accucycle Pro Hobbico repairs
I was in a hurry , I unplugged the accucycle from the wall while it was charging and ever since, the LCD display is completely inert. Some voltage ouput is coming out of the tx side and a little from the rx side but without any display it is useless as a discharger. What did I do wrong? I opened it up hoping to find a fuse, nothing of that type. Is it repairable if I send it to Hobbico.? I have used this unit troublefree for many years, wonder if I should buy new or get this one repaired

Kraft radio tech help
I have been successfully flying my Kraft using a 27 MHZ module. After a recent crash, I found the battery connector disconnected from the RX and assume this was the problem. However in doing a complete check I noticed something on my RF meter reading. Every time I would check the output without antenna before the first flight of the day I would get hight output in the .95 to one watt range and complete control to the prescribed minimum distances. With the antenna extended always good output too. However when I placed my TX on the table or ground the RF output meters goes to half or about .5 of the Emico RF output meter This is with or without the antenna extended. Now I am familiar that when you ground the antenna with your hand you can get the meter reading up in this case it does go up as soon as I take the tx in my hands as when I do the range checks Maybe my tx has been like this all along but this is the first time I notice this. Is that an indication of something going in my RF output module?

RE: Pictures of my antique radio collection
I am also interested in knowing about Citizen Ship history if anybody can tell us. But also, about this RC manufacturing Eight Hundred with that handle shaped antenna. And anyone knows anything about UNICOM, I have a single stick set made in the 70's with D&R connectors (the system inside is built so much like the RS systems) and D&R plastic single stick

RE: Okay, who's the Kraft radio guru?
Hello, I am intrigued by the white tx with the square antenna that doubles as a carrying handle (I believe). I remember seeing the ads for this RC Manufacturing radio in RCM in 72 to 74. I also saw flight pack pictures of it in RCM original Flight Training Course. Otherwise never heard or read anything about this company. Was this radio any good and who made that and for how many years?

RE: Bramco Throttle
I am not sure if you mean that you want to absolutely use a Bramco to convert a UC glow engine and how it perform with it or if you also wonder about using any type of carb. I did convert a Stallion 35 UC to RC by cutting off the cast permanent UC ventury to the proper height relative to the UC needle valve hole location such that an OSMAX S 30 RC carb would fit perfect on this base. I used a hacksaw and a flat file to finish off the surface. I picked this OS carb because it was the only one that fit that I had on hand. Perhaps an OS 35 carb would have fit well too. Although I do not have a tach, I always felt the Stallion was performing as well as when it was UC with this somewhat smallish carb. The throttle response is excellent. With the help of Clarence Lee who supplied me with a new connecting rod from a Torpedo Green Head several years ago, this Stallion is still running great.

RE: Has RCM folded?
Since June 2005, I have used them about 3 times. I received all I ordered ( plans and books) but in one case it took almost 6 months. If you check previous posts, I mentioned this and another fellow from Scandinavia( can't remember if it is Norway or Sweden) also experienced delays. The most contentious is as in my case, they said it was mailed such a date and after numerous trials at contacting them they finally said that they would remail the plans claiming the post office had returned the package as my address was unknown! This is consistent with some other people experiencing the same. To me, the parcel return was hogwash. But why the inconsistency in service? Is it because they are so short of cash that they have to wait until they can buy paper to print the plans or pay the postage? And why this parcel return excuse? They are encouraging suspicion by not being honest. It does make me jittery also and I always used a credit card for my orders to have Visa to fall back on if they give me trouble

RE: Quebec to potientially loose many RC feilds
RCKEN, You put a big smile after your idea, but I think it seriously is a realistic way to solve this problem! [>:] Those of you who are from Quebec probably all know about this place North of Trois-Rivière near Shawinigan where you can skate during the winter on the farm and on trails in the wooded portion of the farmland. It is a very popular tourist attraction and they apparently were going to be shut down by the same agricultural protection law. The owner, perhaps with ideas from his legal counsel. started to sell products of the land, agricultural products, in small quantities when you buy a ticket to go skating. You have no choice you must buy ( for a very reasonable amount) so many food products. Somehow, this makes this tourist attraction comply to the letter of the law. And the place is thriving as I went there last Christmas for the first time in 6 years, and what an improvement in the facilities! I am in business in Ontario, and I too encounter all sorts of laws that may have a good basis but are difficult to apply in the real world. What disgust me the most is when bureaucrats have enough time to waste to apply such laws to the letter to the detriment of people who have no money to fight the stupidity in court. So I say, fight the bull by the horns and organize radio control spray airplanes for farm pesticide control. That is all the bureaucrats deserve. [>:][>:][:D][:D]

RE: This is the most incredible thing to happen to RC in the last 30 years. You have to try this !!!
Thanks Jettpilot. This is something else and I am glad you are sharing it with us via those videos as I do not have the time and money to invest in such a project because of family commitments. You are sort of giving us a free ride and I am totally impressed! I forget the name of the person but there is one guy near Montreal that did the same with an electric glider and a rotating camera such that it is like your own head is moving in the cockpit, you can look down toward the earth as you climb. He made it on one of the major French TV network National News here in Canada. That's how I found out about this new way of flying. I think his videos are on google. As much as I enjoyed your videos I also enjoyed the Spanish music. Where I live Spanish songs are seldom heard on radio, if the singer is Spanish only the english versions of the songs are played. Do you mind telling me who are the artists? I suspect your music selection is influenced by your beautiful wife! Muchos gracias

