few times and see if it blows out excess fuel. It might be flooded and you have excess fuel and oil in the crank case. Then put in the new spark plug and try pulling it over a couple of times. Make sure you don't over choke the engine because it will flood it. To much gas on the plug will prevent it from starting.

RE: Question about the Walbro 668 Carb!
The carb has a screen filter in the bottom of the carb to catch dirt and sand when it is pulled in the bottom of the carb. Excess fuel is pumped out the top return line.

RE: Steering problem
Try seeing if the wheels go straight when the front end is off the ground. I could be the servo saver not letting the tires go back straight. You try and tighten the servo saver to see if the steering works better.

RE: Duratrax rtx27 engine change
I put in a Axial 32. You will need a sg nut for the sg shaft engine. I also picked up a ofna clutch bell shim kit to fit the duratrax clutch bell on the engine. I filed a very small amout of the tranny support so the screw on the end of the sg shaft would not rub. The motor will line up with the motor mount holes without any problems. I also picked up some clutch bell bearings without the flange on them.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
I replaced my engine in the warhead with an axial 32. I think the temp problems are related to poor airflow thru the body. I made a large hole in the wind shield and the temps stayed lower. I also have a raze buggy with the same super tigre engine and it would go up to 280 max. I put on a nova cooling head on the raze engine and the temps are around 200 with the nova head. You get a lot more cooling around the engine on the raze buggy. My raze has a lot of get up and go and the engine has run great since I bought it. I have not done anything to the raze engine like sealing it. The nova head I bought off ebay was a great investment.

When I tear down my truck I put all the parts in dish soap and hot water. I use a small scrub brush. When I was the tank I dry it off and leave it to dry for a while.

RE: axial engine help please
Also check the HSN and make sure it is not loose. I replaced the rubber seals on mine when my MSN almost fell out. I was having tuning issues and when I picked up the seal kit for the Axial 32 my engine would hold a better tune and had better temps.

Looks good and if it comes with the seals on it like in the picture you are ready to go. Set the needle flush with the carb.

I had the same problem. Make sure it has a rubber Oring on the new needle. I had to get a seal kit and replace all the the rings on the needles. Mine was a new engine also.

one warning. Wear safety glass when you do it. The spring will fly out of the casing like a rocket it you loose your grip on it.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
ORIGINAL: JayRec Has anyone who swapped the stock motor for the Axial tried using the stock pipe with it? I tried to hook it up but the darn thing doesnt fit! It is slightly smaller than the back end of the Axial. I am wondering if it is just the silicone gasket that is too thick. Any ideas? Also on another note, to all who have tried to get the Axial .28 to fit into this truck I share your frustrations. It isnt just a straight drop in. A straight drop in is just that, unscrew the old engine and screw the new one in start it up and go! Not angling carbs or dremeling stuff to make it fit. It is certainly doable it just takes money or some ingenuity. I opted for the money route. I bought an HPI carb that fits great (no spur gear rubbing) and a new clutch kit from Duratrax. I have put it all together and test fitted it but have yet to actually put the Axial in and start it up. The stock engine seems to be working well now so I am holding off, plus I need an exhaust that will fit.
I used the stock duratrax stock muffer and header with the axial 32 engine. I just used the stock seal, using a dremel tool with a smooth sander wheel and I took off a small amount of the bump on the outside of the seal. I took off small amounts and keep fitting it until I got a good fit. I have also used these ones and they fit nice with my axial engine and HT exhaust. http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=DYNP5528 These seal are a better fit then the duratrax ones.

RE: how to take off a flywheel
ORIGINAL: PeeBeMe Hi guys, I'm having some problems taking off my flywheel, what other tools can you use from in your house that can help take off a flywheel if don't have right tools?
I use the duratrax flywheel wrench to hold the flywheel from moving while using a socket wrench and then once the nut is off hit the flywheel all around the outside with a handle of a screw driver. This method works ever time. DTXR1105

RE: twitching servo
I had a problem like that and it turned out to be a bad servo. The vibrations from the engine would make the servo move by itself.

I did the same thing and bought a couple sets and I am still on the first set. Well worth the 15 bucks I spent on the set. Supra sales tires are well worth the low cost.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
Watch the rubber boot on the carb does not rub on the alumunum body side. I used a dremel tool to make clearance for the carb when it opens up full throttle.

RE: Anyone Own a RT-X 27?
Just loosen up the carb locking screw and rotate the carb clockwise until the HSN clears the spur gear by a couple of millimeters. The carb linkage will clear just fine withe the odd angle and the engine will run just fine. The axial engine will fit just fine. My axial 32 can pull wheelies and tear up my diffs when I drive it to hard on the pavement.

RE: engines gone tight??? plz help.
ARO is after run oil and you buy it at the local hobby shop. If that doesn't work you might need to take the engine apart and find out what is binding.
