RE: HK 500 CMT Instructions..?? WHERE?
Google trex500 and get the manual from there. The hk500 is a direct clone of the trex500. I have one and I used the trex manual. All the instructions you get on-line will work. Or it did for me.

RE: Working on my heli help
And the sizes you will need are 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and a 3.0mm. These should cover all the screws.

RE: plane flier to helicopter
I fly planes and helicopters and I flew helicopters in the Army for 20 years. Helicopters are harder to fly. And as was said, your best bet is to get a sim.

RE: First Flight a Disaster
When you first lift off, the helicopter will bank to the left. It will not go straight up. After it is flying, you can trim it out. So be ready to react to whatever way it moves when you first pick up.

RE: First Flight a Disaster
If something was bent and you straightened it, I'll bet your next question will be "why can't I track it and why does it have a vibration". I found that you have to replace bent items on helicopters. It does not take much to throw things out of wack on helicopters.

What size helicopter is it for? I used wire wraps like from a loaf of bread on my 450 and 500 size to hold on the training gear.

RE: First Heli setup advise
DX6 and DX7. Both great. I broke the antenna on my DX6, my fault. Sent it in and it was repaired for free and checked out and re-aligned. It was over 3 years old when that happened.Great service.

If you look thru this forum, you will find 100's of this same question answered by 100's of people with 100's of different answers.Best bet is go to the local hobby shop and talk to the people there.Find out what they sell and have parts to support.

RE: HobbyKing, your experience?
I order stuff from both the US warehouse and China. Haven't had an issue. 5 days for US and 14-21 days from China for things to arrive. They will tell you on their web site that it can take up to 6 weeks in some cases for you to get their order. I had a bad ESC one time and the problem was taken care of in a couple of weeks. That time period may be to slow for some people.

RE: HK 600GT
You might. From what I understand, it depends on the esc. For my HK500, I have a castle esc and was told I don't need one. Had it for a year now with no problems. If I am wrong, than I also learned something.

RE: Buying a RC Heli
First, how good of a friend is he? Second, why is he selling it? If everything looks ok but you find out it has a bent main shaft or other damaged parts, will he replace them for you? Will he show you it flying? I would look for something new for a little less and use the extra money for parts. As I said, check out your local hobby shop if you want to spend that kind of money.

RE: Buying a RC Heli
First, how much are you going to spend? There are many helicopters that are rtf (ready to fly) that come with everything you need to get started. Your best bet is to go to your local hobby shop. They should get you going in the right direction and will have repair parts for what they carry.

RE: Who 'Ya Gonna Trust?
I get my batteries from HK.They have a US warehouse. Shipping is reasonable and fairly quick. I also got a HK500 from the US warehouse. Free shipping but had to order servos, ect from China. But shipping was not bad. I also use Helidirect for repair parts. Reasonable all around. Just my input.

Point in question. I have one of the older DX7's. I am using it on 5 planes and 3 helicopters.( 2 450 size and a 500 size). Nice radio.

RE: 11.1v tether
I don't think anyone got flamed. OK, it's a bad idea to tether a helicopter. Now it's said. I'll also say I have a 3" scar on my arm from a trex 450. And I also have a 500 size. I make sure everyone is 30 or 40 feet away from them when running up. I also have something between me and the main blades when I plug in the battery ( or power up). If you tether it to a wall plug, you have the wire to watch out for and the wall when you try to fly it. Any questions or commits?? Think safety!!

RE: heli
Your best starting point would be your local hobby shop.As far as web sites, google "building RC helicopters" and go from there.but be careful, there is a lot of misinformation out there. You can get good info here at RC Universe.

RE: whats the best 4ch Co-Axial heli ?
That's like asking " what's better, a Ford or Chevy". What's better is what your local hobby shop stocks and parts are available. If you don't have a local hobby shop, getting parts on-line.

RE: servo choice
I have a HK500GT and am using the turnigy MG930's for the main servos. But I'm using the Futaba 401 gyro and 9650 on the tail, only because I already had them. You can look at what other people are using and go with that.

RE: Thanks To Those Who Help Here, I Need Help
It's not a bad thing to have to assemble a helicopter. That way, you know how to fix it when you have an "unusual" landing.Like I tell my wife, that landing was planned, not a crash.

Safety issues
With all the new people joining the hobby, I don't see any of the "old timers" mention safety. Most of these helicopters are not toys so please be careful around other people and your self.

You won't need a heat sink with a brushless motor. You would with a brushed motor.

RE: HELP! Newb with post crash questions
The gear driving the belt may be loose on the shaft and slipping. The trex has the problem of this happening and it is hard to pick up on it. A drop of green loctite, from an auto parts store, or a drop of thin ca on the end of the shaft may help.