RE: Git yer skis on
A ha! that's where the snow is coming from! Tonight Friday at 5 pm it started, we had no snow at all and we expect 15cm when it's all done (about 6") . And I live a few hundred miles south of James Bay! So much for the fact that cold and snow always comes from Canada! [:D]

RE: Has RCM folded?
[;)] Bingo! I finally received my plans that I ordered last May! All of them, none missing, I was getting worried. At the end of June when I emailed Nancy Pallares about not receiving the plans, only the books, she said the package had been returned as unclaimed at my post office. I asked for a photocopy of the envelope so I could show my postmaster and when I saw the copy, only a handwritten note "return to sender" was showing on the otherwise properly addressed and metered envelope. There was not the usual stamp showing the reasons for the return. I found this very peculiar. Ms Pallares said she would resend the package at the end of June. 6 weeks later, nothing (I had chosen surface mail) I emailed again to Ms. Pallares, and Ms. Rodriguez answered that she was no longer at RCM. She would also send the package, and seemed to know about it as she asked very few details about my order. Again 6 weeks later, nothing. So I called instead and after several tries with no one answering the telephone I finally spoke to Ms. Rodriguez who said she would airmail my package. And it finally came in. One thing that maybe involved here is that I did ask Ms. Pallares for my plans to be paid partly by the 11 issues they owed me from my last renewal. She did accept and I paid with my Visa for the balance owed on the several plans I ordered. I did not mind doing this as I always wanted those plans. I wonder though if like UAL 767 they deliberately dragged sending the plans because it was sort of a refund. If I did not care about getting plans I would certainly have joined a class action or request a check because it certainly is very despicable that they keep on operating without refunding all the subscribers. I see that kind of behaviour in the construction industry all the time, and am disappointed RCM is doing the same. [>:]

RE: Has RCM folded?
I have ordered books and plans twice since RCM stopped publishing. The first time, both books and plans came in within the normal shipping time. This second time last May, I received the books within normal time but I am still waiting for the plans. First they say the Post Office returned the package because I did not claim it at my Post office ! Then after telling me they would ship it again, they never sent them and now last week they said they would send them again. I am waiting a few more weeks and if I do not get them I guess I will have to make a claim to my credit card company. [:o] I also liked this cover very much! This is the first time I do an upload of a picture. If the resolution is not good please some of you give me tips on how to proceed with my scanner! [:D]

RE: Sig Kadet
I ordered my Sig Kadet in 1974 in order to have a plane to self teach myself to fly. It was as described by Hossfly and the picture in post 27 is identical to the one I built except I do not recall that the box showed MK1. Mine predated the MK1 differentiation because there was no Mk II yet. I powered it with an OS Max S 30 and it was powerful enough especially on the first hairy flights. After a nice 10 minute or so first flight, I simply cut the throttle and it landed itself without any input from me. (Huge open field no landing strip, no club no other modelers nearby) Elated I tried another flight and added more throttle and tried a more controlled landing. The reversed rudder syndrome got me and I crashed it with the engine running almost full bore! After a complete rebuild I managed to fly it well and never crashed it for a long time. My radio was a Kraft Sport series 5 channel of the same year. A few years later, I was tired of never seeing anyone else but me fly so I pedaled my Peugot bike down to Centralia Ontario (450 miles)to see the end of the Canadian Nationals. There, Warren Hitchcox ( one of the nicest person I ever met) presented me to Maxey Hester and Hazel Sigafoose who were competing at the Nats. It was a thrill for me to meet the builders of my beloved trainer. When I shared my self teaching RC flying experience with a Kadet, Mr. Hester told me that I should have powered my Kadet with a .19 size engine as the plans showed then. He said I would probably have avoided that very damaging crash. In hindsight I must say that he was probably right. In this day where everything has to be so overpowered (including Kenworth and Mack trucks who always need 400 to 500 hp vs the 200 to 300 hp of the sixties) I believe that this Kadet, carefully built lightly would probably fly very gently on a 19. Of course it would not be very powerful to do aerobatics but to learn to fly hummm, I must build another one and try it! By the way, although it was in the attic while I was at university, I resurrected that plane and flew it on and off about 15 years ago and it is only 3 years ago that I crashed it because my good old Kraft radio's switch harness let go while I was grooving a nice fast gentle curve and it gradually descended at full speed in this glorious crash during a cold november day, crackling as the balsa ripped apart. It was so fuel soaked at the front end that I decided to scrap it. That was a long lived airplane. I loved my Kadet!

RE: Vintage RC planes that did not fly well ?
Anyone have experience with Sterling Spitfire 64 inch span RC model by Harris , I believe? Any particular bad habits like the Contender? I have the kit I bought in 1973 and only after I received it that I discovered this was not a first model to learn to fly with ? No clubs, no help back then! Ended up buidling and self teaching myself to fly using an original Sig Kadet (no Mark) and RC Modeler original first print Flight Training Course. I still need to get more proficient before trying a Spitfire but I wonder if I would be better off with a more modern version of that model? [8|]
