any interest in new Trailing oleo,s? Digitech pro
we still get a lot of requests to continue our line with trailing oleo,s. i had a chat this morning with our machine guy , and he still has all drawings saved. so if there is a lot of interest and also if the dealers are interested we would think about . re introducing them again most popular where: Boomerang 125mm / 155mm Flash Front trailing oleo,s so let us know im wont be offering them myself anymore , but would be interested in doing them for certain shops we worked with in the past. NEW Jetcat USB cable 2.1
New USB cable for Jetcat ECU Ver 2.1 we updated the USB cable a bit with new firmware now does not need special drivers anymore. make sure you have windows autoupdate enabled. Windows 7 will autodetect the cable as a rs232 cable. make sure it installs it at lower com port value (com 1-5) if they are higher the jetcat software may not detect the cable if so: click on computer / mouse right button/ select properties devices select the comport it installed it on click on details then advanced now select a new comport for it com 5 should work fine without getting into trouble on other comports specs : USB/rs232 2.1 cable with RJ 11 connector length : 2 meters available : Jetcat dealers or Jetcat direct

RE: SIAI Marchetti SF-260 Turbo prop Carf
ORIGINAL: asimace Hi Sandor, that is interesting as I too have been looking through electric retracts and brakes at this JP. Can I ask you why are you choosing a mix between Lado retracts and GZ brakes as GZ has a complete kit (retracts + brakes)? Also to use the GZ retracts you need the electronic controller all the same, right? The GZ brakes are really strong and have a very proportional control. I didn't know that the Lado retracts were programmable... I understood that they are just plugged directly to the receiver and need -100%/+100% ATV program to work right. And congrats for your Siai, a really beautiful plane! I see the grey italian air force's training new pilots every day! Thanks, Mauri
the GZ: expensive they use 180 euro,s a piece maxon engines. (thats without the retracts!). they always use a control box. they need a 4s lipo. they dont take you serious and no time (thats what happened to me) LADO: rebuild your behotec in 5 minutes costs are 3 x less! they go directly into receiver (the program box stays outside) power consumption is only about 20 mah for each cycle you do nice guys and open! the new lado,s will have this new feature , so that was a good option for me

SIAI Marchetti SF-260 Turbo prop Carf
i just picked up one of the first production models at jetpower 2011. they had one with red/white. wich i purchased on saturday ,thru Thomas singer . nice kit , well build. you can see clearly the experiance they had over the years making kits. i am NOT looking forward mounbting the glass for the windows , hate that job. i will do a bit different things then the stock one. i will be using the behotec C-50,s with direct servo drive in the front. i ordered the Lado rebuild kit for behotec (electric) and using the electrical brakes from GZ retracts. i tested the brakes on jetpower and i was amazed about the braking power these allready have. since the marchetti has the gear doors attached , to the oleo,s i do not need anything more. lado now had made a digital bus system for their retracts , so you can program in line with all 3 attached the speed , and delays on each retract. the new motors also pull a oleo with 300 mm lenght and 300 grams attached to the end of that oleo. the power will be a spt5 wich was special made for me last year for another project its a standard spt5 BUT has a marine exhaust pointing downwards. if you order a SPT5 make sure you ask for the marine exhaust! and have them pointing it downwards. infact jetcat will be doing the full exhaust anyway. servo,s JR7811 Emcotec BIC will be the power distribution. you might ask why not a 700 euro powerbox ? simply all these servo,s in flight will not even go over 5 amps. the BIC can do 10 amps and 15 peak , nice digital screen with all info you need. and have a nice JIM price of only 100 euro,s :-) GRAUPNER and the new Graupner MX-20 hott will be the new TX for it. (12 channels) we tested these TX now with our drones and had no issues flying a cool 1.5 km away. nice thing about it is the telemetric. it uses sensors on board wich tell me : RPM Fuel used and fuel left battery from reciever. elevation speed GPS data. you can add many sensors it also has standard a speech module , wich call you the parameters you have set. so for me important was fuel left , height and speed. all in all looking forward making this plane ready for 2012 ..
ORIGINAL: Jim Cattanach I enjoyed Jetpower as usual. Great meeting old friends & meeting new ones ( Hi Big Plumbs) & getting some good bargains. The Ali & Sandor double act gave me some good deals[:D]. Deals were in short supply this year, I was particularly disappointed in Carf. Last year they offered 25% off the Flash. This year, nothing on anything. You would think in the current economic climate, some effort at attracting buyers would be made. As a result, I hear many traders did not do much business. Many show models were left unsold. Usually they are snapped up quickly. Winnie as usual organised the event with his usual precision, except for one big problem. How does he expect two toilets to service thousands of people. I went behind a hanger, only to find it crowded with people relieving themselves. Either sell less beer, or provide decent toilet facilities.
the toilets where ok , i guess the 25 cents was the big issue?[:D]

