RE: GEE BEE R3 RACER??WOW!!!
Well, it's in a box so no pictures of mine but it's a great planes model and it's supposed to be an 'easier' way to learn to do 3d maneuvers. We'll see. Here is a stock photo. [image]http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1271-don-a.jpg[/image] Nowto get back to the issue of the 4S question, what are others putting in these things? I thought a 180 would be great because it would; -sound good -enable the plane to go fast (it is a racer after all) -would be true to the design of the original gee bee's (really, probably way more motor than the plane needs) -could easily be used in lots of other planes if the wings folded from the excessive speed :)

RE: GEE BEE R3 RACER??WOW!!!
Avaiojet, I don't have this plane. Sorry, I can't be of much assistance. I just wanted to put my idea of putting a big 4S in it, just like the real plane (even though this plane was never real). I wish I had it but I went a totally different direction and purchased the 60-90 sized U-Can-DO.

RE: GEE BEE R3 RACER??WOW!!!
In my opinionfor what that's worthnot much :). I'd go with as big a 4S as reasonable to make it as correct as possible. Even though this plane was never a true production plane, Gee Bees as you know were basically just an engine with a prop and some wings. I have not purchased this plane yet but I contemplated it. At that time I was considering a Saito 180 for it. Again, for what it's worth. I don't think id like it nearly as much with a 2S in it from a sound perspective if nothing else.

Ok VultureI think we're all waiting to see what you went with for power and the flight report. Why must you keep us all waiting? I'm jealousI wish I had one right now.

Yo WHyou there?
I sent WH an email a couple of weeks ago asking for an extra 'H' for my plane for each side of the fuse (the one that goes upside down :)) but I haven't received a response yet. I know you guys were out of town (or still may be). Just trying to get in touch with you, not writing to belly-ache. please look for an email from draces1(remove this part)@yahoo.com. thanks in advance.

RE: ball links hitech arms--WH Suhkette?
I'll be interested to see how that turns out. We'll all owe you for the experiment!

That was me. I was looking at your build thread earlier. Sweet. I must say, the pictures don't do it justice. Can't wait to see yours (and mine) in the air! :)

ball links hitech arms--WH Suhkette?
Is it ok for me to use the arms that come with the hitech servos along with the ball-links that come with the optional hardware kit or should I go with some aftermarket arms? The hitech arms I'm referring to are the plastic ones that come with the 5955's and the 5645's. Thanks!

So is 168 oz in of torque enough for all of my surfaces on the wild hare sukette? Thanks again

RE: Recommended servos 29% Sukhoi
So the torque of the HS-5645MG (168 oz/in.) would be sufficient for this plane? Thanks again for the input.

Recommended servos 29% Sukhoi
I am just wondering what servos to go with for my 29% WildHare Sukhoi. I don't want to spend 115 each if I don't have to. How much torque do I need for Aileron, Elevator, Rudder? Any input is appreciated!

rare earth magnet canopy mounting
I'm considering mounting my canopy piece using rare earth magnets epoxied into place so that there is wood in between the + and - poles of the two magnets. I plan on using several (4 pairs perhaps) to accomplish this. This way I will avoid having to use unsightly screws etc that are in clear view externally. My question is, does anybody know of any potential pitfalls in doing this? First and formost, magnetic field interference with the electronics in the plane. My initial thought is that the magnets are in such close proximity to one another that very little magnetic fields would be exposed but I thought I'd better ask the experts before I kartwheel a $2000 plane due to something stupid. Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

Wild Hare 50cc Sukhoi DA-50 Mounting ?
I have just purchased my DA-50 for my Wild Hare Sukhoi 29%--50cc and while test fitting and measuring for engine placement, I figured that I need standoffs somewhere in the range of 4+ inches. Seems a bit long to me but I guess I just wanted to check before I go down that road. Has anyone else here had experience with mounting the DA-50 in the Wild Hare Sukhoi 50cc and if so, how did you do it? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
