RE: Tiger 60 Build Thread
ORIGINAL: tessex And she's ready to roar!!! Weighing in at 8 LBS 10 OZ. I balanced her side to side before I covered her. Just finished putting her together and checked front to back and she balanced perfectly without adding any additional weight. My receiver pack is two A123 cells from a DeWalt pack connected in a 2S1P configuration and mounted right behind the firewall. The only real mods are the cowl, which made me rotate the engine, and I took out all but about 1 inch of dihedral. Maiden is planned for tomorrow morning! Perfect timing for a Patriotic Tiger! Here are some shots. Tom
Man, that is one GREAT covering job!!!!! Looks FANTASTIC!!

RE: PHOENIX TUCANO .40-.51 ARF
Hey guys, I know I have been quiet for some time some but my interest in has not waned! My bird is almost flight ready but softball is dominating my life now as my oldest made the all-stars team. The 70 FS has been mounted as much of the gear. I need to install a fueling port and I pretty much ready to go. The 70 fit ok but it did require minor mods. Once I fly the bird a few times then I will embark on retracts. I feel it will make the plane that much more flight worthy. I would like to thank Jolly and RcJets for taking the time to document the work they have performed in accomplishing this efforts as it has benefitted many of us viewing this thread![:D]

RE: Tiger 60 Build Thread
They would be kinda cool to play with but with the Tiger 60, you won't need them... This plane is so forgiving, tracks so well on take off, and lands just as well. IMO, the flaperons would be more use in a plane that must be landed much hotter than the Tiger, IMO.

RE: Engine mounting question <-----<<
Ok, got another one. Using the FS70, is ok to use a mount where the beams are independantly mounted on the firewall or would it be better to use a mount such as a Great Planes mount where the beams are mounted together. I hope this makes sense.

RE: Engine mounting question <-----<<
ORIGINAL: opjose It's not a big deal to mount the engine inverted. The engine may be a tad "tighter" in it's tuning requirements, but that is about it. Siphoning, if your tank height is off, may be a small issue. I run almost all of my engines inverted.
Very nice -Thanks for the prompt response!!

RE: Engine mounting question <-----<<
I have a Phoenix Tucano 40 size that I want to use an OS 70 Surpass. Cowel clearence can work but my question is about installing the engine in the inverted position. Do or I should I have any concerns? I have seen many planes use four strokes inverted but I want to cover my base so to speak. Thanks, Damian

You know, the wing mods look relatively easy compared to the nose. I'm real curious to see what you do Rcjets!! And btw, what is the other servo for Jolly?[sm=50_50.gif] Curious minds want to know (nuj nuj)! All in all I think it's great how people from all over have shown intrest in this plane and are sharing info. Keep it guys!! ~Dlan

Looks great Jim!! Glad to hear your report on the flight and using a 46 size engine! What size and type of prop are you using? Not 100% sure on the FS70, but haven't given up on it either. Can't wait to see if Jolly post the retract info. That would just add so much to the plane! Why air vs mechanical retracts?? Thanks!!
ORIGINAL: mR JoLLy Hi Jim. I have some pictures done but there are a few more to compile. I will put them all up together. The retracts are an old set of mechanicals the brand escapes me at the moment! I'll see if I can get them on today or tomorrow for you. JoLLy
Yes, please post as much detail as possible related to the retract install. I'm really considering 'bashing' a set into my model. The cleaner lines are really appealing not to mention the aero dynamic gains!! BTW - great job on the covering Jolly!!

RE: PHOENIX TUCANO .40-.51 ARF
Well Jolly I hope your wrong (no ofense intended). I have not recieved the engine yet, just won it today. I did some rough measurements and I think (hope) I can make it work! If not it may be a good engine for a TF Contender I plan on building someday. From what I gather here from the thread, the 46 is somewhat adequate but most feel it's under powered. I guess it really depends on what you want out of the ship. Myself, I like power so I'm gonna do all I can to make it work! Any comments gladly accepted!!!

RE: Great Planes Rapture Rapture Full Build
Can't argue that! I still considering this and the TF Contender as my next kit builds. I know these two planes are very different but there is something very appealing about the Rapture, as I'm sure all in this thread are aware. Too many planes to choose from [;)]

RE: Great Planes Rapture Rapture Full Build
ORIGINAL: NorfolkSouthern That's what I'm hoping for, chashint. It was quite a bit of work compared to an ARF, but I'll be grinning a thousand times over if this saves me some good money in the long run! NorfolkSouthern
Hate to be the one to tell you but kit building is almost always more expensive than an ARF. You will have the satisfaction of taking a plane YOU built to the field however. With a kit you can customize if you wish and use your own color schemes. Word of advice, throw all your reciepts away. You don't want to know what you finally end up spending LOL....

Hey georgee, you mention flaps. the kit I have access to here in the States from Tower Hobbies makes no mention of flaps, just alierons (2 servo) rudder and elevator. The wingspan is 61.5" (1560mm). I wonder did you add flaps or were they standard on your ARF? BTW - Very nice plane!!
