Revo 3.3 REverse Problem
So I went to put my truck in reverse last night and it wouldn't work. It would rev like there was a neutral, then if I rolled it or picked it up, it would slip into gear (the servo was working properly). But once I tried to get it to move, it would jerk a couple times, then rev again. I am thinking I stripped a gear, but I have not really been that hard on it. If I do need to replace a gear, should I get metal or replace with plastic? My fear with metal is that if this happens again, instead of stripping the gears it will break something else. Should that be a concern? Also, should I replace my forward gears with metal while I have the transmission open?

Help With Roll Cage & Bodies
I want to add a roll cage to my Revo 3.3 but want to be able to still use both stock and aftermarket bodies. The aftermarket bodies I am interested in are the Proline Dodge Ram and Ford F series bodies. Does anyone know what roll cage will allow me to use those 2 as well as stock bodies?

Revo 3.3 RPM Problem
So I just finished breaking in my Revo 3.3 and something odd started happening. The engine had to rev really high to get any forward movement, does the same in reverse. Won't get much speed and very obviously sounds like something is not right. Shut it off right away. I have not been doing anything crazy with it but it seems like it is already broken. Is there an adjustment I need to make, I was thinking the clutch. Just checking here before I start messing with it.

Getting back into flying - what radio
Hello, I got out of RC flight about 4 years ago when my son was born, now he is seen an RC plane and liked it so it looks like I am going to get back into flying. My question is what has changed in transmitters and any recommendations on what to get. I would like one that can handle a few different planes and have exponential and dual rates. Also, I like Futaba. Thanks in advance for any help. Dean

74" EF Yak Fuel Tank
What is everyone using for a fuel tank for the 74" EF Yak and where are you putting it? I am putting a Brillelli 46 in mine. My first thought was right up front in or slightly behind the engine box. After trying to get a couple tanks in there, there is not enough clearance. Where are you putting your tanks? Pics would be great also.

RE: Best YAK for 46CC Gasser
I think it is down to the 74" EF or 73" QQ. I have heard nothing bad about either. Is either one more durable? I fly off grass so if one can handle that better, that would be my decision maker.

How is the quality of the Goldberg model? I had an EF 68" Yak and it was the best plane I ever flew so I know what to expect with EF. And I have heard nothing but good about the QQ models. Does the Goldberg have any bad habits?

Best YAK for 46CC Gasser
I want to get a Yak for my Brillelli 46cc gas engine, but not sure which is the best fit. I know EF has a 77", Somenzini has a 73" and 85" and I think there are a few others. Which will be the best fit for my engine and be 3D capable?

I think I really messed up
Well, I think I have a problem. I just took the weights off of my newly sheeted OMP 80" Edge profile fuse and it is really warped. I knew I had a less than perfect building surface, so before sheeting, I put supports under the surface until it was perfectly flat. Next I applied the glue as directed, lined everything up, put it together and put a few hundred pounds on it. Apparently, my supports must not have held because when I removed all of the weight and examined the fuse, it has about a 3/4" warp right in the middle. I know the problem is not the kit, but the builder and I swear this is my last kit. I may not even finish this one for fear that it will me so messed up it will be when complete that it will not fly. Any ideas here? Anyone want to take what's left off my hands? Only thing I used was the foam core, sheeting and radio compartment and servo ply doublers. At least I know I will always be an ARF guy from now on.

The other guys out there said a couple other people have crashed and could have gotten hit, but we have never really had a problem. I have personally never had a problem either. Plus, no one else was on my channel that day.

RE: 74" Edge now in 8 pieces - WHY?
I thought about the y connector also, I already pitched it. I did reconnect everything and it all worked correctly. This was a new plane. I flew it once before with a glow engine. This was the first flight with the gas engine and the antenna routed differently.

RE: 74" Edge now in 8 pieces - WHY?
I was flying about 1/4-1/3 throttle, so I think I had enough airspeed, but maybe not. When it went in, it was pretty far away and it is entirely possible I misjudged airspeed. I think at the end, there might have been some dumb thumbs, but only after I knew I was not going to be able to recover it. Up to that point, I am pretty confident I did everything right. As for my setup, it had a 46cc gas engine with EI, all located in the front. The ignition switch, battery and throttle servo also were in the front. My receiver, main switch and battery were all located close to the middle of the plane 12-18 inches from the engine and its electronics. The rudder and elevator servos were all in the tail. I flew it for maybe 5 or so minutes with no problem. Each aileron had its own servo in its' respective wing half. One rudder servo and 2 elevator servos working off 1 channel and a y splitter. Everything checked out fine on the ground, and again the plane flew ok for the first portion of the flight. Stock control arms and metal pushrods, except for the throttle. My first thought was the battery, but when I checked it at home, it was almost fully charged. Throttle servo was a Hitec 425 and all others were 625. 4.8v ignition battery and a 6v main battery. Based on the fact it did a couple things that I did not give inputs to, I am still thinking the antenna routing was the problem.

