Blue Groove Concepts makes a nice set of sway bars. They fit my FLM LCG chassis no problem and they work as advertised. RE: CEN piggyback shock's
Good luck with that...I'm pretty sure CEN doesn't sell assembled GST shocks separately, just the parts. That's why you only see them on Ebay, from trucks being parted out. And whatever "LHS cost" is on the parts, I can guarantee it'll still be a ton more than what they go for on Ebay, where you can easily get 4 shocks for $15.

RE: Pics of extended chassis
Here's a Fastlane Machine (FLM) extended chassis. For comparative purposes, when my Savage had stock TVPs, that stand you see there would barely touch the front and rear control arms at the same time. RE: New alloy shoes eaten in one sitting!
Looks like your shoes were rubbing against the front of the CB pretty badly to me. My suspicion would be that the CB wasn't shimmed far enough away from them, causing them to hang up.

RE: 1/2 offset
Actually, heavy wheels do the opposite...they're harder for the springs/shocks to keep on the ground over bumps, due to the increased inertia. You won't have a problem though, they're not crazy heavy or anything.

RE: Engine Roll Bar
LOL I guess it depends on whether you want to keep thrashing your cooling head/motor/motor plate/etc. The Savage X head protector helps a lot, especially if you shim the back of it up a bit...raising the body mounts also helps, both in conjunction with the roll bar of course. Unless weight is a MAJOR concern or you want the body to sit super-low, I say keep the bar!

[&:] I agree with binaryterror, you should buy unglued tires and them pick the wheels you want. That way, you'll have a LOT more options than what you'll find pre-glued. If you search "savage wheel" in Toys & Hobbies on Ebay, you will find tons of 17mm wheel options....same goes for the tires. Dont even look at Amain's prices, Ebay kills everyone as far as wheel and tire prices.

RE: Engine runaway!!
I would still always, always run a return spring on the carb...I re-used my F4.6's spring on my LRP, even though I run a Spektrum with a built-in failsafe. If the throttle linkage comes off/breaks/etc.(and I have seen this), no failsafe in the world will stop the truck, but even a somewhat wimpy return spring will. Just my 1 1/2 cents!

RE: Blue Groove Swaybars
ORIGINAL: Parputt537 Looking at your pictures I have a question. In the pictures of the sway bars on the paper towel and scale the sway bars look flat. However, in the picture with the shot under the rear of the truck, it looks like you put a bend in the sway bar to clear the rear drive axle. Is this the case? Did you have to modify the sway bars fore and aft to clear the drive axles?
The sway bars were, and still are, perfectly flat...I didnt have to modify anything whatsoever. This kit wasn't specifically made for an extended LCG FLM chassis, of course, so I imagine there would be a lot more room back there with stock TVPs. The rear bar is close to my LRP's (huge) pullstart, but not too close. As far as the driveshafts and dogbones, there's plenty of clearance, unless maybe you were running the HPI suspension conversion kit, because then the upper A-arms would be closer to the bones. Here's a better close-up of the rear bar: The front bar also fit fine, although it's very close to the TVPs, although that shouldn't affect anything anyway... Blue Groove Swaybars
I recently got a set of sway bars from Blue Groove Concepts ( http://www.bluegrooveconcepts.com/cart/index.php?target=products&product_id=29885 ), and I think they're so cool, I wanted to see if anyone else has tried them yet. Check it out... Here's what I got in the package...2 bars, 4 CF links, 5 slings to attach them to the upper A-arms (one is an extra), 8 stops, and new screws to attach the links to the skidplate braces... Just for fun, I weighed the setup to see how much weight they would add... I can live with an extra 2.1 ounces. Here's a couple of closeups of how they install...I like the idea of the rubber slings, it lets you adjust the bar's effectiveness by how tight you pinch them around the arms. One shot of the chassis with them installed....BTW, this kit is for a standard Savage/Savage X, but it happens to fit my FLM chassis just fine. IDK how it fits any other brand of TVPs, I guess maybe the pictures might help. I think these guys did a great job for the $28 they want, and I'll update this after I run them for a while and play with the adjustments. What do you all think?

