RE: What is a
here in australia we have a permit to fly turbine jets. first thing the turbine inspector does is inspect your plane to make sure it has been put together properly.then checks every thing that works works properly. then he checks that you know how to start and stop it.then if he is happy he will certify it then he checks you flying it and makes sure your safe doing it and if he is happy then he will certify you to be able to fly the jet .the cert last for 3 years and after 3 years you do it all over again

RE: Is Gas Engines a Fad?
people put alot of mystic voodoo of sorts on rurbine jets. really there is none. they fly like any other planes ,they take off they loop they stall turn they barrel roll etc. they only thing is the time lag in accel. little faster but have seen some prop jobbies go quicker there is such a thing called a throttle some land different than others i fly all three types of powered aircraft. in jets there are some people that can go straight to scale aircraft and some people to jet trainers insted.to me it is all in the mind set. there is a old saying if you don't want to crash don't fly...going from a prop job to a jet is a big step to some and could be quite exy but the same can be said about some prop jobs like a imac model. it is the starting outlay. now i do beleive that you should start out on a prop job and work your way up any way just mt 2 cents worth

RE: Heads up elevator failure JetLegent Hawk
my mate paid alot of money for a edge 540 from carf and the way that they glued the under carrage in is a joke. Practidby (sorry for bad spelling) came out at first landing. The landing was very soft no bounce no thud anything it torn the aircrft and put holes in the wings. my prides himself on his landings. he also has a ultra lightning from them and not sure of the quality build by carf any more because of the poor quality of workmanship by carf ie lack of glue for a start. now my mate has fixed the u/c problem with carbon fibre and good epoxy which is the way it should have been done in the first place.. to me they should stop using the hot glue gun and cheap glue and materials on a/c which are supposed to be high quality

RE: Which radio?
i found that with over 40 years in this hobby. started when i was 10 on control line most problems are with set up. take your time and get your set up right and all is good but miss something your aircraft will not perform. i use a dsm9 2.4 and had no problems with it at all. i use a three satalite system set up right

RE: The most common problem with air systems in jets?
i always use metal fittings so all that i do when having to remove air tubing is use a cigarette lighter and warm up the tubing at the fitting to soften it

RE: Discrimination against jet flyers . . .
at my place where i fly there is 7 clubs just under 300 members. spprox 60 per cent old timers.we do get some jet jocks who think that their sh*t don't stink. but the atitude of some old timers is if the jet flyers want longer runways that they should pay for it themselfs. We have 3 runways 2 are 130 metres long at apprx 10 metres wide 1 at approx 60 metres long all bitueman. you can land sport jets like the boomerang etc but hard for some scale like the f18 etc. the club is about 18 years old and needs up grading. we even had a struggle to change the constition so we can get grants so we can up grade.it is ok for 40 to 60 size nitro models . as soon you put a wheel off you rip out a u/l. my club 90 per cent don;t mind jets as we will fly with them and we look out for each other

RE: Do expoxies weigh different?
if you can get it there try techniglue. it is a two part glue mixed at 2 to 1 ratio. it is water base so any spillage between joints can be cleaned up with a wet rag. it is a 24 hour cure it is light weight and can be pigmentated and sanded. if anything breaks it will break around the glued joint .it is that strong, i use it on my jets so that is how much i trust it

RE: steering gyro
gyros are good but it you set the nose wheel up properly and put some expo in it it should not need a gyro. I have never needed one yet. In some planes you may need one on the flying surfaces. on most of the jets that I have seen there was to much steerig I don't use alot of seering movement just enough to steer it. I use approx 10 mm and it is enough to turn the plane around on a 7 metre wide runway. I just find to much steeing causes the hassales