74" Edge now in 8 pieces - WHY?
Well, my 74" Edge is now in way more pieces that it is supposed to be. It was acting a little weird during the flight today, but not enough to think much of it. Then, at one corner of the field, it rolled and dove but I was able to recover. I decided to land and went back across the field to start my approach. At the turnaround point, it seemed like I was losing some control. It would do something and I would recover, until it got to close to the tree line and went in. When I got home and stripped it, I reconneced the electronics and everything worked fine. My only guess is the routing of the antenna was the problem. The receiver was about in the middle of the plane. I routed the antenna to the back along one side, then back up towards the front on the other. Could this have caused my crash?

RE: 80" Edge construction question
Mike - regarding the hatch. I was trying to determine if I glue the hatch into the foam like the wing tube supports. It sort of sounded like I was supposed to, but did not make sense. After seeing your answer and reviewing the instructions, it sounds like all I glue into the foam are the inserts, which I assume are rails that the hatches screw into. Correct? As for servo trays, do those get glued into the foam, or do rails they screw into get glued into the foam?

80" Edge construction question
I am building the 80" Edge and have a some questions about the battery and rx hatches. First, I am putting a Brillelli 46 on this, and it is supposed to weight 55oz with muffler, mounts and ingition. Should I wait to make hatches for the batteries and ignition until I can assemble everything and know where these items will need to go for balance? If this is the case, then I would apply sheeting, cut hatch openings and install rails under the sheeting close to the end of assembly, but prior to covering correct? Second, is the ply hatch mentioned early on that is recessed into the foam the back side of the compartment? If it is recessed and glued in, what is its function? Or, is it supposed to be covered and screwed into rails that are recessed? Thanks in advance.

I have a 68" Extreme Flight Yak that I am close to retiring because I am going to gassers and it is to small for the engine I chose. I have flown it for a full season and it shows a little wear, but it has never been crashed and flies great. I live in Ohio and would take 160-170 for it. However, I really don't want to ship it to avoid damage. Let me know if you are interested.

What is the wingspan on your Wildhare Edge? What is the typical wingspan range that will do 3D with a 50cc? From what I have seen, it is usually in the 80s, is that correct?

RE: What size engine
It is a Yellow Aircraft with a wingspan of about 74". Unfortunately it appears that Yellow no longer carries this model. I was thinking of an OS 160 but wanted the fuel effieciency of a gasser. But I already have a 40cc on the way for an 80" OMP profile and although a 40 is a good choice for that plane, I do not want 2 of the same engine. I liked the idea of the 50 because of the large number of planes that will take a 50. Maybe I should sell this Edge. It only flew once, along with the Saito 1.80 I have in it now.

After looking around RCU some more, I found that there are not a lot of planes for 30-40cc, but a ton for a 50cc. Would it makes sense to stuff a 50 into this Edge so that when I retire it, I have more options for a 50cc?

What size engine
I have a 120 Edge that I am looking for an engine for. I like Saito 4 strokes, but at this size, I want something much more fuel efficient. I am considering a 30-40cc gasser, or a 1.20-1.60 2 stroke. Based on initial cost and fuel costs, what fuel and size should I go with? My first thought was a GMS 120 due to having good luck with GMS, and their low cost. I know it will not do 3d, which is fine. I considered an OS 160, but at that price, I could pay a little more for a 30-40cc gasser. I just want a good overall performing engine for basic flight. 3D power is not necessary. Thanks in advance.

80" Edge - tough or easy build?
I am looking for a winter project and like what I hear about the big Edge. I am normally and ARF guy, but want something that will take longer than an ARF. How tough is this kit to build? The last time I built a profile, it ended up with a little curve in the fuse. I am sure it was my fault though. I built my first trainer from a kit, but again, usually buy ARFs. Should I try this kit?

Engine Opinion
I have an EF 68" Yak and a Yellow 74" Edge that I fly with a Saito 1.80. I love the performance of the Saito, but this engine is a huge fuel hog. I would like to replace the Saito with a gas engine, but am not sure if these planes are big enough to take the weight addition. I really like this size range of 70" or so wing spans and want an engine that can preform 3D without breaking my wallet in fuel costs. Would a Zenoah G26 be enough engine for 3D without adding to much weight? Are there any other gas engines out there that I should consider? Thanks in advance.

Need help deciding
I am considering getting an electric heli to fly in my back yard but am confused with all of the choices. Everyone seems to love the T Rex, but the Walkeras have their own sub-forum. I would like to stay below $500 for everthing. I have a Raptor 50 with a Futaba 9C, so that amount does not need to include a transmitter. So far, I have only hovered my Raptor, so I want an electric that is not overly sensitive, but that I can grow with.
