How to flat spot pins
This seems easy enough but I hate grinding flat spots on retract pins. Normally I stay away from pins but I purchased the carf landing gear for my ultra lightning, must have had a weak moment. So how do you guys do it? I tried drilling but the hardened steel is impossible, then I tried grinding with a Dremel tool. This worked but I have too much play also keeping them with the same toe-in is almost impossible. Any suggestions besides buying new gear?

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I did my maiden yesterday. It was a beautiful 4 second flight. The plane was destroyed in a blink of an eye. After take off I had to turn left to avoid 8' tall sugar cane as I fed in left it went hard right and just caught one of the biggest stalks in the field. Lesson learned 1) don't rush to get your maiden in before you go to a doctor's appointment 2) don't answer text messages while on the runway trying to start your plane 3) when building double check all control throws 4) the pilot is responsible to check all control surfaces before the flight. I checked elevator, rudder, nose wheel, flaps, answered text message then took off....crashed. Ailerons were reversed! My BAD.

RE: Larger pipe for FEJ F-15 1:7 / P-200SX
I run an AMT Oly in mine and yes the pipe is slightly bigger, better quality, and causes less power loss. Tam is familar with the plane and got me my pipe in less than 2 weeks.

RE: Skymaster F-100
It is hard to understand that no one has experience with the Skymaster F-100. BVM's is well known, flies great, but is 4 times the price. Maybe Anton could speak of the number sold recently or someone who has built and flown one will chime in!

RE: Do you charge your batteries while left in your plane?
I have always charged my LI-IONS in the plane. I leave my planes in a trailer in my garage and I even charge overnight. I wanted people to vote on but for some reason its not working which is probably something I have done wrong. What prompted me to do the poll was a fellow jet flyer just lost a couple of planes due to a battery fire. The battery was a lipo. I am completeing a 1/7 f-15 and was about to stuff the batteries in the nose, but started getting second thoughts. So no stupidity Murdock just trying to see what what most people do. I will continue to charge the batteries while in the planes but will no longer do them unattended. I may even start taking them out...safety first. There are a lot of things we take for granted with our jets.

I am not sure why the poll is not working. Any suggestions? It does look like most charge in the plane and most use A123.

Do you charge your batteries while left in your plane?
With the recent battery discussions (and fires) at our club I am curious where most people charge their batteries...in the plane or take them out.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
So what is the prefered method for securing the pins? 1) File flat spots on the pins, or 2) Drill holes on the pins for the retaining bolt to grip

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
My issue with the pins is that I find grinding the flat spots to be a real pain in trying to get the wheel lined up correctly. I like the look of the C-ARF struts though.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
I too would like to buy this jet but I do not like main gear struts that have pins. Did any of you come up with a good alternative to the gear C-ARF supplies? Todd (Dreamworks) have you got anything in the prolink or electron that will work for this plane?

RE: CARF or Skymaster
I have built and flown both SM, C-ARF and Extreme Jets (lower line of SM). The Extreme jets is a cheaper line for SM and the quality or lack of shows up. The BVM supplemental instructions are great as are some of the parts upgrades from BVM. The SM line lacks instructions which is OK if you have built a few jets or have someone to lean on for help. I have built 2 Extreme Jet, 5 C-ARF and 2 SM. The C-ARF is good instructions, most are built very well, no re-engineering. The planes that I have from all three brands fly great. Replacement parts is really where the rubber meets the road. I get quick responses from C-ARF (Andy Kane), quick delivery, and resonable pricing on the replacement parts. SM on the other hand requires numerous phone calls just to get parts on order. I don't think I will order any more Extreme Jet planes but I will continue to order both C-Arf and SM kits. If C-Arf offered more scale planes I would probably just stick with them. I just ordered a Ultra Flash and I am thinking about ordering another SM kit. BTW, BVM is great quality and I just wish they made a bigger F4 or F100:)

RE: Maj. Woody's X-Treme Jets BAE Hawk 1/5.5
I just had the same issue on a Panther, the right flap would not work and upon inspection I found the dubro arm was slipping on the spline. Fortunately for me it happened on the taxi in from a flight.

RE: Fei-Bao 1/7th F-15 Build
OK this is the build that just keeps on giving...but from what everyone says is that it flies great! I have installed my elevators and after tightning the bolts I still have a little play in the surface. the pin is not quite the same width as the notch in the elevator rod. It is not much play but I am just wondering if you guys had this and did you leave it alone or is there a fix? Also my pipe is too long so it looks like I will cut it down some and then cut the inlet ducting as well. The big old OLY takes a lot of room!

RE: Dreamworks Takes on Fromeco....
I would like to see you stock Lithium Ion batteries with EC3 connector and balance plug. BTW which ever battery you stock make sure to stock a simple method (cable) to charge the battery w/o removing from the plane.

What servos are you guys using for the rudders. I was going with 8411's but they don't fit, at least not with out a lot of cutting.

RE: Fei-Bao 1/7th F-15 Build
Lewis and other F-15 builders, I am just starting my Fei Bao F-15E, the kit is one of the earlier models that I bought from Wagner when he was in business. After much delay I am finally get this thing built. I just wanted to know if there are any issues I should be aware of before the maiden flight. I had heard of the UC issue so I got new main retracts and a nose strut from GJC. I have read this thread and some others just trying to make the build a success. Recently on another thread, that was very old, someone stated a problem with the main wheels and brakes...is this something to be concerned with? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Mike, can you give us some insight on how to set up the gyros properly. I tried the 370a in a 3d plane and didn't like the feel. I would love to put them in a couple of my jets.
