RE: Gyro Blade450 settings well off?
Hello; I'm still looking for the right set-up for my recently acquired 450 blade. As close as I can come seems to tear off the ground and immediately roll right. I realize that it might be better that I do all the expensive crashing on the flight simulator I've seen Blade 450's flown in a controlled way, but mine doesn't go that way.

A wing for my Bravo
Hello all my good friends; I have a lovely Morrisey Bravo, beautifully built, but I lost the wing. Now i have this really well made fuselage but no wing and Iwould like to build a new, but I don't have any plans or instructions. Someone out there has a set of Bravo wing plans that I would like to borrow or buy, I don't think it would be "cost effective" if anyone shipped it to me, it's a huge wing. Or, perhaps, a Bravo kit. I'd even be interested in hearing about anybody flying a Bravo. Mine has a Quadra 50, the previous owner built an externally visual fuel level indicator, so he could check his fuel level from 50 feet away.

RE: Enya 80-4C or Magnum 70?
Hello; I have all the Enya's except the 240, and the 80 isw a different animal then all the others. The 80 has a different head then all enya,s, and a previous owner has buggered up the head by stripping the rockers by tightening them down too tight. I had to put some materiel in there to keep the rocker cover on. What can I do about it? I don't think I can rely on that head unless i can get some new threads happening on those rockers, and I'd like to do a repair. I have 2 of these Enya 80's with that head, both are stripped, but still run not too bad, but I've kind of left it for 6 or 7 years now. I should do something about it.

RE: OS 70 Surpass Cam Bearing removal
Hello; I found that I had to make a little slide hammer to get the inner cam bearing out. Heat makes the job go faster too. I have one designed for English (lucas) Ignitions, that I modified the slide hammer tool to grip under the edges, inner edges. I ground two roofing nails so that I could fit the head inside the cam bearing, and pull on the shank of the two nails. Worked great.

RE: Back when model airplanes were cool...
Hello; First of all, Merry Christmas to everyone out there. All this control line flight memories remind me of happier times. I had just arrived from a war torn europe, I never envisioned toy airplanes that I could astually fly. One day, while exploring our new home; Edmonton in Alberta, we drove by a Dominion store parking lot, where a bunch of guys were flying control line. We stopped and spectated while my Mom tracked down groceries. It would have been 1961. I would have been12 years old. It was all control line, and one fellow brought out a big Lancaster and flew it. It had a big Fox engine on it. I was amazed at all of this, and I guess I got the bug. I now have many r/c planes in my garage, over 40, some free flight, some giant scale, it seems that scale flight is taking a rest lately, and this thread brings on pleasant memories.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Saito's ts90 twin; I have a few questions. Are the heads one piece with the barrells? Is the camshaft ball-bearing supported? Do they oil their camshaft well? I have heard that they are a smooth running, not particularly powerful, somewhat heavy easy starter. This is the twin with the push rod tubes on the bottom, not on the front.

Hello; I've had a few flights, tightened the fuel stopper that caused a huge fuel leak, mopped all the oil out, and am ready to try it again today. So far it's been smooth running, it's needle can be leaned a bit now. It smokes a bit on the idle, but not under throttle. I should try some fresher fuel today.

Hello; I turned the carby around to move the throttle lever to the top, When I advanced the throttle it un-screwed the carb lever. I felt comfortable running it by radio, it idled right away and with the quiet muffler wasn't "scary" at all.

Once you accept the forward facing glow plug, you will get along with these engines just fine. I shouldn`t have taken the 80 out of the 4-star60 to put that OS 95 fv into it. 95 fv

RE: os fs-95v
Hello; I bought one of those 95fv's as soon as they became available, and bolted it into an ARF 4-star 60 that I had an Enya 80 4S in. To be honest, I didn't need a bigger engine, I just wanted one and I liked what OS did to make the 95fv so attractive to me. I posted when I first recieved the engine, but I guess most people thought I was talking about a two-stroke engine, because I didn`t get any sensible responses. The OS 95fv is a fine engine, easy to start and run, easy to tune, It sounds good too! Since it is a new engine, I have been breaking it in gradually, and haven`t put it into the air yet, maybe this Sunday. I can-t comment on the power yet, but it starts easily and idles nicely, and sounds powerful, revs quickly, and is fuss free to run. The new muffler is much quieter then all other OS`s at the feild, nearly as quiet as my Laser 100.

