RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
We just test flew my buddy Jim's CF today and I was very impressed. I have an Ultra Flash and I think that to say the UF is a better plane depends on your flying style. The CF seems more axial and more precise in four point effortless rolls but the UF is faster. Jims has the new Kingtech K-140 and it is awesome. It walks all over my p-120 sx. It starts in half the time. Throttle response is smoother and alot faster and sips fuel. No I don't sell them, just telling it like it is. We were up 7.5 minutes and had a little over 3/4 main tank left all three flights. Also the landings are very manageable. CF and UF... Great jets!

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Hey guys Maiden went great! One sweet airplane with no bad habits. The only thing I changed was the amount of flaps for landing. I reduced it down to 3" which may be cut down even more. 200 mph is very easily attainable straight and level clocked with a ( real ) radar gun. Jim

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Hey Dave Thanks for the input and it is well received. It would seem that you definitely know the Flashes well. I am a big fan of Carf and was in no way bashing them it's just a minor concern. I have the Comp Arf gee bee and like it alot. With hundreds of hard flights on it I can testify that they make well engineered product. Now, off to the field for the test flight. Jim

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Hey Dave I am using the felt clunks in both tanks and the wing tank is completely empty after draining. The main tank however has fuel that you can see up in front. I realize it's probably not a problem causer it's just a little unsettling to drain a tank and still have a pint of fuel sloshing around. Seems like comp arf would have remedied the issue early on. On a different note, I am doing the maiden tomorrow. Overall I am very happy with the plane and would consider it a fine ARF. Jim

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I filled both tanks to capacity and then drained the system through the UAT just as the motor would with plane level and retrieved 88oz of fuel. Pretty poor for a 112oz system. I then dropped the rear of the tank 1/4" and tried the same method again and retrieved 96oz. Better but still not acceptable and that is as far down as the tank can go without hitting the duct. Does anyone make a properly shaped tank? There is just something about unusable fuel that bugs me. Why carry it around? Jim

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Hey Dave (and others), Just finished my Ultra Flash and I have a concern, the plane sits level on the ground and when I test ran it today I noticed the tank was running out so I shut it down. I then drained the rest of the fuel to make sure it was all out. I picked up the nose and another 16 ounces came out. Is this normal, or should I remove the rear brace and drop the rear of the tank? I am running a 120 SX so I need every drop of fuel to count. I guess my question is does the plane fly with a slight nose-up attitude, allowing the tank to drain properly? Jim Record

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I have read through alot of these threads and haven't got a clear picture of the Flash vs Ultra Flash flight characteristics ( knife edge coupling, speed, rough air penitration.) I'll be using a 30lb thrust turbine. Jim

The nice clean look. I think they did a nice job with the decals I just don't like having the same plane as everyone else. Jim

RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
I started out with the p80 and then changed to a p120 and love it. Although not much faster it jumps off the runway and will climb like a jet should. My 2 cents, go big! Jim

RE: HABU 32?
The Habu seems a little faster now that I have flown it 20 times. I've been told the batteries have to be charged a few times before they come to life. We are now getting speeds around 136 mph ( strange ) I don't think with the stock set up a 45c battery is going to make a difference. I'm pulling 1700 watts and 74.5 amps and after a hard flight my battery is cool as a cucumber. Jim

RE: HABU 32?
I picked up my Habu 32 on Tuesday and flew it this morning and was a bit disappointed in the speed. We put the radar gun on it and saw 111mph and 124 in a dive, not what the factory quotes. Im running 6s 5000 30c batteries and the stock equipment. The plane flies nice and is very stable, so other than the not so blistering speeds all is well. Jim

I was wondering if you had the room to assemble the plane inside. You mentioned getting a new van. Did the new Waco have something to do with that? Looking good... Jim

Eagledancer Thanks for the kind words but I have to admit the Gee Bee has bitten me as well. There are some scrapes on the top of the cowl and fin from a slide down the runway on it's back. I leave them there to keep me from getting over confident. Jim

RE: Composite-Arf 33% Gee Bee R2 - First Flight - Pics - Videos - L@@K
Can you take a picture of you plane from the front, back and sides. I think it is a dihedral issue. If you are used to flying an Extra or Yak or any other plane of that type you may be expecting to much from the Gee Bee. This is not a Carden Extra! When I fly my Waco for a while and then jump back on the Gee Bee it scares the pants off me. I will check my dihedral, C/G and a few other things and we can compare. Jim

RE: Black Horse 90 inch Corsair
Hey Guys, I test flew my Corsair this morning. I used a DLE 55, plenty of power and light. ( I had to add 1 1/2 pounds of lead to the nose. ) The plane itself is very nice but the gear is crap. Although it did work fine, I can see it will need a replacement in the near future. Here a video of the first flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8FEOln7wqw Jim
