RE: Monsoon XTR
Dads, I am somewhat new (just over a year) to the hobby, but from what I understand the % is the nitro and the higher the nitro the lower the oil should be. You should actually run hotter on 30% in theory anyway.

RE: Motor starts, then quickly dies
Its not unusual for a glow plug to burn out during break in. There cheap and an easy fix. If that doesnt work bag it and use it again. Air leaks are a pain and checking for them is just as bad. Basically take the motor aparrt and seal it up as you put it back together. Check youtube for a video guide of doing it.

RE: Motor starts, then quickly dies
Your plug could still be on the way out. If the filiment does not full glow you should change it. Get some extra anyway and try one just to be sure, for somewhere between 5 and 8 bucks it is worth a shot. My first RedCat would run until it warmed up and then it would shut off. I found out I had some air leaks, it is not a bad idea to seal around the carb with high temp gasket sealer just to make sure. Air leaks can be very tricky and can cause a ton of different symtems.

RE: RC controlled 1/10Th scale buggy's, truggys trucks and everything in between
As an owner of bot ha Red Cat Aftershock 3.5 and a Team Associated SC8, I want to add that the SC8 is a far superior truck. Having said that these guys that come one here and proclaim that Red Cats are junk have never had one. My SC8 is much more adjustable and easier to drive, but it cost twice as much. The Red Cat is a great truck for the price and really good for begginers to the hobby.

RE: Carburetor yes, fuel line no
1. You should be able to find the "factory" needle settings in the users guide ( on the wensite if you dont have it) 2. Yes adjusting the idle screw should move the carb opening. If yours didnt you either have it already too far one way or the other, or something is broken in your carb. 3. Yes your intake could be clogged, an easy way to find out is to over prime the motor. Fuel should shoot out the carb once it is primed. The best way to do that is put your finger over the end of the exhaust and pull your pull start. You should see fuel move through the line and shortly after shoot out of the carb. If that works and you still dont start, you might have an issue with your plug or igniter.

RE: Volcano Sandrail
I would get something from the XTR line. I know you are trying to keep cost down, but get the strongest thing you can find for a good price. My Aftershock 3.5 has been a great truck for me. My engine had an airleak and I swapped in an Axial .32 spec1s, which has a ton of torque. I had to replace my front diff after about 2 tanks. I have a question for you. Why dont you get the drive line parts you need without buying the whole truck? You can use the parts break down from Red Cats website then search for the parts on Ebay. Thats where I got my new diff from. Some dealer parted out a few trucks he had extra of. I would bet you could get it all from there for a lot less than buying a new truck.

RE: Redcat any good for light bashers?
Goat, I have stripped the spur gear in everything I have except the SC8, so I wouldnt hold that against them and I have SC8, Aftershock 3.5, RC10GT,Duratrax Warhead, and had a TowerHobbies ST-15 ( stripped that too.). Red Cat has a metal spur gear for the Aftershock, since I replaced mine with that I have had no issues either.

RE: Redcat any good for light bashers?
ORIGINAL: Dads like rc too
ORIGINAL: Foxy What kind of responses did u expect asking this in the owners forum lol. just sayin. ;)
I'd have to agree with this statement but to be honest, I'm a big supporter of Redcat as long as were not comparing them to some other $600-$700 race ready car. They're a great value for the price. I think the twister line is the weaker of the bunch when comparing them to other Redcat models. I have three Redcats in the house and just recently sold my Tornado S30. They've all been great for someone who wants to just go run them around the yard or dirt lot, some mild jumping/bashing. Don't try to compare it to a Revo or a Savage, apples to oranges.
+1 Dads, I have both an Aftershock 3.5 and an Associated SC8. There is no compairison the SC8 is a much better truck. Handles better, is faster, fixes easier, ect. ect. However it cost twice as much as my Red Cat and both are very durable trucks. In a race it would not even be close ( with drivers of the same skill level) But for bashing Red Cats are great trucks and priced just right for someone not sure of staying in the hobby. I thought long and hard before I bought my first new truck ( the Aftershock) and without the experiance it gave me I would have never dumped $500.00 on the SC8. I dont drive it as much as the SC8 but when I break it out I still have a blast with it. PS these things were made for bashing, and with the seemingly constant improvements Red Cat does to there trucks I dont think it will be long before they hit the racing scene.

