RE: Selling Draganflyer 5Ti with extreme camera setup
Hi Clement7, Well I took some of your advice and bought a 6' balloon, but found out that for shoots the Helium alone to fill was a K7 tank = $200+.... so I didn't like the idea of "wasting" that much cash per shoot... I'd rather have "hard" equipment paid for and then maintenance. I'll include a picture when I get home of what I used recently and we'll see if you can figure out what I use...... I've tried quite a number of things... I'll discuss after the picture upload tonight. Good to hear from you! I've had some bids on my package but I havn't jumped at any yet. For those who bid, if you wish to bid once more... I'll then give to the highest bidder so it's done with! Someone will get a great deal! Cheers

RE: Shooting 6Megapixels with my SAVS
Thx clement. Actually a note for you back on this SAVS 6mb topic. I went and bought a Pentax S6 with the LEDir thingy to take pictures. I extended the legs of the DF and mounted the camera with 3 elestics to hold it in place. I used the battery like on the SAVS unit to counter balance the camera perfectly on the DF. It works fine HOWEVER is extermely un-pratical for AP..... if there is any wind being already at the top end of weight it becomes very unstable as it takes longer to react to inputs.... I've basically written it off for doing AP with it unless they get 6mb cames weighing 40 grams.... :> I wouldn't want to smash my unit with it anymore. I can take pics if you want to see what I did to test it..... but it doesn't work outside with wind.

Filled it with air today to see if I can move it around in my F150 bed. Looking to make a pan/tilt/shoot thingy to control my cameras..... I'll let you know how that goes!!

RE: Futaba 6EXAP
ORIGINAL: scottslc Can I program my Futaba to run my other draganfly? It operates on a different channel, would be nice not to ave to bring 2 different controllers. I should know this but I don't. Thanks
Yes you can. I have about 4 different receivers. Hitec Laser, Futaba 6(something), another Futaba 6 something and a Futaba7cthp (i think those are the letters). The important thing is because the DF uses onboard non-swapable crystals, you need to find out what channel you have. When ever I order somthing I also get the same channel. So my Futaba 7cthp does my DF's and Trex and hirobo .30 heli. I've just ordered a balloon as per Clement7's suggestion and will have the rig underneith for tilt/pan... I will be able to us my 7 channel on that too.... It has 10 differnt models so the configs are all set and different. The channel number should be written on the bottom of your DF boards in a black magic marker as well as how many channel... eg 51/6 Channel 51, receiver ports = 6.

RE: Shooting 6Megapixels with my SAVS
Clement7, Thank-you for that information!!! Couple more quick questions: 1) What wind speed is the balloon ok to "fly" in? I believe you said the DF was for no wind and when it gets windy you use your 6' balloon. 2) When your done shooting, do you completly deflate the balloon? Thank-you again!

RE: Shooting 6Megapixels with my SAVS
Clement7, I'm interested in hearing more about your Balloon setup. A couple of questions: 1) Do you have to fill that everytime you go out to shoot.. 6' is too big to travel unless you deflate it? 2) If you do deflate it what does it cost you to inflate it everytime you take a picture? 3) How much will your 6' balloon pull up? 4) Could you only have 1 tether line, and a rig that lets you pan and scan with downlink to take a picture? 5) What do you use for a tehter line and where do you mount it? (Could you tether it to a back of a truck?) Thank-you for your info!!

T-Rex 450se..How much can it lift?
Does Align anywhere mention how much a Trex 450SE can lift in oz or grams? I would like to add a Co-pilot and a 6 megapixel camera and mount to the unit. Before buying some of this stuff I'd like to know what the max lift is so I'm not close to it. So does anyone know if Align has mentioned anywhere how much you can lift with our heli's? RE: Trex 450SE & Copilot questions
Thank-you Karyn, I don't have a problem with hovering, but I want to add a Digital camera and go up about 200' to take pictures... Up there it's too small to see clearly and actually over 50' I find it hard to keep a "stable" hover... So I'm hoping this will help. I understand the wind etc will still move the chopper around, but it will be at least more stable with... Am I doing the right thing by adding this unit for my purpose?

Trex 450SE & Copilot questions
Hoping someone here can help me. First my gear: Trex450 SE GY401 3 x HS-65HB 1 x S9650 Futaba T7CHP transmitter R1680F Receiver Deans whip antenna I did a search in this forum for copilot but only found 1 message... so here are my quick questions 1) If I get the FMA FS8 (the newest copilot) they have three models... CP CPZ CPi which one should I get? 2) Is my hardware ok with it or are there some "upgrades" you'd suggest 3) the FS8 is a 8 channel, but my transmitter is only 7... is that ok? what would I lose? 4) Anyone here running this setup? what should I watchout for...or is there a better forum someone for TRex with this setup? Thank-you in advance.

RE: Shooting 6Megapixels with my SAVS
Thanks for conducting the test and sharing us the results Doc!
Not a problem
Hmmm, my mind tells me that I should re-attach the heat syncs to help lower the temps even a bit...
a heat sink would help a little.. not sure.. i don't have any that size to test with my gun...sorry
And flight time should really be not more than 4 minutes of hovering with the added weight..
That won't matter.. with my (limited) experience with motors and heat... they heat up within the first 30 seconds to 80% of their temp and then climb from there till their max temp.. so 4 or even 3 minutes should yeild the same internal temp... I'll try it later tonight....

RE: Shooting 6Megapixels with my SAVS
ORIGINAL: Clement7 Doc, wont your T-REX hover steadily, when you release the right stick on the controller? Doesn't it make all the servos on the metal head go into nuetral position? And given that the heli can be mechanically balanced and trimmed properly before flying at higher altitudes, won't it hover steadily after doing so? That's my understanding of what the linkages adjustments are for.
Yes my Trex 450 SE hovers very steady... how ever unlike the DF if you let go of all sticks, although all the links go to neutral, that doesn't interpolate into the Trex going to a hover.... basically if I'm turning right and I let go of the stick.. like all helicopters it'll continue to go right until I get it back to a hover. Turn Ti off on your DF and send it up to 50+ feet and it should react the same way.... that's what makes it so hard..... and it's small...... so I think you have a good point... go to a bigger frame so I can see it when it's higher. I may grab a V50 to test and see... If that works then I can use my glasses for that heli with a downlink so I don't have to take my eyes off the heli and still frame my shot.
How about getting Heading Hold Gyros? Here's the link that explains why it's a lot better than the standard ones.
I've got all the best gear on the Trex... including a 401 heading hold gyro... works well.. again doesn't do anything for hovering. Don't get me wrong.. I have no trouble hovering... I can whip the df (no ti) or my Trex all around me.... go out of control and get back to a hover in 1 second.... but when I go a lot higher then my head... I a) either get scared cuz I can't tell if it's level (((And I'm usually directly or withing 20 feet directly below the helicopter))) or b) just can't do it.
