RE: Wanting to buy first RC Buggy Help Please
1) I would generally stay away from exeed 2) do you have any idea how fast 35 mph is ? (not talking about when your in a vehicle) 3)if you want nitro go with : traxxas, losi, Team associated, jammin, mugen etc... 4) go to amainhobbies.com and see what you like, there stuff is mostly of high quality unlike Exceed, redcat and the other HSP grands. 5) It's very hard to help you as you're question or wants are very vague 6) http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_44_1083/products_id/165108/n/HPI-1-5-Baja-5B-20-Buggy-RTR-w-24-Radio-23cc-Gasoline-Engine for gas! this is an 1/8th that will do you good! http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_44_48/products_id/119503/n/OFNA-Hyper-7-TQ-Sport-RTR-1-8-Off-Road-Buggy-w24Ghz-Radio-Mach-28 oh and non of the links you provided contained expensive cars.. have a look at the HPI 1/5th scale cars ;) those are the best at what they are, and yes you get what you pay for *thumbs up*

RE: hyper 7 or revo 3.3??
c'mon you guys really think the revo will out perform the hyper 7? a race buggy ? btw axial 28 not really a good engine for a buggy the revo may have a higher top speed but its the way they get to the top...buggy's just rip monster trucks are sloppy in everything they do including accelerating..they wheelie etc.. and their suspension is soft so generally poor cornering (yes the revo also in comparison to a buggy.. a 1/8 racing machine well in d the past at least) However to your original question (with the axial) revo is faster

note: all of the pro kits are going to be more than $700 when completed the losi is mainly for racing if your going for rtr the jammin would be my choice then the losi if kit mugen then jammin then associated then the losi just my opinion from what I have seen

RE: Help choose a new truggy.
ORIGINAL: jmaxey51
ORIGINAL: Chris79 Sorry but your probably better off waiting till you can afford more.  If you buy cheap brand you will probably get frustrated fixing it every time you drive it.
+1 at that price i dont think youll get a durable truggy, and parts will be hard to find, but you could save up another 100 and get a great buggy, for example Ofna Picco-$289
200 pounds is about $300

RE: Cheap truggy for bashing around?
ORIGINAL: 1ne8ighty2wo I've been out the rc world for about a year and I'm looking to get back in. I'm looking for nitro, and a monster truck doesn't appeal to me so that leaves either a buggy or a truggy. I like the increased size of truggies and the ground clearance - it seems buggies are more track cars by nature. I don't really know where to look past that, so any pointers would be appreciated. I'm looking to spend around $300 to $350 for the truck if possible. After looking around some, it seems like that's pretty low for a truggy, but I'm on a pretty tight budget here. My top priorities for the truck is durability and reliability. I don't know what brands are good/bad in the truggy market so any and all suggestions are appreciated. EDIT: Or am I wrong in saying that truggies are more offroadable than 1/8 scale buggies. It seems like truggies have more ground clearance, but can buggies go anywhere that truggies can (like tallish grass, wood chips, that sort of rough terrain)
For starters the truggies are more expensive. They have larger wheels and higher ground clearence and are easier to drive in a sense the truggy should take a look at is the Thunder Tiger St-1 as it is one of the more durable truggies as the rep it has on this forum states

RE: losi 8ight vs. lstxxl
please stop stating "wheelie" as a positive. It only slows you down and gives you less control. Beside how good is the xxl at wheeling? The only upside to an MT is the larger wheels and the ground clearance you have been hating on truggies waaay too much since you sold yours.. I admit i don't have much experience with Truggies but you had a bad experience with an RC8t(I think) and then you start hating on all truggies. Whats up with that? also you seem to always make generalisations when it comes to truggys but no MT's? All truggies are quite different in build quality etc although they may appear similar

RE: losi 8ight vs. lstxxl
ORIGINAL: karlracing im wondering about jumps, the truggy is gonna bottom out and hit pretty hard compared to the mt
actually thats a good thing!! they are designed to bottom out (chassis slap to be exact) its to spread out the impact through out the chassis which has a large surface and can take more abuse instead of putting all that stress on the suspension parts like an MT would..breaking shocks etc

RE: Considering switching to brushless from nitro, need pros and cons
ORIGINAL: Bmr4life To be honest, brushless isn't any more difficult than brushed until you start using lipos. Same example holds true. Anyone can take a brushless traxxas vehicle, stick a battery in it and get going.
whats brushless without lipos? you can take a traxxas vehicle pour gas into it, start it and get start going..the engine might not last very long but hey you said CAN and remember never say "anyone can" lol some people even get that (electrics) wrong some how. People are amazing

RE: Considering switching to brushless from nitro, need pros and cons
ORIGINAL: Bmr4life I have to argue that electric is FAR simpler than nitro. I'm talking about brushed electrics. Anyone can charge a standard NiMH battery and put it into a traxxas stampede and start driving. It takes skill and knowledge to run nitro. There is NO nitro motor that can withstand the beatings that a silver can 540 mabuchi motor can handle.
They are not on the same level sorry.. you need to compare brushless to nitro

From the quality the Nova is way better, the only minus is the flat head screws but i will put a set of tony screws...This engine is wrong that it write buggy engine it have so bottom end power that is exactly for truggies...at the comparison the Dynamite is more powerfull for sure, with the dynamite the truggy it was ready for wheelies... but you dont need so much power it is not monster... The nova is more smoother while the dynamite was so aggressive that you cant drive it...But the bottom end of the Plus4 reminds me the torque of the Dynamite 28 .... RE: why is the trx 3.3 so stubborn.
ORIGINAL: Snook Man
ORIGINAL: piddlefoot Actually the hotter the outside temperature is the richer you will need it, to prevent overheats and keep lube up, and the colder outside temperatures is when it should be leaned, but not to much. When air gets cold it get more dense.= leaner tune. l agree though that his truck sounds like its running lean.
<div style=''margin: 0in 0in 0pt''><span style=''font-size: 9pt''>Cold air is more dense, which means more air molecules are available per volume which will cause the tune to be lean when compared to the same tune at a warmer temperature. RE: Truggy!!
wrecking? haha who would do that to a perfectly good RC? Bashing as in driving around playing fields and having fun no racing.. When you buy used you never know what your getting. Many times persons get ripped off pretty badly and you would have to spend what i would cost new to get the car running agen. and quick question: Why do you racers think that bashers should not have good things?

IMO The RC8t s a really high price tag for what your getting, in terms of electronics Starter box is about 100 more bucks..I know its much better but its pretty expensive. That's why I like the 8ight t but then I would have to upgrade the throttle servo

Truggy!!
Ok so I know everyone loves racing their truggy and so but no tracks are available to me.. So I was wondering what would be a good truggy to bash with(sticking with mainstream brands). I think I would like a RTR since the cost of truggy kits are waaay up there and I am not a fan of buying used. Looking at jammin x2, RC8T and 8T 2.0 and others I should look at? TTR St-1 seems to be discontinued and I guess the parts will soon follow