RE: digitech turbines
Hi Jim and other cypriot friends , i am still alive..[:D] first let me say i am still in business but doing different stuff. the decision was not easy ,it was eather go larger , machines and staff. or go in a completely different direction , i chosen to go in a different direction. we are now in the professional drones business , i deliver now carbon made drone,s for the military. for the movie company,s and television , photographers , plant inspections with FLIR. we are even asked to make a surveilance drone for the 2012 uk olympics, and and and. we have genererated a large demand for these "new" aircrafts. the good thing is with these flying ,if i fuck up my steering i press a button and it always comes back[:D]. i tried the same with my habu a few weeks back , but it never returned...... anyway Ali is going ahead with the sales , there is still some stock at ali,s. if anyone is interested and wants to take over the production ,can have drawings , suppliers for parts ,use of the name. its a good business but time consuming , and getting bashed[>:]. i hope Ali will keep on continuing the sales and even taking over local production. if you own a small cnc lathe , you can do almost all. all our oleo,s where predone , and we just made them to length and fit. as for the UAT , someone else in the UK has taken over that , i send all we had left. i hope he will have some done before jetpower , i can still make some Ron. so i will still take your money Jim , but handing it over to Ali[8D] i am sure with that 5 euro note we can all have ourselves sharing a " bradwurst" .
ORIGINAL: kelly vallee Yes, only a 6s 5000mah Turnigy Nano tech 25-50c for $80. Here some more info, I asked before the maiden flight if when the flaps a re down the the plane will pitch up or down. I got a answer neither, so I test this out in the maiden flight and it does pitch up when the flaps are down. So, I could not use then in the landing. I have program a little down elevator mix when the flaps go down to correct this, I will see what happens. I will be testing in a few weeks the plane with a Thunderpower 65C and see if I will get a better speed out of it, but remember 202 km is on the maiden flight. I should be able to get over 210 km with a little down wind.
we use a jr12X in 3 flight modes (thanks for the programming PJ and DJ) in the landing flightmode i can trim out the elevator in its own mode , so in testflight i can modifi the elevator. and still use the normal mode for trimming level flight. 200 kmh is a lot , doubt will go that fast , but with the p-20 you double the flightime on any lipo :-) in landing i use crow , simple but effective.

RE: BOOMERANG ELAN - New Build & Setup Thread!
you could have just milled of 3mm alloy from each side of the retract , so no cutting into the fuselage was needed as for the front steering : http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=9720760 als0 with the hight its fine , as soon you are fully loaded and fueled up , it will lower itself on the mains and you will have 0 degrees or even positive AOA. we sold i think over a hundred of these and never had complaints. the direct drive was the last thing we made for the elan , ali should have lots left of these , its worth while the work. if they dont fit why didnt you just send them back and got your self some spring airs?.. enjoy them we and lots of customers allready did. Sandor Kruise
ORIGINAL: Xairflyer This Elan came with a set of ELAN prolynx retracts which to me would say they fit the elan, otherwise why call them Elan retracts. Sorry but they fit the elan about as well as a nun at a hookers convention! What they are is set of standard retracts like many others on the market that you make fit. Not Elan specific in any way. As you can see from the first picture, if you fit them in the recess that was made by Boomerang for the retracts the legs are too short as the tyre is hard against the wheel well. Also they are too wide for where they are mounted. To make them fit you have to move them in board like the second picture, this gets the wheel now in the middle of the well, but now you have to cut into the wing to get to the mounts. A friend mentioned his were the other way around, as you can turn the trunion, picture three shows how they would fit that way, with a hole needed to be made in the end of the wing join and the cylinder sticking into the boom. Not very practical if you want to remove the booms for transport, and to me just dosn't look right, and they still don't fit in the recess made for the retracts anyway. The fourth picture shows how they should fit, these amazingly used to be supplied by the same company when they were called Jet A1's, why was the new ELAN retracts not made like this so they would actual fit ???? Now that was the mains. The Elan nose retract mount is set down into the fuselage (or up depends on how you look at it), the reason being it makes fully retracting the nosewheel into the fuselage easier. Now as the manual clearly shows, the PROPER retracts for this type, sit on top of the bearers and don't drop through. What we have with the ELAN prolynx retracts is a retract unit that is designed to go between the bearers (actually they are mains retracts and not nosewheel specific like many others) and don't fit without spacing up the mount about 20-25mm. This would be acceptable if you could add two new bearers between the formers, but you cant, as you can only make them the length of the retract unit because the steering arm is lower when retracted. Which really means these retract units wont fit any bearer mounts on any model unless you space them up. Good design! So anyone looking to build an Elan in the future would be better to look elsewhere for the retract units themselves, there are many out there which would fit much better, behotec, jetlegend, eurokit. At £530 for the retract units and legs alone I would have expected them to actually fit. If I wasn't building this for someone else they would be in the post.
your not alone Ali i killed mine in france , due to to slow speed i guess i programmed some crow in it and got in trouble on landing in downwind while turning left. as soon it nosed dived i recovered it by pulling back flaps , but to slow to stay airborne now its left as a ornament on "Le planet" . this is the most funjet i had! , so i am waiting for the 3 parcels to arive. mine looks fine on the picture , but it looks it got shot with holes and cracks everywhere. on the soft landing it got gutted by lose stones scattered there. so total damage is 1 habu , rest is fine
ORIGINAL: Dave Wilshere I have the stock units and wire legs, my Habu 32 has had over 40 flights on grass (plus tarmac flying) and I don't have an issue with the wire legs. The wire is good, nice hard piano wire type material and I found that until I bent the leg on a heavier landing it stayed straight. The long length of wire does not bend, it tends to bend at the spring. A simple tweek and its straight. Adding straight oleos is not a good idea, too much load on the wing structure and it will just bend at the top. Most of my flying is on grass, the wire legs are great. Adding the 51mm main wheels makes a difference on grass. Dave
no its not good its crap. it works for you maybe but not for me. they do bend specialy with larger wheels. mine bend at the top and not at the spring we need trailing legs and also no euroshit , they are made of alloy bubblegum..
