RE: D4
The contest is this weekend! I will be there Friday afternoon if anyone wants to sign up early. Pilots meeting is at 9:00 AM Saturday with flying beginning as soon as we can get it all together, probably about 10:00 AM. I plan on flying 4 rounds Saturday and 2 on Sunday, weather permitting. There will be at least one food vendor on site 3 with the pylon racers. We are on site 1. I have requested that the hot dog vendor come and visit us. Bill Pritchett is looking for indoor flyers for a Friday night demo at an elementary school nearby. If anyone is a hot foamy pilot and wants to participate, I'm sure there is room for more. BYOP. That's about it! Remember that we are 2.4 only.

RE: D-4 NATS Tune-up
It went great! Thanks to everyone for showing up, 29 contestants. The weather was excellent, well a little windy. It's always windy in Muncie. It looks like we will make a nice donation to the WC team from the proceeds. Let's do it again next year.

RE: D-4 NATS Tune-up
I got the call from the food vendor today. He will be there for lunch selling burgers, dogs, fries, etc. I think it will be very healthy eating! Well it probably won't, but it sounds good to me!

RE: D4 Calendar
Yes Pete, I plan on being at St. C. The flying is always fun but the food and people are hard to beat, even if they are Steeler fans. I'm planning on stopping in Georgia next weekend to fly at the D2-D3 shootout, then heading on down to Florida for a few more days of vacation. A contest before Toledo should be interesting. I know I haven't practiced enough but who cares?

RE: D4 Calendar
The main issue in Hebron is the runway. It is in lousy shape. I was flying today and we were talking about the need to fix it. We still have several months until September. If a miracle occurs in the next few weeks and the club decides to work on the runway, we'll see what it looks like. There is a plan to roll it. It needs it and it needs grass!

RE: D4 Calendar
I see a few questions here that I can answer. First up, the NATS Tuneup for Muncie is set for June 9-10. I sent in the sanction request a while back and haven't received it back yet. I guess I need to check on where it went. There isn't a contest in Hebron this spring because I just don't have time to do it and we didn't get much of a turnout in the past. It may get revived next year. It's looking more like the D-4 finals will be in Muncie the last weekend in September. We need to get Bob and Mark to make that decision final but I think that may be it. The runway in Hebron needs some work and we'll have to see if the club wants to do it. I hope that helps.

RE: St Clairsville Wrap Up
As usual, I had a great time! I am impressed with how you guys have built up the event over the past few years. The food is great and everyone is really friendly! Oh, I enjoyed the flying too. You will stay on my calendar for the forseeable future. Thanks for having us.

RE: St Clairsville Contest
Verne, Call me at 859 391-1412 if you get a chance. I'm staying at the Red Roof also. I'll have my wife with me but she will be on her best behavior. I think Ray Morton will be around also, since he will probably fly until dark. I'm going to get him an instrument rating after last night. I flew until dark and he flew after dark!

RE: St Clairsville Contest
Hey guys, I will be there late on Friday. Are you going out to eat anywhere Friday night? I think that we will get there about 8:00pm. Are we still flying p-13 in FAI? I'm actually just coming for the food all around. The flying is secondary.

RE: F3A World Scores
On the issue of Wolfgang Matt's age, I was standing there listening after he flew today. He stated that this is his 24th straight WC. That means 48 plus his age at the first one. He isn't young! By the way, his flying was excellent, no matter the age.

RE: D4 contest schedule 2011
By the way, there is no contest at Quincy this year. The property owner of the airport died and it was sold. Bruce decided to call it quits.

RE: D4 contest schedule 2011
Ok guys, here is the schedule that I have. I have been trying to get this finalized for about a month. I will get it to Pete and get it on the website ASAP. I hadn't looked at this forum for about a week or two because of several distractions so I didn't know you were discussing it. The D-5 calendar has the shootout on there in June. Bobby must be confused on that. That is the wrong date for the Muncie contest. The date that we have is the only one that AMA would give us. We all agreed last year that it would not be the shootout any longer. We will need to agree on a D-4 contest, I think Weak Signals, and a D-5 contest to call the shootout for this year. The judging clinic is planned for the morning at Muncie and flying after that. I hope you like it! May 21-22 NATS tune up and judging clinic at Muncie. This is NOT the shootout any longer! June 4-5 Northern KY Pattern Contest - Hebron, KY June 11-12 Heart of Ohio - Grove City OH July 9-10 Weak Signals -Monroe MI Aug 2-6 NATS - Muncie IN Aug 27-28 - Ohio Valley - St Clairsville, OH Sept 10-11 Tom Brett Memorial - Detroit Sept 24-25 District Championship - Hebron, KY No Date Yet for Evansville, IN

RE: D4 Championships
John, Check the flyer from the Northern Kentucky pattern contest for directions that is still on the D4 website. It is the same field in Hebron, KY. Also, you can look up the Flying Cardianls of Northern KY on the web. If you have questions, call me. Dave J.

RE: St. Clairsville Oh Pattern Meet
I had a great time at the contest myself. The food and company were excellent. We flew a little too. Mark Radcliffe and I talked quite a bit throughout the weekend and over dinner on Saturday. I flew at the St. Clairsville contest in 1983 and Mark was the CD. After that we both took a long time off. Of course, he was missed more than I was. Most of the guys there didn't realize that he was on four world championship teams and finished as high as third in the world. There were a few surprised faces when it came up in conversation. It was pretty obvious watching him fly that he could get it back pretty quickly. He still has it! He said that he had a good time and gave the impression that we would see him again! He said that he has another committment for the D-4 championship weekend, but Mark Atwood and I were working on him for next year. You will see his picture in the Kfactor. I bet he will get one of those in the mail..........
