I would try a little CA to hold it in place, then drill a hole through and pin it like you do the hinges. Del

RE: 1/2 Scale Fokker D-8
I won't be doing a full blown build along like I did the Dr.1, I beleave Glenn is planning on doing that since he built the prototype. I will probably do an abbreviated one to show things I might do or add. I'm going to do a three piece wing, I've got an idea on how to do that and still keep the scale integrity of the ply panels. Also will probably do the paintball gun thingy. I expect it to be a fun build as usual. Check with Glenn on the cost, I would have to check my CC card invoice as I don't remember the exact cost, I don't want to risk putting the wrong number out. Del

I agree Glen, why not, the dowels are so cheap and for no other reason just frame up another fuselage and leave it bare bones. Del

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker
The 300 was plenty of power, good climb out rate, as for vertical, don't really remember how that was. You could do some simple aerobabics with it, (no 3D stuff). It did an awesome lomshavock (sp), kind of in slow motion. I guess you culd get a little more action out of it by doing the clip wing version and maybe taking some of the dihedrial out of the wing. To me it was like flying a low wing cub. Lots of fun. Del

RE: Sig 1/3 Spacewalker
I built a 1/3 Spacewalker back around '86 with an OS 300 Twin, great engine plane combo. Flew it for 17 years and had a ball with it. Sold it a couple years ago when I got into WW1. The only thing I cut out of the cowl was holes for the cylinders to stick out, I then split the cowl on the centerline of the cylinders. Worked out real well. I had some pictures, but they're on my old hard drive that crashed. [&o] Have fun with it. Del

RE: GTM 1/3 DVI build
Your splices look real good. One way you can avoid having to splice is to go to Lowes or Home Depot and get four foot long 5/16" dowels. That's what I did on my 1/3 Dr.1 and will do the same thing on the 1/3 DVIII I just got. Great build [sm=thumbup.gif] Del

RE: 1/2 Scale Fokker D-8
Hi Tom, I'm thinking of doing the same scheme as my 1/4 scale: I really like that scheme, plus I'm a big fan of the unit marking of Jasta 6, i.e. the cowl, stab and wheel covers. Not sure about the engine yet, will most likely be a twin cyl. (I hate that chainsaw sound of the single cylinders). I have a Roto 70 twin in the Dr.1, flies it great with power to spare. Probably won't get to start on it right away as I haven't gotten my shop set up yet after our move last fall. (Well, maybe I can start on the smaller stuff like putting the cowl together, subwing, rudder and maybe make up the hinges, etc). Later Del

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along
I used Nelsons Lite Fab (i've heard that it's the same thing as Solar Tex) on mine. The Z74 twin should do just fine. The reason I went with a twin on mine is you don't have that "chainsaw" sound that you have with a single. Just my preferance. Del

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along
Hi Steve, The one I built was the prototype for the kit, yes it is a very good kit as are all his others. The first thing I do after checking out all the parts is lay the plans out on a table or floor and go over them a couple times to get a good idea how everything goes together. Just take your time and make sure everything is square and true. I think you'll like the build. Have fun. Del

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along
Sadams..........Always happy to help when I can. I used the Roto 70 Twin (no longer available, the ZDZ 80 would work just fine). It's pretty much designed around a 65cc size engine, so really what ever your engine preferance is will be just fine. Del
