RE: Magnum NX/Fun factor?
ORIGINAL: elven wizard My Fun factor thru it's life I replaced the drive cup's with stronger ones. Then I replaced the radio. I put a Traxxas radio in it and that was good enough. The best part of the Fun Factor for me was the engine. It was a good running engine. Easy to tune, (if it needed it at all) and a great idler. That little .16 just hummed. I went thru 8 gallons in mine before a rebuild. As for the Cen transmission? The gears are pretty tough, I went thru a engine and a half until my first gears went bad. In the speed department The Fun Factor blew away Tmaxx .15 anyday. It was a fast truck. Light and nimble. A few times all to easily I did break the body posts so I stayed away from big jumps and concentrated on the little ones. The Diff/Ring gears I never had a problem with those. Built tough. The New Nx or MT 3.0 are a stronger version of the Fun Factor with lots of other improvements. I had lots of good times with the Cen Fun Factor.
And then you turn around and post this.Built tuff??Seems like you dont know wich way to go.Your posts contradicts eachother[;)]

RE: Magnum NX/Fun factor?
ORIGINAL: cenracer1 I've owned both the Magnum and the Fun Factor MT2.. they were both decent trucks, but not something that could take alot of abuse.. I modified my MT2 to the point of turning it into something else.. It was super fast and bullet proof, but also very expensive... If you are just going to do some light bashing then the magnum/FF would be fine.. jumping and heavy abouse will leave you nothing but frustrated... although so will most anything else out there... Parts availability is still an issue especially for the Magnum/FF.. not so much for the larger 1/8th trucks...
Not something that could take alot of abuse?Modified to the point of turning it into something else?If youre just going to do some light bashing??

RE: Magnum NX/Fun factor?
Light bashing???What is that?Is that something like light beer,or light cigarettes,or light softdrink?Youre either bashing or youre not.Abuse was out of the question for my Magnum because it wouldnt even hold up to "normal"use.Who wants an MT that wont hold up to 1ft.jumps?I can get a Wal Marter that will do better than that.MTs are supposed to be made for off-roading,wich includes some jumping from time to time. The Magnums shocktowers wont hold up to 5 or 6in.jumps.Like I said before, just do some research and you will see[sm=lol.gif]

RE: Magnum NX/Fun factor?
I also have had very much experience with the magnum and none of it was good.I am a cen fan,and will stand up for their 1/8 trucks. To me,it doesnt get any better, but as far as the Magnum goes, you better run[X(].The quality leaves alot to be desired. There are better 1/10 or entry level vehicles out there in that price range. If you dont believe me,just search Magnum NX within the cen forum and you will see.If I were you,I would have a look at the MGT 3.0[;)].The MGT 3.0 is a much better quality truck in the same price range. The Magnum is a bunch of flimsy trouble in my experience.

RE: Just got my Nemesis
Sounds like youre running rich, wich is a good thing. You need to goahead and install the OFNA.It will be much more easy to tune. There should be pictures in the previous threads on the correct way to install it.As far as removing a stone,I never did that to mine. The NEMESIS is not an "entry level"truck, but you can learn with it if you let these guys walk you through it.All the help you will ever need will be here shortly to help.I will warn you, theres one guy that will be here that only has negative things to say about cen.You will know who he is when the time comes.Just ignore him.Its hard for me to explain how to get your truck running when you dont know the difference between rich and lean or your high from low end needles, but be patient and help will be here to walk you through.

RE: The blue fuel is no good..
I have had good results with Traxxas fuel.It ran nice and cool and left a good smoke trail.I got 13 gallons out of a engine using nothing but Traxxas.I think that each individual engine may like diffefent fuel. Some engines will run good with Traxxas and some wont.I had one engine that hated Byrons fuel, while others loved it.The color of the fuel has absolutely nothing to do with the quality.I will agree that Blue Thunder is not that great, but there are several pink and red fuels that arent worth a crap in particular engines. You have to find what fuel runs good in YOUR vehicle.Just because Sidewinder works good for me doesnt mean its going to work good for you.If the fuel is black and runs good in your engine, then run it.

RE: gst engine problems
Your truck is new,so dont start taking it apart already unless it is totally necessary. Its going to drip fuel from the pipe due to the rich factory break-in settings. As far as the fuel on the front of the motor,I wouldnt panic.I would goahead and complete the break-in process and see what happens after you lean it out a little.Sometimes with a new engine,it takes a few times of warming up and cooling down for things to properly seat/seal.Give it a chance. With these engines, the "by the book"break-in isnt nearly enough.I wouldnt dare to start leaning it out until after the first gallon. That will happen more quickly than you think because these trucks use alot of fuel in a hurry. If things dont seal after break-in and leaning out,you will need to find out if your carb,or front engine bearing is leaking. These carbs are sealed very well from the factory, and I doubt if it is leaking straight out of the box,but anything is possible, but thats easy to fix.More than likely, the leak is from the front engine bearing.I know that sounds impossible on a new truck, but I had a MGT and a Savage that leaked from the front bearing, straight out of the box.I have also installed a new front bearing that leaked on a 7.7 The thing that you need to keep in mind is that a small leak from the front bearing isnt going to hurt you at all.I know it may be a little messy, but heres the main thing. If the leak isnt bad enough to cause overheating/tuning problems, then I would just keep on truckin.I have ran a leaking front bearing for almost a year without trouble. However,if the bearing is leaking bad enough to where the truck wont tune or overheats, that is a warranty issue, and I would contact CEN before your 60day warranty runs out.