RE: Have you been through Different Engine Periods?
Hello; Yes, I went two-stroke at first (1991), Then it was four strokes after that (1993- present) Then along came electrics (2002-present) Followed by Gas engines (2006 on) Not to mention; float flying, helicopters, gliders, and fun fly type planes Yes, It;s been great, alright.

OS95 four stroke, anybody seen one?
Hello ; I have been admiring OS, engine ads, and I need a 90 to 115 size engine for my 90 Funtana. I had an os surpass 91 that I flew for nearly 6 years in one plane or another. It some how bent the push rods (maybe over revved a tiny bit) After I straightened the pushrods it ran pretty good, but after about 6 tanks full it would somehow bend the pushrods again. I sold that engine because it looked perfect on hte outside, but kept bending those rods. I wonder if OS changed the valve operating system because of the same problem I had, and that that was the best way of dealing with it. anyhow; I'd like to hear something about that engine.

RE: Places to fly gas planes on Vancouver Island BC Canada
Hello; I fly at Morgan's, near the Crofton turn-off. Sundays, after noon, and tues. and thurs. after supper. I know that most old flyers who fly there won't mind my inviting potential problems. For the sport/hobby to thrive, we have to accomodate all sorts, but if you do come out, don't try to change the way things are done there, and respect the field rules.

RE: What plane would make good home for Enya .15 ?
Hello; My Enya 15 is on a "pizza box flyer" which is just a sheet of coroplast with 2 elevons on the back end. You're right about there not being much out there for a 15. It seems that the electric bunch have taken over that size category, so you will likely find something suitable there.

RE: Single vs twin cyliner engines
Hello; I have one of those 100 twins, but I have never had it in the air. I have run it on a stand to get it by that "drops a cylinder" phase; and have found that it'll turn a 13 x6 prop just like a Saito 80. Actually the 80 can rev a bit higher then the 100 twin, but it's so close that it's not worth argueing about. Of course, you know about the big weight penalty. I just wanted a twin, and though I knew about the 180 vs. 360 crankshaft and all that that brings, but beyond 2500 rpm., they sound the same, and run the same, so the difference is in appearance is what I wanted. There will always be people who want to be a bit different, nothing wrong with that.

Hello; I have that kit and have just commenced construction. I was daunted by the foam wing, but I'll try it without prejudise. I have already built a balsa wing anyway. I like the interlocking fuselage, it should support the Saito 65 I have in mind for it. Who knows, maybe have some fun. I don't have the 13 page instruction book, and I see on the plans little reminders to "do this or do that"now. I'll stumble through and make a straight fuselage. Any brief tips would sure be appreciated.

Hello Thanks for the help; Mine is a "A" version, has the little punch mark by the fuel nipple. On the underside of one beam is a HH inside a diamond shape. I used VBA in my trials bikes where you sometimes had to loiter in exhaust smell for long periods. I can't find any evolution oil up here. There seems a lot of room for adjustment on the hall effect sensor mount, I hope that doesn't slip.

RE: Engine silencer
Hello; Years ago I bought an Irvine 40 Diesel around about the time when a cold snap with lots of snow occurred. I wanted to run the engine but couldn't do it outside. I found an old high-start,(a surgical rubber tube about 1/2 inch ID) and a little ice cream bucket half full of floor dry. I clamped the high start onto the muffler and ran it into a garbage can that had the floor dry in. I put a big Taipan prop on it and plumbed up a fuel tank. Then I moved it all near a door so I could put the garbage can outside and run the engine inside. I fired it up and was amazed at how quiet the engine ran without any exhaust sound. It would idle nearly silently. I learned about tuning a Diesel while running out those first few tanks through. Eventually the heat from the exhaust melted the high start, which made a mess, but I just cut off the melted part and started again. I don't think you can get away with confining the exhaust gasses in an alcohol engine like you can a diesel, I haven't tried this with a glow engine, but it works great with Diesels.

Hello; Perhaps I didn't explain clearly enough; the rocker shaft is held in position by the cover screws, with a flat ground on one end. The threads that hold the cover in place are on the top of the rocker support. The rocker support isn't replaceable, unless I replace the head. There that should do it.
