RE: The new Tornado sport jet
ORIGINAL: VF84sluggo I thought it was 'Navy' blue. That shade looks more like Air Force 1 'blue.'
It had Navy markings on it and it was Blue, my error for calling it Navy Blue. Maybe light Blue with Navy markings would have been better. Either way dropping Navy and all Gray paints will be a vast improvement in my book, and an easy way to tell the versions. Mike in AL

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
ORIGINAL: Modellbau USA  I have gotten a around 15 emails requesting for me to make the blue Tornado. Please guys I would like your input. Who prefers the red navy trainer scheme and who prefers I make a te new blue navy trainer scheme. I will not make both.
I say Navy Blue, or better yet a Blue version painted like the Yellow bird, no Navy and get rid of that left over Gray on the Yellow and Blue birds........ I suggest the Blue bird will sell just as well if not better because of the South American influence. A Red, Yellow and Blue Tornado line will be a winner! Mike in AL
ORIGINAL: Jetfan20 Could someone tell me what the degree of down thrust is set on the V2 Tornado for the bigger turbines? Or is it the same for all?
With a K-80F the down thrust set by the mount can be reduced by half. Otherwise at full throttle it will become a yard dart. Mike

Mast Shim TREX 550E V2 FLYBAR
I am assembling a TREX 550E V2 SUPER COMBO WITH FLYBAR KX021007 and it comes with two shims for the mast but mentions nothing about them. Thanks Align. I figure one or both in any combination to reduce vertical movement of the mast to a minimum. I have tried both and the retaining bolt was a tight fit... Any ideas? My last heli was a Concept 46VR so an Align modern day Heli is a learning adventure for me.. [X(]

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
ORIGINAL: dabevan Hi, I've got a spare Jetcat P80SE - I know its more than 18lbs thrust, but since its only 2 ounces heavier than a Kingtech K80 would it be suitable if I dialed it down to 18lbs? I know it wouldn't be the turbine of choice for this airframe, but would it fit? would it be too heavy? etc.. Thanks David Bevan
Weight wise no problem Thrust wise FANTASTIC :) Dimensions ?????? that would need to be compared to K-80

RE: The new Tornado sport jet
ORIGINAL: DrYankum Another successful maiden of my Tornado. Had 2 flights. CG seems right on the money. Only issue is that I just got a FOD screen for my K-80 and it doesn't look like it's going to fit without major surgery to the fuse, unless I move the turbine back on the mount and then I'm going to have to rebalance again. Any input from those using K'80s?
You are correct, with the screen on the fuse will have to be carved on a lot. Henry says "naaa you don't need a FOD screen, we don't run them." The engine is fairly protected and safe from FOD where it mounts, but on a grass runway I will smile on every takeoff since I have a FOD screen installed. I had to move my K-80F to the rearmost point on the engine mount to try to get the CG close, ended up with the batteries installed in front of the fuel tank. The pictures are of the original mounting location and then where I moved the turbine back to. I hope they will give you an idea of the area cut away.... HUGE too huge [:D] Mike

RE: KingTech K-80
ORIGINAL: KC36330 with the diesel in Mikes K80, it has a good bit of smoke trailing behind it, very noticeable in hard pulls, for those of us who aren't used to seeing smoke without a smoke system it will make you think you just flamed out (same puff of white smoke as a flame out)...........and it gives a nice little puff when the wheels touch down at landing. it also had a noticeable lag in spool, could be a setting needs adjusted???
I LIIIIIke the smoke [:D] Just wait till I put a smoke system on it [sm=thumbup.gif] As far as the spool up I have that time reduced greatly with a little more room to decrease if needed on the next flight. Derrick gave it his approval after my adjustment....
