RE: New DLE 35
ORIGINAL: mikes68charger I don't see the point for a motor this small to have 4 bolts. I have a DLE30 that I pulled out earlyer this year and it back fired at 1800rpms with a Xora 18X10 and broke off all 4 bolts. Then this week I was working on a PTE36R wich started acting fun and backfired at 5k with a Xora 20X6 prop and throw the prop 30feet onto the wall of my house. It broke them 2-3mm below the hub so takeing them out was going to be a pain. I perfer a single bolt, if it backfires the prop brakes loose but will not come off the shaft.
The single bolt prop adapter that Valley View RC sells for the DLE-30 will work on the DLE-35RA, if you order it with an engine they will install it for you free. http://www.valleyviewrc.com/estore/accessories/propeller-adapters.html

How long does that high surface charge last before becoming 6.6, and are there unregulated volatage to servo issues with that set up??? Danno
With the batshare inline your rx will never see 7+ volts. Around 6.7 should be the max.
I have been testing the A123 batteries for over a year now on a 50cc airplane and find nothing but great things to say about them. I started with 2- 2600mAh packs, a battery share from 42% products. and two switches. The 42% products has two outputs on the battery share so I used the second output to power my ingition battery. I can fly 6 flights and still have power left. I have since droped down to one A-123 battery on the same plane and also power the ingition from the same battery and still get 6 flights and still have power left. This set-up has no back up but when did you see a battery go bad? Tom Valley View RC

RE: MT Engines
ORIGINAL: BadAzzMaxx You know some of the funny part about trying to deal with China engine manufactures is I have talked to a lot of them about just selling me the parts and I would do the assembly here. I have the time and enjoy doing it and also know they are assembled right. With the right tools and knowledge you can assemble a engine with taking your time in about 30 minutes, It takes me longer to mount and test run a engine than it does to assemble one, Mount it, install muffler, Install the prop, Test run and set the needles seems to take me a while to do and make sure all is right. Well for some reason, None of them want to do it or either they will price the parts to where they are more than the cost of a assembled engine. ??? The things you have to look for seem to be common in all of them, Striped threads in cases or hall sensor mounting, Threads not cut beep enough to let bolts tighten all the way down, Pistons installed backwards, Prop hub bolts striped out, timing not set right, Carbs that will not draw fuel, Gaskets not installed and a few more I can not think about right now. Just seems like a lot of them think as long as they are put together, Ship them. The funny thing also is they know the threads are striped when they assemble the engine because they will use something that looks like CA glue, Like they put it in the striped thread s and just push the bolt in, First time you go to test or tighten it the bolts comes out will all the I guess CA glue still mounted to it. I have found one company that will sell me parts that are a spin off of DLE parts, I call the engine a DLE-C for DLE clone Lol. So far have had pretty good luck with it but just have not advertised it much until I make they are going to work out. When I get the parts there are some that I do not use because of light casting flows and other minor detail that makes them not look up to par, I take those parts and build engines for local guys I know that just want a good running cheap engine that I know will not blast me for every little detail about them. Milton
Hello Milton, We tried to get Tomy to just sell us the parts for the MT-70 and he refused. It takes Jody about one hour to disassemble an engine, replace or repair what is needed and reassemble the engine. Wouldn’t you think Tomy would do this since Jody put in many hours trying to help make this a good engine? Tom Valley View RC
ORIGINAL: Bladejunkie I just got mine today, and I'm wondering about a Pitts type muffler also.I've run about 24oz of fuel through it so far(takes forever at 3500 rpm's)and it's performance is already improving although I still can't hand start it.I'm going to try it in my trusty old Ultra Stick 60.
ORIGINAL: mpascual
ORIGINAL: FOOPED Tom could you post what the spark plug is. I checked Rimfire 1/4-32 and found out there are different length. That being the length on the thread depth. Also what syn oil to use. Would Bel-Ray be good at 25-1. The engine looks good but I am not going to run it till I have verified a good proven oil for it . I only use penn for air cooled engines so I do'nt know much about sys oils. Thanks Don
Spark plug supplied with JBA 15G is from RCEXL. Very reliable spark plug, and fits well inside spark plug cap of ignition box. All J15G i've tested with Motul 800 synth oil . This oil is ester based hi performance synthetic oil. Sure there are many others brands with similar quality oils. After break-in, always use at least 32:1 oil. Not less. Regards
I thank Mpascual for the information he has given us. Many people use different oils and that is OK. Any good air cooled 2 cycle oil will work fine. What is most important is the ratio that you mix the oil, we use a mixture of 32-1 on all of our engines all the time. We do not change oil mixtures after break in we just continue to use the 32 to 1 mixture. Part of the reason we do this is that we are always running new engines along with our older engines and we only want one gas container. We do use Stihl Ultra synthetic 2 cycle oil in all our gas engines. Tom Valley View RC