Nice post SAVAGEJIM.I have been trying to tell people this for the longest, but they act like Im crazy when I tell them how tuff CEN 1/8 trucks are.Moderator FOXY made a very nasty post against CEN trucks and CUMMINS made like theres no way that a GST/NEMESIS was tougher than a savage.I only speak from hands on experience, and its nice to see someone else that actually knows what there talking about.

RE: MT vs Truggy, Round 2!
ORIGINAL: cummins driver A nemesis may be bigger, but I dont think it is near as tough as a savage[;)] The savage owners that want to run something like a Picco .28, or LRP .28 or .30 upgrade to the CEN diffs. That is rediculous power in a savage though. Its uncontrollable unless you lower the truck. The CEN diffs are not needed with any moderate engine. The drivetrain of the Nemesis may be stronger than the savage, but it should be with how much bigger and heavier the truck is. I have never seen any videos of a Nemesis bashing like a savage though. Taking big jumps and things like that. I dont think they will hold up as well[8D] Eric
I dont need videos because I have hands on experience with both[>:]but if thats the way you roll,P.M. me with your mailing info and I will send you a DVD that will make you want to sell your Savage[;)]The only reason you feel that way is because you have no hands on experience with a Nemesis[8D]

RE: MT vs Truggy, Round 2!
I didnt mean to hurt your feelings there[:(]A Savage may be able to compete with the GST because of all the problems, but a CEN Nemesis will absolutely destroy that Savage[sm=punching.gif]I know most poeple think theyre basically the same truck, but theyre not.Thats why the GST isnt any good unless its upgraded with Nemesis parts. Also,Savage owners who have been around for a while and know what theyre doing upgrade their Savage diffs to Nemesis Diffs[X(]What does that tell ya??[>:]Now calm down....Im just messing around with you here(just having a little fun[:D])The Savage is a well respected basher and a top of the line MT[sm=thumbs_up.gif],but in all honesty, the Nemesis is tougher and will run over supertibs truggy[:'(]

RE: MT vs Truggy, Round 2!
ORIGINAL: cummins driver That 95% depends on who you are and where you bash. A truggy will be better than a MT for me in probably 30-40% of situations. An MT is better in any kind of grass, deep ruts, mud, and any hill except for the long smooth hills that you have a big run at. The hills that you have ruts in and you have to crawl your way up I feel an MT is better for. My opinion[;)] Eric
Im with you on that one Eric[:D]MT all the way for rough terrain[>:]I like your vid cummins,MT will absolutely DESTROY a truggy on that plowed dirt[sm=punching.gif]Youre right,a truggys front bumper cant clear the clumps and will bottom out an the large clumps[X(][X(]Supertib is about to throw a rod[:@]I bet his veins are swelling and his clothes are busting off like the hulk[sm=48_48.gif][sm=48_48.gif]

RE: GST 7.7 engine problems
ORIGINAL: LS1 Silverado SS we can't get the motor to run long enough to get it to proper running temps. The button for the head does seem to be crossthreaded, but the glow plug screws in and out fine and tightens enough that I can't seem to see it as a problem. however, when compared to a WASP .28 from Orion, with no glow plug the WASP has a pinch to it, while the 7.7 seems to have more of a drag compression wise. I'm thinking the customer just got it too hot, but it's hard to say it was his fault either as he claims to have only had 2 tanks through it. Which I could see easily being truthful, as he's a regular here and although he is hard on his things, he's loyal and has been bringing this thing into me for many previous problems and hasn't gotten a tank through it since it's last cleaning 3 months ago.
If the 7.7 is dragging like that,it either hasnt been broken in very good yet or the engine has dirt in it[:o]

RE: GST 7.7 engine problems
If he has run it hot,the color of the top of the piston should tell the story on that[;)]If the top of the piston is very dark and burned looking, then he has burned it up[:(]Most likely from running the wrong fuel. The top of the piston should be very clean and shinny, almost like new.[8D]Although CEN recommends 30%nitro,I have found that these engines run too hot on 30.If he must run 30%,I wouldnt do it until the motor has run for at least 2 gallons on 20%to make sure its broke in good, but a NX-76 new or broken in by the book will run hot on 30% every time. Most people make the mistake of breaking in one of these engines by the book and figure thats enough, but it actually takes around two gallons to break in one of those[8D]Let me know what you find.

RE: GST 7.7 engine problems
A running temp of 160 is too low for the sleeve to properly seat[X(]If the glowplug is crossthreaded, then theres a 90%chance that the headbutton is stripped/crossthreaded.It is quite easy to overtighten the glowplug on those.Sounds like the engine wasnt properly broken in[8D]

Both are good trucks.MGT diffs dont last any longer than the Savage diffs. You have two choices here. You can install Nemesis diffs in the savage and have a tank,or you can run the MGT with an FOC(forward only conversion).I personally would go for the Savage with Nemesis diffs.A Savage with Nemesis diffs is bullet proof[:D][:D]