I know a few folks with XLs and they're digging them big-time. If it was out last year I would have bought one in a heartbeat...it's a relative bargain considering all the upgrades it comes with. Oh, and I'm about positive the K4.6 pullstart is a direct fit if you wanna go that way...I would...

RE: engine mount?
Yup, screws and nuts...the recesses hold the nuts to keep them from turning. The only pain-in-the butt part is keeping the nuts in place while feeding the screws in from the bottom, but even that's not too bad.

RE: Savage XL vs LST2?
ORIGINAL: PatrickBW I went and got offset wheels for my X SS to compensate for the infamous Savage proclivity for flipping over...., and I've had nothing but problems - partially as a result of that I think, but mostly due to c.rap plastic quality.. The plastic quality on my X SS sucks - the upper arms break WAY too easily, the plastic on the turnbuckle eyelets (and shocks I recently saw..)rounds out within a gallon, I've broken C-hubs landing wheelies, broken two bumpers carrying the truck, etc etc etc... I literally sigh with relief now if I take the Savage out for a few tanks of just messing around - not talking hard bashing here - and nothing breaks... I still have my 25 laying in parts(luckily, as a part-spender..), and the difference in plastic quality is noticeable.. HPI knows where the money comes from - parts.. They just got some more from me cuz I ordered a set of Dirt Bonz and stock rims to go back to stock layout and hopefully stop breaking stuff cuz of offset wheels.. But even then, having stuff break carrying the truck has nothing to do with the wheels - neither should landing a wheelie, or a 3 foot jump when my upper arm broke... Anyway, take this big ole' heavy XL, and I would guess it'd all be that much worse.. Maybe not, but I personally wouldn't get a Savage again.. But from what I've seen, the plastic can't stand up to the standard size and weight - what's gonna happen when it's bigger and heavier? The LST2 on the other hand does everything well, and has great quality.. I don't mean it to sound like trash-talking, but I'm fully confident a stock LST2 can do whatever %80 of all Savages can, mod what you will..,and not only that, but better.. It's at least as tough as a Savage(in my experience tougher..), drives 100x better(I still like driving Savages though - requires concentration... :-) ), is faster, comes with a better radio, and is all around better quality.. That's just all my opinion based off my Savage 25RTR, XSS, and LST2..
Nothing personal Patrick, but I have seen you claim this a few times, and I gotta call BS here...Breaking C-hubs landing wheelies and bumpers from carrying it? Busted arms from 3-foot jumps? Sorry, but no way am I buying that...I'm not saying they didn't break on you, but something had to have damaged those parts beforehand. Bad landings and cartwheels put many, many times more force on the hubs than landing a wheelie, and even then they rarely break...I can say this from experience with mine, and I have offset wheels too. I also cannot see an A-arm on one breaking without actually running into something first. Why doesn't this stuff happen to everyone else with a Savage X? And no, this isn't the only forum I go to, so if that was an actual issue, you could bet a lot more folks would be talking about the same thing. I'm not trying to play fanboy, I DO like the Losis...I just feel your experience with your Savage is contrary to everyone else's and thus rather mis-representative of them.

RE: Which aluminum shock towers?!
Good points rhylsadar. If I was sticking with the stock shocks, the stock towers would stay...I'd have no need to change them. And, if I was jumping in gravel pits or anything as punishing as that, I would never spend the money on any aftermarket shocks or towers...but I dont bash THAT hard anymore, rather I like to push the truck's limits as far as off-road handling and speed, which tends to favor less unsprung weight (as in 4 shocks) and towers that won't deflect under load. I still jump it too, but nothing that crazy. (My cooling head and engine plate thank me for that!) I most certainly agree about using aluminum where needed...Once I get new towers, I'm done adding metal to my truck...the critical areas (arms, skids, rollbar, etc.) will always be good old HPI plastic.
