RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread
Great job guys. I was looking for a little help with my corsair I have been flying for the past two years. It appears I have a leak in the accumulator diaphram since oil is coming out when I drain the air and the system will not keep its prime for more thatn a few minites at a time. I was wondering if any of you know where I can get a replacement accumulator. the rest of the unit seems to be operating fine. I know I can get a new hydrolic unit from comp-arf but they want over $400 for it and I would like to save a nickel or two.

RE: COMP ARF 110
Harley, Plane looks and flys fantastic. It must have been a very talented pilot who flew that for you. It landed like a butterfly with sore feet Scott

RE: UP4/UP2 plumbing diagram?
It may help to set the system up out side the plane using two air cylinders or a gear and an air cylinder. This way you have easy access to the valves and you can understand the tubing locations before snaking long runs. You can get the timing pretty close between the gear and the doors and when you install it you will be pretty close Scott

RE: FiberClassics P-51 now Comp-ARF P-51
Hi guys. Just received my model and after going through this entire forum still do not have a good picture in my mind of a exhaust solution when using a DA-85. The instructions describe using a tuned pipe which goes through the fuse. Again, they give poor photos and very little disription. Let me know how some of you solved this issue. Thanks Scott

RE: Vogelsang: Where are you?
Barry, Just trying to get word on my Moki 250 sent in for repair last month. I have not been given an info on what is wrong with it or what is needed to repair it. I know Gotz had forwarded it to the guy who does the repairs but no word yet. thanks for the assistance and hope Gotz recovers soon.

Vogelsang: Where are you?
Has anyone been in contact with Gotz or Vogalsang models lately. They are not returning e-mails or answering phones. Should I be worried that will never see my Moki 250 again?

If you look at some scale photos you will notice that the wheel does not full retract into the fuse. There was a clamshell like flange attached that covered the revealed part of the tire. The parts Gramham Mears supplies includes an abs piece to replicate this

that scheme is one I considered and it looks great on the ground, but in the air you are flying a black silhouette. So I went with this.

RE: Comp-Arf Tucano Turboprop
After 4 months finally got the turboprop back from jetcat. For some reason they sent it all the way back to Germany and don't know where it sat but just got it returned. They put a new turbine on and repaired prop shaft and she runs like a top. The only problem now is that they did not send me a prop bolt or washer. I have her ready to retest once I get that and we get some good weather. The wing repair went well and should be just as strong or more than the original. A bit of a pain but the latex paint make the blending the new paint with the old a cinche. Scott

that is really great. It is nice to see people stand behind their work. It is also understandable to see the need for some modifications in a production aircraft of this complexity. I think they are handling it very professionally and it is appreciated. Scott

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread
Hi guys, As I said before just adding from my experiences from the last two years of flying this bird. The cg given is proper. Fly the model balanced, not nose heavy!! This plane flys very much like the real one. On landing the speed needs to be bled off and touched down with the fuse parellel to the ground. If it is nose high it will bounce. Also, most of us have a tendency to add elevator as it touches down. This again increases wind incidence and a bounce results. With proper speed and attitude you need to release elevator ,even adding a little down for an instant will make for a no bounce landing. I still see you discussing pressure to hold the gear. It will not work! I have recently hear that darryl from Sierra is welding the supports together and altering the angle of the lock down. I do not know if this is free but I will be getting it done. I do not have gear failures but only because I adj the collar to lock on landing but as a result it does not full retract into the bay. Just don't want to see the frustration that tearing up thevbottom of the wing can be, in addition to 100 dollar props and possible motor damage Scott

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread
you need to move the collars up on the main strutts to move the gear slight more forward. This will lock the gear in the down position. Air pressure alone will not keep the gear down. You may need to adj the rear of the gear mounts tp get the gear to retrct fully into the bays. Don't try again with the gear set in the same position or it will continue to happen. Also the plane needs to set on the mains in a level attitude on landing and no up elevator and sometimes I add a little down when she touches. If you try a 3 point landing or land pull on the up elevator it will bounce every time. Just telling you from my experiences. Scott

RE: EVO Jet 160VX eval...
I am eyeing one of these for a skygate hawk. Just preordered one from comp-arf. The 180 seems like a good fit for this models since it has 4 lbs more thrust than the 160sx and weight 1.5lbs less and is more fuel efficient. Like to hear some more evaluation. Scott

RE: CARF F4U-1 Corsair build thread
I have around 100 flights on my corsair and one thing I would like to share about the gear is make sure it is locked when in the down position. I test it very sinply by using the palm of my hand and smack the front of the tire sharply. If the elbow buckles you need to adjust the gear to move it forward until you can strike without buckling. If it gives with this technique it will fold on anything short of a greased landing. I have to compromise and not have the gear fully retracted into the bays to accomplish this but it is hardly noticable during flight and is a better alternative than fixing ripped off doors. Ask me how I know. Scott

RE: Comp-Arf Tucano Turboprop
I will send the turbine to Bob at Jetcat and I am sure he will take care of the turbine. I don't have any explanation as to the cause, but I have had no propblems of any type will the engine until this. I will fix the wing and hopefully be flying the Tucano angain soon. I love this airplane and it seems people watching enjoy seeing and hearing the Tucano fly. Scott

RE: Comp-Arf Tucano Turboprop
After having two great days of flying at the Great American Jet Rally my third day with the Tucano ended abruptly. I took off as normal and after making a full pattern my spotter yelled out," are we on fire." The glare didn't allow me to see that but all of a sudden I heard a loud pop and realize I was without power. Fortunately it was in an area that allowed me to land normally. When it past by it was evident that I had shed a prop but didn't notice the wing damage until I got closer. When I got home the next day and removed the turbine I was able to see that the turbine was internally damaged and it seems like rear blades are destroyed. the pieces are wedge into the secondary turbine which most likely was why the prop seperated.

RE: CARF-models & Skygate collection!
Jumped on this deal as soon as I heard the news. The sky gate hawk has been a dream plane for me and this union has made it possible for me to fulfill it. I know that comp-arf will do it right and make this quality product more attainable to the jet community I am already studying pictures and videos in anticipation. Scott

RE: Airpower 5U Pro air valve failsafe HELP!
I just went through the same thing on my Tucano. I recomend you do a set up attaching two cyinders or old retracks out side the plane and get it working that way. The programing is not explained well. I found that I needed to reverse the gear(go) and the doors(do) on the valve and then it worked. The valses fail cannot be reverse so the hookup and normal or rev selection is critical. I It sounds like you are set up in rev and its up is your down Scott
