RE: SV27 wont stay in the water!
Is it the "R" version or the older version? Older version has the batteries mounted in the rear, R has them more centerally mounted....Mines the older version and I place my Lipos in a V formation in front of the motor..that with some proper strut and tab adjustments will sort things out, but only so much....I've had 3 SV's over the years, still fun boats, but they earned their nickname "superflip" for a reason.

RE: Runaway boat
Next time it happens, let the boat sit for a few seconds and try the arming procedure for the speed controller, if you can hear the beeps, and then the boat functions again for a short time, then it sounds like a problem that happened on the 1st generation controllers, the capacitors went bad. Adding a new capactior will fix the problem. Theres a thread on OSE about it somewhere....

Simple, you screwed up....[:)] The controller is a 4S ,14.8V Lipo controller, you plugged in qty 2, 3S packs and hit it with 22.2V....surpised it lasted as long as it did,

RE: Lipo batteries expanding
ORIGINAL: Dan S swollen or ''puffed'' LiPo packs, I get asked this question a lot. LiPo cells can and will swell a very little bit, especially if they are getting pretty warm during use. This is nothing to get too alarmed over. It is actually somewhat normal (again based on how hard you run the packs and how much they heat up) and as long as it is very-very minor swelling & goes away after the pack cools down you have nothing to worry about. As packs age, the swelling can get a little worse (again because the internal resistance gets higher and they start running hotter). As a LiPo pack is nearing the end of it's useful life it can show some very minor swelling that won't go away, even after the pack cools, at that stage She may still have some good none aggressive runs left but she is pretty much ready for Lipo graveyard. So yes some swelling is normal, less than 5% of their thickness for excellent packs and up to 15% in others. Keep an eye on them, how hot are they getting? What percentage is left in the packs when you are done (NO less than 20% is the ideal goal) ? what is the voltage per cell after a run? What brand are you using? Also, a higher C rating may be more suitable for your setup. Dan.
Swelling of LiPos is not normal....its a sign that they have been over-discharged and/or stressed beyond their C-Ratings..they won't last long being used in this set-up.

RE: How to change motor rotation?
Careful, if you are swaping the motor wires to change the direction the motor spins...if you are using a flex cable, it can basically unwind itself. you will need a different flex cable as well...better to just get the proper prop.

RE: Want to try FE!
I've got a Lehner 3080 12t (about 430KV) that I run in a 51" mono and with 10S2P, (37V, 10,000mAh total capacity), I get about 4.5 minutes before I bring it in. (tops out at around 55 Mph) To get the run time you are looking for, you'd have to run 3P or 4P setups but that adds lots of weight and its doubtfull you would ever get to 70Mph. Not trying to be a smartass, but despite your apparent gas background, electrics are a whole different ballgame, and something this elaborate might not be the best thing to start with.

RE: Want to try FE!
Why are you looking at 7.4 V LiPos? Whats you budget? What speeds do you want? What run times do you want? A 3080 5 turn is a very hot motor on 10S, let alone 12S.
