RE: Need Canopy for 50cc YAK
I was just breezing through the posts and saw this. I am in need of a canopy for a Dave Patrice 27% edge 540T. If anyone can help me i would appreciate it. I wish someone would start making a chart of canopy sizes or just making generic canopies that might fit alot of planes. thanks

How do you secure your plane when starting?
During our local club meeting we were discussing different methods for holding large planes when starting. I thought i should find out what other clubs are using. Please post a picture of you can. I know there are various types of tail hook products out there but we were thinking of something more permanent that wont "grow legs". Thanks

RE: new to LIFE batteries and need info
I use the Hobby King accucell chargers. At $22 you can consider them "disposable". If they fail you just throw them away, its not cost effecive to send them back for repair. They work great but the most common problem I have with them is with the buttons. I would recommend them but just consider you get what you pay for. At $22 order 2 or 3 and be happy.

RE: Bling 3D 50cc ARF
That graf-tech gear looks great! saved a little weight too. Anyone weighed their planes? I weighed mine a few years ago and i think it was just over 14 lbs. I will have to recheck that to be sure.

RE: How much do you pay to fly at your club?
I pay $210 per year. we have a 50x500 concrete runway, electricity, water and about a dozen shelters with concrete floors. Cost is high but we own the land. not sure what the mortgage payment is on 29 acres. Its nice that we can make our own rules, we dont need to ask anyones permission to do anything, we just have a club vote and its done.

Not sure about that. I had a su-do -koi and it had a much wider fuse. Mine was a 60 size. Did it come in different sizes? It definitely looks like a Morris hobbies product though....

PAINT BEFORE COVERING???
I am working on a fully sheeted cap 232. the problem is i am using bright yellow utlracote. It is not totally opaque. I can see every little color difference on the airframe. I have used a white colored filler on all the dings and seams and they really are highly visible under the yellow covering. Has anyone tried to paint the balsa fuse before covering to make the color more uniform? If so what did you paint it with? Thanks...

I never had any luck with saran wrap either. I usually glass it then use dry wall spackling from lowes to smooth the seam between balsa and the glass tape.

Does my CAP need to go on a diet???
I recently acquired a RC America CAP 232 ARC kit.... It should have been call a FFRC (far from ready to cover). After getting it partially assembled i weighed the parts and the wieight of all parts uncovered is about 14 lbs. It is 80" wingspan. Power is a Brillelli 46 (poulan chainsaw conversion). Since it is not yet covered, this would be the time to lighten it. this is not something i have done before and would like some input on the process and determine if i should even bother. I know i can get carbon fiber gear and leave off the wheel pants etc. what i want to know about is lightening the fuselage and wing. The wing is foam core. Also i was using some hangar 9 aluminum mounts which are about 6 oz. I have some plastic mounts which are exactly the same size but are only 2.5 oz, Will these be strong enough? Second question is about "CAP SNAP". wWhat causes it and what can i do to this model to lessen it? Thanks in advance for all input.

RE: Where is your Site and who owns the land?
Our club owns the land....29 acres i think. Its in the middle of nowhere surrounded by farmers fields. Its nice that we can do what we want, when we want. Just remember that when the club owns the land the dues are usually a little pricey. Our dues are $210 per year.

You have to learn to walk before you can run. Get a trainer plane and learn to fly first. then learn 3D

Not sure if I qualify but i have the 30% goldberg ultimate ARF. I acquired it as a swap meet last year and had to do alot of minor cosmetic repairs to it. Power is a ZDZ80. It flies good but makes me nervous.

RE: Starting Gasoline Engines - Safely
My airplanes are stored hanging on the wall nose up and sometimes hang there for months between uses. All the lines and carb diaphrams dry out. I use a geared Dynatron to start the first time i take them out if its been awhile. Trying to start one by hand can take a whole lot of flips. I start them by hand after the first time.

In Wichita its always windy. I just fly different planes depending on wind speed. I have a heavy old BME edge that handles the wind just fine. On calmer days i fly the lighter planes.
