RE: Servo flutter
I took everyones advice and set the plane up for aileron mixing. It appears the problem was in the Y cable. I also swapped out the crystal I the crystal. No problems now except for having 3 servos I have to plug in on the wing. I used colored page tabs to label the ends so they are easy to connect.

Servo flutter
I am finishing setting up my Great Planes Cherokee and now I have some flutter in the ailerons. When I move the ailerons and move them back to neutral position sometimes one or both will flutter alittle for 1-10 seconds the stop. I dont know what is causing it. I have an extension plugged into the reciever so I can easily remove the wing. Let me know what your thoughts are thanks.

RE: Are 2 Batteries worth it?
I have a question about what charger I would need for the different types of batteries. I have the Tower Hobbies NiCd Wall Charger TH-FBC-19B4 for home and Hobbico QuickPeak Tx/Rx DC Field Charger for the field. Can these chargers handle different style of batteries or are they limited. I am interested in NiMH batteries and wondering if those chargers will work. If not let me know what charger I would need.

RE: Are 2 Batteries worth it?
Thanks for all the tips. To clarify I am not using 2.4 system, I am using the old school crystals and it is a 40 size. All my chargers are set up for 4.8v because that is what my first plane came with. I have another plane I could steal the switch off of and do have room for a second battery. I will look into a bigger Mah battery. Thanks for all the comments

Are 2 Batteries worth it?
I have a Cherokee with a Super Tigre motor and runing 7 servos. I am running a standard 4 cell 600 Mah battery. Is it worth the extra weight to add a second battery or just keep charging the one battery after every other flight.

What plane to get
I recently came back from a deployment with the Army and had some unfortunate accidents with my 2 planes and an unable to repair the planes or get replacement parts so I will get a new plane. I had a Phoenex Decathalon 40 size and a tower hobbies voyager 40 size. I dont know if I want to get the Decathalon by Seagull or get the Cherogee 40 size from tower hobbies. I have 5 years of flying and like the scale look but also like to do some 3D moves with my planes along with easy of flying. I have plenty of servos between my 2 dead planes and have a super tigre 45 ABC for a power plant. Let me know what you recommend thanks.

RE: Duel battery hook up
The battery is in my Decathalon (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBGZS&P=7). I charge the battery before I fly and after 3 or 4 flights I check the battery and it is down to 50-60% The battery is only 2 years old. I dont know if the battery has gone bad already or if I just wear it down from flying so much.

Duel battery hook up
Right now I am running a single 4.8v, 600mAh battery. I am wondering if I can hook up another battery with a Y cable with the same mAh rating and not create any problems with the receiver and servos. Please give me your ideas and tips, thanks

RE: Whoops...
I have the exact same plane and I had a few dead sticks with it. I noticed the same thing if you come in above normal landing speed she likes to just hang in the air about 5 feet off the runway. You may have a problem getting a new body for it. I had to order a new one for mine 2 years ago from tower hobbies it showed up in the mail broken and when I called they said they dont have anymore so I had to fix the new one. You may just have to fix that body. I noticed if I had a dead stick and I was going to land hot I would bring the plane in nose down and then flare and make 1 main strut hit the ground then bring the other main down. I fly on grass so once one tire hits she slows down fast. I just got done completly overhauling mine with all new color scheme, I should put up some pictures.

RE: Turn aileron into flap
I was going to put the servo between 2 ribs and just reenforce the pocket by running cross supports to the rib on either side so the pocket cant move left or right. Any specific wood I should use?

RE: Turn aileron into flap
The wing has ribs. I just planned on taking 2 pieces and running those parellel to the ribs the width need for the serveo, then cut 2 pieces to go between them to make a pocket for the servo. That should be strong enough to support the servo.

Thanks Minnflyer. The only other concern I have about doing this is building the supports for the servos in the wings to move the ailerons.

Turn aileron into flap
I am in the middle of completely overhauling my Tower Hobbies Voyager. I have the covering removed and am installing new hinges. I am looking at the wings now and am thinking of making part of the aileron a flap. Right now the wing is set up with a full aileron the length of each side of the wing with one servo in the center of the wing. I was thinking of cutting the aileron about the halfway point and setting up an independent servo for each aileron and using the center servo to operate the flaps. If anyone has any experience with this let me know if it is even worth the work or not. I only thought of doing this because I am going to put a Super Tigre 45 engine on this plane so it will fly faster. If you have any suggestions or comments let me know, thanks

RE: Want to try smoke
Thanks for all the help, the engine I have in there gets the plane around pretty good. I can usually fly around on 1/2 throttle no problem. If anyone knows how much weight I am looking at let me know. I am thinking about 4-8 oz tank and a pump that runs off its own battery.

Want to try smoke
I have been flying a few years now and I have a plane that I think would look great with smoke. I have a Super Decathlon with a Super Tigre 45 motor with a pitts muffler. I have plenty of room for another tank but not to sure what else I would need to make smoke. I would just like a basic simple system to keep the plane light and good to fly. Please pass on any suggestions, thanks

Air Show Flying
Hi, I have been flying for a few years now mainly at local clubs and by my house. There are going to be a few airshows around me and am wondering how they work . Can I bring my plane there and fly? Do I have to be part of that club to fly? Do I have to register to fly? If anyone can give me some insite that would be great.

hoother places to get planes from???
Hi, I am looking for some online stores where I can get a better variety of planes to choose from. I have look all through tower hobbies and havent been inpressed lately with the scale and sport 20-50 class. I am looking for a good looking fun flying 3rd plane. If you have any good suggestions or places to visit let me know.

Which plane to get?
I am looking to buy a third plane. My first plane was a Hobbico Trainer and my second was a Voyager. I am not sure what I want to get for my third plane. My choices are between the Goldberg Tiger or the Goldberg Skylark. Both are low wing planes. The Tiger says it is for beginner to intermediate and the skylark is more for intermediate to advanced. I have been flying for over 2 years. This will be my second ARF build. If anyone has any experience with either plane let me know.

Third plane
Well I have been flying for about 18 months now. My first plane was a Hobbico trainer. My second plane is a Voyager and I love flying that plane. I want to get a thrid plane and retire the trainer. I want to get something scale and I can use my 6 channel radio. I am thinking right now of the T-34 mentor. I want something that I can fly hard and push the limits with. I am not into 3D flying so the extra and edge are not my cup of tea. Please pass along ideas for planes that are around 200 dollars or less.

RE: First Landing in the Cornfield
I worked for a farmer during high school and when I was home from college. I watched him hit a deer with the combine and not stop, yes you read that right a deer AKA bambie. The only thing that happened to the combine was a smear of blood and fur all over the head and out the back. A plane will pass right through a combine no problem.

RE: Hit the only thing out there
The field is actually pretty big, has 2 baseball fields, 2 soccer fields and 1 field hockey field plus about 200 feet of area with small tress. I dont fly at clubs because I kinda live out in the sticks and I dont want to have to pay to fly out of a field. I switched to nitro because electics you only get 2 10 minute flights and you have to fly in very little wind. On the nitro I can fly all day long none stop. I can will post pics later

RE: How to make sure engine is put on straight?
if you have a laser level that you can lock, just set it up so it shines on the center of the plane from the top, if the line hits the center of the tail and hits the center of the crank or glow plug you should be ok.
