RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
ORIGINAL: ThunderbirdJunkie
ORIGINAL: de_savage Well, so far I hate my savage x. Blown a spur gear, lost a bunch of pins. Killed my roto start 2, stripped a steel gear in a servo, stripped the original servo. Drill wont start it. Guess it will be an ornament on the floor now. [:@]
that all sounds like operator error. should've kept your slipper and gear mesh intact

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
My truck seemed pretty easy first tank of gas. Had to adjust both lsn and hsn. Was about -15 c in my garage when I ran first tank through. Never went over 270. by 3/4 tank through it never went over 220-230. All in all I would say it was easier than expected. Never put second tank through as temp dropped to -20c outside.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
ORIGINAL: 4 stroken ron Just got my X yesterday. I broke my motor in today. Easiest motor I've ever broken in. One tank up on blocks at very slow RPM. 2nd tank on the ground going slowly. 3rd tank started leaning it out, little at a time. By the time 4th tank through it was running GREAT. Never touched LS, never got over 225 degrees. Now after 4 tanks of fuel it runs PERFECT. A few posts back someone was worried about the HPI steering servo not turning front wheels, and not very good brakes. I had the same issues. I put a Futaba 3010 on the steering (it is what I had laying here) and moved the HPI steering servo up to throttle/brake. Problem solved, now it steers great and the brakes are fine as well. The HPI FS-2 steering servo has more torque than the FS1 and will apply the brakes. BTW the brakes are GREAT on this truck (now). I am really impressed with this truck. A keeper. The only thing I have a question about is, What is this? (see attachment) Ron
Yes I was thinking of switching the servos. Hubby started taking it apart, seemed to be a bit of a hassle to get to. will work on it tomorrow. Thanks to all for the info.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
thanks for the info Bill, I will work on that tomorrow and let you know after work. Hoping it will help although I am sure I will upgrade that radio as soon as I can. Suppose I will order some extra spur gears while Im at it! Also thinking about getting a centre skid plate. Seems like it may be needed for the bashing I want to do! Biggest thing right now is getting my radio and servos working so I can start break in

RE: bad servo???
Just got my first rc... Savage X... pretty cool if the servos worked. Anyone got any ideas? I have tried three different hump packs and the battery holder and switched the batteries in the radio. There is like no power. If I lift the front end the wheels move but not if they are on the ground. I'll take any suggestions thanks![&o]

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
I'm not using the holder. I have tried three different hump packs. Wheels turn ok if I lift the front end, but if the wheels are on the ground I get nothing! Not seeming so exciting for my first truck. My husbands seems so cool. wish mine would work!!!