RE: getting really mad!
I am going to echo the echo of the echos. I have both a Red Cat Aftershock 3.5 ($250.00) and a Team Associated SC8 ($500.00). The SC8 is faster and handles a little better. It is also more scale looking but to say there is a $250.00 difference in them is a stretch. I have had nothing more than minor issues with either of them and both of them I have put through hell with crashes, flips, cartwheels, end over, ect. One of the things I like best about this hobby is the upkeep required to run it. If you dont break it you aint drivin it right LOL. That being said you have bought a toy that goes a lot faster than most of the parts cant handle in case of an accident. The hobby itself is a big money pit, hope you enjoy it. Be patient and it will be a lot of fun. FYI if you have the extra cash the best way to avoid the frustration of down time is to have more than one, and do maintenece/ repair time all at once, that way you dont have to leave the bash session when one breaks.

RE: Redcat and Houston hobby shops
I have a Red Cat Aftershock 3.5 and an Associated SC8. The SC8 is a way better truck. That said for the $250.00 I paid for my Red Cat it is well worth what I spent on it and it bashes just as well as my SC8. I could have bought 2 Aftershocks for what I paid for my SC8, and the bash just as well. Outside of things like the body and the pull start I have not broken aything on either of my truck, and we really bash them hard. I love my Red Cat, and I have delt with the same thing from hobby shops. I have found a solution to this issue, I order and have a small stock of things like glow plugs and spur gears from ebay and keep them in my stock. The only thing I ever get from LHS is gas. If Red Cat continues to improve their products they will be right up there in quality with the big boys.

RE: Aftershock 3.5 Body
The Proline Flo-Techs fits, as long as you get something that fits a Associated SC10 they will fit with a little trimming.

Any news on HPIs Apache GAS powered truck
Im am really interested in this truck. I am a SC guy, have a Redcat Aftershock 3.5 and just ordered an AE SC8. This Apache is a great looking truck and the idea of GAS instead of nitro really intrigues me. It is hard to get info on outside of the standard, longer run times, no tuning, less hassle, and cheeper fuel but the street date I just cant find. The motor is listed as comming out in march, but no word on the trucks. Anyone got anything.

RE: aftershock body size
Look on redcatracing.com it lists the width and legnth on there. If your looking for an aftermarket body Ive been told time and time again just about any body for the slash or sc10 will fit with trimming. You would think a big company like ProLine would drop $250.00 for a truck so they could give there customers good 1st hand advice.

RE: Motor swap, help please
1. Sorry didnt know I ended up in this forum, Mods please move to the appropriate forum thank you. 2.Wasnt really a lie I didnt know it was just the timing chain until I had the new motor and was removing parts off the old one. 3. I reused the collet from the SH because the one with the Axial was way to big. My issue is at the end of the bell housing assembly. I think I have found a solution though. In the SH the peice that held the bull ring keeper also kept the inside bearing in place. On the Axial it now falls against the flywheel so I will get another bearing and stack them so the inside bearing helps the bell housing spin, then I will use a heavy locktight on the screw so it will not back out whle driving. Thanks for the reply thunder and if you see anything potentially wrong about my plan feel free to let me know.

Motor swap, help please
Hey guys I have lurked for awhile and now im in need of some help. I have a Red Cat aftershock 3.5 have had problems with keeping the engine running. I plan on swapping the piston and sleave at some point but in the mean time I used this as an excuse with the wife to get a new motor (FYI did the same thing as a newly wed with my real car had the timing chain knocking on the cover and told her it was rod knock, got a rebuilt 350 out of the deal) anyway i got an Axial .32 spec1s. Heres my issue everything fits however the bell housing/flywheel/clutch assembly is different and before I really break something wanted some advice as to if I need more parts or it will be ok. The SH.21 has a threaded outside center post that the piece bell housing slides over and is kept in place with a bull ring. The Axial has a threaded inner post and is kept in place with a screw, the problem is if I crank doen the screw against the bearing the bell housing wont spin as free and if I leave it loose Im afraid it will spin off while in use. I havent broken it in yet Im waiting on somemore parts so I have sometime to wait for the answer. Every bit of help will be welcome. Thanks in advance.
