RE: Used AutoCad
I still use 2002 and it is working fine for me, i use XP. it does everything that I want it to do. I havnt learned the 3d part yet but I have using autocad since about 2000. If your really stuck on Autocad, there is always the non 3d version of Autocad LT for alot less money.

RE: NEW SPAD GLUES?
ORIGINAL: stumblebum2 I have been spadding for 3 years. I have built 3 BUHOR's (this is a good flying and my favorite plane), 3 Spadette's (lost 1, fly 1 training my grandson, and have 1 for sale), a Demon, Andy Erwin's Coyote, ukchris' Blackhawk, Spadflyer's Spadboy, 2 of Sean Olfeste's Migs, 2 Dogfighters (1 for me and one for a friend), and one or two I have probably forgotten about. I have used the E-6000 on all of them almost exclusively. I have had no trouble with any joints coming loose. As mentioned earlier, the only drawback is letting the joint cure at least 24 hours. I do flash, woodpecker, clean and clamp each joint. The pressure must help.
you still have the coyote eh? awesome!!!!! there is a glue/flashing video on youtube, "draftman3" i think is the username there, I have also used 3M tape with good results, its for attaching trim pieces to a vehicle's exterior, the "draco" build video also shows that

Sorry Rob, this section is for "combat", not warbirds in general, post your question in the "warbirds" area and you will get a better response.

RE: No new AMA cards are mailed to Youth Members
I got an email for my son from the AMA, it said basicly, here is your card, print it off, preferably in color, no biggie, I will just print 2 or 3 off then have them laminated. We should be applauding the AMA, what a great cost cutting measure. Im sure the platic card cost more than a dollar to print and mail. im not sure how many "youth members" the AMA has but im sure it will safe some money

RE: 2948 Hellcat!
looks awesome! i never got around to making one in coro. I went to spadfest 2010 and met bill, what a cool character. I did however scaled up a corostang to meet 2948 rules and it flew well too

the magnums, 25 xls are doing really well out here on the west coast. the newer open B guys are using them due to the price of the FX. they are a great engine

RE: Low wing spad?
i didnt like the way the "demon" flew so I made the fuse 34", made a RNAF wing with some dihedral and a longer w.s. and came out with an awesome flying plane. I called it the "coyote" and recently I made a coro star 40. I just took the regular 4 star and made coro version out of it. it flys so nice

RE: What kind of servos for combat?
hey Skeeter, we fly combat at Palomar and a few other places, we dont fly any scale thought and we have been trying to get the scale class going. but the rules have changed, a true 1/12 scale plane doesnt fit the rules now, it has to be a little bit larger, you can go to the combat site to get the rules www.rccombat.com , we would be flying a plane that can be used in both classes but will follow the new 2610 rules. you can also google "palomar combat" and get more info, we have a forum there that most of the west coast guys hang out at for servos in all of our combat planes, open B and SSC, we are using the GWS mighty micro mainly, some guys are using the hitec 82mg. any plastic gear servos will not last very long at all, its better to get the metal ones up front.

RE: Is combat dead?
Basicly what Bluenote and Dane said, the economy has taken its toll. people cant travel as much anymore and burn out does occur. i have to travel at least 3 hrs each way to the closest event in CA and usually its about a 5 hr trip to most of them. California still is a hotbed for combat. the constant repairs and equipment replacement does take its toll also but combat is in my blood so im gona keep doing it

RE: 150% Spadstick
I get mine from Regal Piedmont plastics. I have friends that live by San Diego and he gets it delivered to his shop. I have to drive 5 hrs to get to his place since I am in the central Valley. I used to get it from Harbor sales but the shipping got to be too high. I also have a Spad buddy in Reno and I think he said there is a sign shop or plastic supplier that has it there. I do recall seeing it on the net but cant remember where it is. I will send him an email to see where he gets it there. on the other hand, if you really like spads, you will enjoy buying and having 10 sheets. thats how much I usually get at a time.
