i'm actually thinking of selling my brushless CRT, it just got dull because i couldn't break it, and now it sits in bits halfway through a clean, gathering dust.

RE: Worst Hobby Grade Rc you've ever owned?
Schumacher rascal has to get my vote, the engine was a thunder tiger 18, but the pullstart was schumachers own. so they were expensive/unique/awful. as well as it having a ball diff that just wouldn't stay smooth. and the leakiest shocks. also the exhaust came leaky from the factory. second has to go to its bigger brother, the havoc. with this car the engine was the sweetest. and the chassis was near indestructible. but the body mounts were very brittle and it only fitted Schumachers wheel/tyre combos. which isn't any fun when they supply them glued with no foams. and it shared the awful ball diff system with the rascal, which is never a good plan on an off road truck. but, both of these cars were taken to hell and back and are two of the most fun cars i have ever driven. props to schumacher on design, but not so much on materials or build quality.

RE: New HPI 1/8 Gassers
ORIGINAL: Foxy I just don't understand why they don't produce a racing truggy and buggy, a PROPER one, for $500 for the roller with all the mod cons, spring steel, aircraft alloy, carbon fiber and carbon FRP instead of that Trophy crap made of stuff fished out of Hot Bodies spare parts bin. Or a proper competition short course. Or a 4wd gasser. Or, or, or...in fact, lets face it, what is wrong with HPI lately?
hot bodies is their racing branch, if you want a car designed by the same team, that is actually competative buy a HB D8t, its a truly brilliant bit of kit hpi is their cheaper rtr outlet that has had some major success with the savage and baja line. im sure at some point in the future HB will produce a racing 1/5 rolling competition chassis, and it will be pretty awesome. but im happy where hpi is at the moment. lots of cool releases, and some out of the box thinking. i also think the new limited edition savage is a sign that they are coming to the end of it all. a new design should come along 2014 sometime maybe...

Model: Savage XL 2006, all standard. Powerplant: modified hpi 4.1 Gearing: Stock Significant Mods: 17mm jammin hubs, and a jammin wing set up. RE: Badass Savage project...pretty much done, pics page 3.
another update on the cvd's for me, been running them in 3 cars for almost 2 years now. the jammin x2crt running a MMM system on 4-6s and they are still pretty flawless. very little play. and the only thing wearing on the car now is the center diff outdrives. the savage ss4.6 that i ran them in is still competing and when i sold it they were brand new, and are even better condition than the ones in my jammin. and the ones in my xl? now these were the ones under the most stress. and they show it. but i'm still running terra pins, but they are infinitely better than the stockers would have been. the build looks sick man, very envious.

RE: wheel hub correction
recently aquired a new savage xl. literally just plopped on some jammin hexes onto the standard xl axles. one of the hubs needed a bit of filing but it took seconds. then you put on some standard 14mm wheel nuts over the thread. and plonk your wheels on with the 17mm nuts.

umm well. swap out the steering servo for a better one. remove and seal the engine. tighten down all of the wheel nuts. make sure all of the screws are tight. put in some diff fluid if you want. not much that needs swapping tbh.

RE: My top 22 rules of RC
number 12 is a bit off, body clips are an arse to get off when they fit properly and zip ties and fuel tube make it so much easier. and clip retainers have never worked for me, if one falls out it normally just gets caught under a tire and then rips the whole lot off... zip ties are where its at for me [&:]

RE: anything coming out soon better than the HPI savage FLux
but they do cost a vast amount ;) and on thw hole truggy vs mt thing.... i have a brushelss x2crt. which i cannot break, its absolutuley mental even on 4s, and has never missed a beat. but honestly. i miss my savage that i swapped for the brushless system :/ it was more fun when it was going, it was cooler to watch, it was more challengng to drive, and i loved upgrading it to race with mainly because it was so awful.
ORIGINAL: phmaximus I'm telling u guys the losi 5ive is the best Rc car out there... Heaps better than a truggy or monster truck and looks way cooler. RE: Most important part of a car?
1. computer adjusted shocks. 2. variable gearbox, changes with the speed. 3. generally good plastics all around, soft enough to flex on impact, stiff enough to hold a thread. that's the sort of things i would like in an rc. i basically NEVER crash when bashing, and rarely break stuff. it all just wares out or get scuffed up. but i suppose as has been said before there is no 'most important part' as performance driven vehicles excess is stripped and all of the parts are pretty fundamental. but from a starting point of descent parts, and imporving three things it has to be tires, hardware, and general drivetrain.

yup the x 4.6 gets my vote on this one, loads of fun to bash, relativity good rtr engine (unlike the XL) and it jumps and flips nicely. solid as a rock too.

RE: How are rc car plastic parts made?
rapid prototying is whats mainly used in the rc industry... if people remember back before the savage xs was released they were a few videos of people looking at it at the nurnberg toy fair... had 'FRAGILE DON'T TOUCH' signs all over it. this is because its literally printed from plastic. very cool process. you can print ready assembled stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wiyxu9NDFs pretty cheap, fast prototypes. then if all is dandy with the design then it gets put into production.
