RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along
Del, It's me again just was seeing if there was a way to get away from the metal Ail tips. Also has anybody ever balanced the flight controls on these models? I am a retired Aircraft Mechanic and have worked on some of these fab covered aircraft. ( That's where I got to work with Stits.) Ray

RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along
Del, Thanks for the quick answer. I have used Solortex and stits, found stits labor intenstive and toxic using poly-tone and tac. Pocket book will hold me to the 1/4 scale DR-1 when it comes out in early summer. ( Glenn told me his target is early summer last week.) I have really enjoyed this thread and your work is top grade. RE: Glenn Torrence (GTM) 1/3 Scale Dr.1 Build Along
Del, Have been following this thread for the last two weeks, enjoying it way too much. Keep up the great work. I have a couple of questions Where do you get your covering material you used on the DR-1? Can't find it anywhere. Also has anyone tried bamboo for the Ailerons? I am building Protor's JN-4 Jenny and he used bamboo for the wing tips and Elev, and Rudd. Ray Miller

RE: Dual Ace setup questions
Jack, I have been flying my Dual Ace for some time and have the engines and Ail. on Y Harnesses. The Elevators are on a Y harness also. The plane is powered by two OS 46s. This plane is a floater on apporch but does slow down. Mine has been clocked at 112 swinging 11/7 APC's I through about flaps but after flying it saw no reason to add them. I havenot coupled anything. Ray

Hello: I like what you have done, I am like you on the weathering on a new plane. On the Pilot have you look into Proctor Enterprises, they have a good selection of Pilots, in their Catalog. Here is their Web Address< www.proctor-enterprises.com Ray

Happy in Louisiana: Bearcat arrived this afternoon. Hookemut, what is your C/G Measurement, I have two measerments 100 and 140. The one on the Inst. sheet from the downloaded Inst. and one on the Inst. received with the kit. The Instructions with the kit have it 40mm fwd. of the ones I downloaded. Ray

RE: KMP F8-F Bearcat
Hi Hookemut: Thanks for the answer, looks like I am going to pull a Satio 150/180 put of one of my planes. I have both, My only problem with the 180 is the fuel, it likes fuel, cost me a plane. but the weight is a plus. I don't own any gas engines, that new Satio gas 4 stroke has my interest of late. Ray

RE: KMP F8-F Bearcat
Good Morning: I have, expect to get KMP Bearcat today or tomorrow. Do you think a Satio 125 will pull it? Also how much weight did you put in the nose, one picture of the Bear showed it bolted to the engine mount, if that was your plane. One more thing, what do you think of baffleing the engine to get better cooling, I have a Seafury that is baffled and was able to exhaust it out the scale location, putting no holes in the cowl, except for the needle valve. I have a thing about holes in cowls. Ray

RE: KMP F8-F Bearcat
Hi: All I did was check the stab's and used thirty minute epozy on both tubes making sure that they were tight at the fuse. My stab departed the plane right at the fuse.. You might try removing a strip of covering on the stab and glassing it to the fuse. for more strength, as that seems to be the weak spot. The tubes didnot break off. I was at about 2/3 throttle in a sallow turning dive when it happened. The plane had about 12 flights on it at the time. Ray

Hi Everbody: Santa gave a Bearcat for Christmas, should get here Monday. I have been reading your posts and have learned alot. Was thinking of putting a Satio 125 in it. has anybody tried that engine? I have a Satio 120 that was in Thunder Tiger's Rear Bear until the left Horz. Stab. left the plane in flight, Bye Bye Bear.