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
I do think this is a very good engine, Jody ran it for a long time with different props and it seems to have a lot of power for such a little engine. Many of our customers want to get away from glow due to the high cost of glow fuel and the mess that you get with a glow engine. With these small gas engines it is possible to do that without spending a lot of money. Since we started selling this JBA 15cc engine there has been a lot of interest in it and looks like we may run out before our next shipment gets here, I really like it. Tom Valley View RC

RE: NEW 42% PRODUCT -
ORIGINAL: splais I just received my Zeus to put in a 30cc plane. I got to tell you, it came with the worst set of connection instructions [:@] I've seen on an RC product. There is no way to tell what connects where and which way round the wire goes. After reading several times and looking at the pic in the beginning of this thread I think I got it figured out. Although it did not come with a 24'' (only 12'')lead and I'm going to have to add an extension. Contrary to the picture in the beginning of the thread, my has two Bblk/red/wht leads and one org/red/brwn lead. I think this is the way it goes - could someone confirm: - LED plugs into connector next to soldered input (rx) lead. the white wire is inboard. - The output lead plugs in next to jumpers and the orange wire is outboard. - Lastly, could someone tell me what the 3'' lead with two female ends is for? I'm guessing it is somekind of connector if you ignition has a male end?
You are correct on the way you have it connected and yes the instructions are not very good. I talked Ken Anderson at 42 percent products and he is going to put out a diagram on how to connect the Zeus. Always need to start someplace and improve from there and I believe Ken will be doing just that. Merry Christmas Tom Valley View RC

RE: TBM - One pi$$ed off ex-customer
ORIGINAL: droland Ok, my last post also. 1. Ordered the same motor and it showed in stock at that time. 2. It showed sold out a few minutes after I placed my order also. 3. Got the confirmation email so I expected it would be shipping. 4. Paid with Paypal as you did. I still think this is why we did not get our orders as the paypal orders are processed last. I had a separate second order also paid with paypal and it had not been processed on that 6th day after the order either. 5. Since no one else posted they didn't get this engine, It re-inforces by belief that paying with paypal (as we both did) is the reason. I think what we have learned is that if you pay with paypal at TBM, you go way down the priority list for processing and/or shipping. (That is not the way my online business works, so I didn't expect it.) If it just had not been 6 days before we found out the order was cancelled, it would have been no big deal. And I would not have bought a $300 plane I don't need now. We'll move on now and take the lessons learned into our future hobby purchases. Happy flying.
I am not sure I understand why their Pay Pal payment orders are processed last? We take our web orders paid through Pay Pal the first thing in the morning before any phone orders are taken or processed, the Pay Pal web orders are top priority to us and processed first in the order they came in. This is the only fair way to do it. Tom Valley View RC

RE: NEW 42% PRODUCT -
ORIGINAL: splais I'm going to ask the question no one has asked. My research has shown that many people using 2.4ghz/A123 systems are eliminating the ignition battery without this kind of device. Just running ignition power off a separate lead direct from Rx battery. Not arguing here, just learning. Would any of you care to comment. thanks.
There is no problem doing this, I have been doing this for almost a year now with no problems but I did add a regulator going to the ignition module. The A123 batteries peak out at over 7V when charged and some ignition systems will not take that much voltage for very long. What the Zeus adds to this set-up is a voltage regulator, Opto-Gas Kill features but most of all a remote kill switch for safety. Well worth the price. Tom Valley View RC
