RE: Good dogfighting plane
My stryker is much harder to fly and forces you to divert all your attention to flying. I'm just looking for a little plane that can whip around hard. I'm using the philosophy that it's funnier to fly a slow plane fast than a fast plane slow.

RE: Good dogfighting plane
I already have a Stryker (F-27b). I'm looking for a plane that doesn't require too much attention to fly, just something to toss around hard. Only between those three planes.

Good dogfighting plane
I'm looking for a good dogfighting plane, not a trainer. Which one out of these three hobbyzone/parkzone planes has the best speed, maneuverability etc. ? Aerobird 3 Super Cub or J-3 ?

What to get... What to get
I right I have already ventured into R/C electric flight and I am now looking into R/C cars. I have a field to drive in so I want something that can get around on the asphalt and dirt as well. It would be good if the car could do around 35-40 mph. Any recomendations?

well im only in colorado for a week, I really live in California at about sea level. What is a good way to overcome the altitude? More throttle?

High Altitute Flying
I plan on getting a Stryker B over Christmas break and will be flying it in Colorado where the elevation is around 5,280 ft. Will the altitude have a significant affect on the performance of the plane? Also will cold temperatures affect it?

Stryker Too Big of a Jump?
Its almost Christmas time and that means it's time for a plane upgrade. I have become extremely good with my Aerobird Challenger, having done touch and go's, loops, stalls, death rolls, even a few barrel rolls. Would it be too drastic to go to a F-27B Stryker ? I understand that it will be much different and harder, but is it unsurmountable? Also can the Stryker climb vertically and not stall? (meaning it has enough power to overcome the weight of the plane) Thanks

RE: Sorry more Aerobird Challenger or Firebird Freedom Questions
The Aerobird performs beautifully in pro mode. I've gotten it to do loops stalls, death dives, even a few "barrel rolls". The Freedom, having a bigger engine, has a bit better climbing power and speed. The Aerobird is very maneuverable though. As far as durability goes, the Aerobird wins hands down.

RE: Aerobird Challenger or Firebird Freedom?
I went through this same dilemma and chose the Challenger. Its been through a few crashes and is still in great condition. The Freedom is a bit too fast for a beginner. It will probably get phased out when the Aerobird Swift comes along.

Official Aerobird Swift Thread
This is the official thread for the new Aerobird Swift which was just announced and comes out in November. It is a 3-channel aileron trainer. It is a good plane to fill in the gap between the ABC/Freedom and the P-51/Stryker. Looks to be a cool plane. Check it out at www.hobbyzone.com

RE: Sonic Combat Module Questions
Jeez you guys are rough. We have a 30 foot no shoot policy (dont shoot when less that 30 feet up), no shooting during landing or takeoffs. I fought my friend and he was mad because I kept flying into the sun. I thought it was a good tactic especially with an ABC b/c it's orange. When we were tied at 2 hits each i get him when he was low on power (he never said truce). I think managing the throttle is a smart thing to do, just wait you opponent out and attack when he is weak. After all, there is no mercy in war. One more thing, do you think an ABC vs. an ABX is a fair fight? The ABX pilot has about a year of experience over the ABC pilot.

Sonic Combat Module Questions
The sonic combat module is very fun. My friend and I throughly enjoy dogfighting. But I had a question. In the manual, it says that when your plane is hit, it will lose power and emit a loud sound for 10 seconds. I was testing my friend mines and it only cuts power for 5 seconds. Could it be because I am in sport mode? Or maybe hobby zone changed it to 5 because 10 seconds is too long without power. I mean 5 seconds is manageable but 10 seems severe.

Aerobird Challenger Barrel Rolls
Is it humanly possible to do a roll in an Aerobird Challenger? My friend has tried several times, one time resulting in a folded wing. I read somewhere that you could do a roll by diving down to gain speed, then pull up and turn at the same time. I tried this and it always results in a sort of hammerhead stall/ channdel. One more thing. Would it be wise to buy a new wing to not run the risk of my stock wing folding? I have about 25 flights on the stock wing and the wing has a few "beauty marks" but nothing to serious.

RE: Use "Sonic Combat Module" as "Lost Model Locator?"
Yeah I have one of those and those suckers are LOUD. I can barely stand it on the ground next to me. I lost my plane in the sun and used the blasts to find it. It can be heard for a few hundred feet.
At SPORT mode the one flap deflection gives the combined result of turn and a bit of UP.
Yeah I've noticed that when I turned I would have to push forward (down) simultaneously to keep it from climbing.

Sport Mode vs. Pro Mode
Well I've been flying my Aerobird Challenger in sport mode for a while now (13 flights to be exact) and have been in one sonic combat fight. I was wondering if I am ready for pro mode and wanted to know how much better it is and if it is easy to fly. How much more control do you have? Is it better for combat?

I would recoment the Hobbyzone Aerobird Challenger. Its a great 3 channel plane to learn on and is more forgiving and less money. Its easy to fly and can pull of a few tricks.

Wing Reinforcement
I have recently bought a Hobbyzone Aerobird Challenger and am hearing stories about the wing folding while doing tricks or tight turns. Is this something to be worried about? Should I reinforce it with wire or balsa wood or should I just replace the wing periodically?
