RE: Proposed car forum restructuring. 1/8 Buggies and Truggies
I have nothing against nitro, I have had a couple myself. But the neighbors, tree huggers and whoever else pitches a fit if you use public land, ie. the school football field, baseball diamond, local park etc. At least the brushless lets you get in a few runs before they even know your there...

RE: Buggy to Truggy conversion
Thanks Foxy, that is the straight forwad ranswer I was looking for. I still think just for kicks I will try some larger tires and wider rims on my RC 8b2e

Buggy to Truggy conversion
Okay this may be a stupid question. I am just wondering because I haven't heard it addressed specifically, Is a Truggy basically a buggy with wider wheels and tires and a cab-forward bulldog body? I would like to try this conversion if it is that easy. And yes I know about the center differential thing, but don't most buggies have a center diff? In the old days I was able to make my RC10 gold pan into a MT with just a rim/tire change and the body posts and body. Am I missing something? Is the Truggy wheelbase longer?

RE: Associated RC8
Ok I am a little late to the party, but that is because I just got a pretty good deal on an RC8B2e at Tower Hobbies. I have wanted an 1/8 scale for sometime and figured since I have had a couple other AE products that this would handle just about anything. That and the fact I am in China where parts are a real problem, but like the states there are plenty of websites that sell AE, Traxxis and HPI. I must say though that the other thread got pretty brutal about the guy who just wanted to know what the best 1/8 buggy was! At this point they all look pretty good and can survive so I say just pick one that looks good to you...Anyways just one question. Since this thing is RTR will the stock steering servo last very long as built or should I consider upgrading the steering or servo saver or something?

RE: Off Road track in Hong Kong
I am in Qingdao in the northeast, on the coast. I knew that there was at least one shop in Shenzhen as most of the suppliers I see on Alibaba are from that area. It just blows my mind that there is not more interest in the whole RC car scene as it is relatively cheap if you go with a homegrown model like a HL (Hong Leung) PM me if you get up this way.

RE: Off Road track in Hong Kong
Just got back from a Hong Kong turn around for my visa from the mainland. As an avid Rc'r from California, it was great seeing some interest in the hobby there. There is a part of the city that has a street of hobby shops that cater to us that are at the hobby grade level. The owners of these shops are totally into it as far as racing and tracks go, so I would just ask them. The mainland is another story, there is absolutely NOTHING here that resembles a track or any kind of organized racing. Good luck!
