RE: I HEAR AMERICAN ECONOMY ON THE UP?
I will only like my credit card when I receive one of those black titanium American Express ones(hopefully in my lifetime lol). They are so cool, only 10,000 people have got them through invitation in the world. I have seen one 1st hand from my friend and its like nothing else, its so heavy and too thick to fit into chip and pin machines lol.
ORIGINAL: elven wizard so high unemployment with a recovering ecomony......... ? still doesn't make sense, unless the people that are unemployed are now forgotton
Just said this on the other thread too... Unemployment is a lagged indicator. The USA is currently making its money out of exports and the financial sector again, hence there is no reall effect on employment levels. Once it reaches such a state that sales are booming then more people will be employed. The economy is currently not using all of its resources so productivity can be increased with what it currently has.

RE: I HEAR AMERICAN ECONOMY ON THE UP?
Unemployment is a lagged indicator which is why its not improving. Basic ecomomics. And the GDP is America is finally positive unlike here so you are no longer in a recession. The only 2 large economies that are still in the recession are the UK and Spain. Fun times [8|]

Usually around midnight unless theres a party on; was at a party till 3am on Saturday then went home and played Borderlands for 16 hours straight with a friend. Result = Failure for 1st 4 hours until sufficiently sober to easily aim and kill and game completed eventually. [:D] Im still tired from it.

I would have done the same, I could not have survive from the guilt if I had it put down lol. I have never had much success with small pets, every rabbit I ever got died from myxomatosis despite having all the injections done [:(] Then I got a dog because I wanted something more 'durable'. All I can say is that when he goes a great proportion of me will too.

RE: What if you got fooled?
Seeing as Holden is owned by General Motors I thought it would be all American. Reading on Wikipedia has told me that the current Commodore is actually based on the GM zeta platform (same platform used on new Camaro) The chassis, engine and gearbox are American, thats basically the whole car. And as for the interior its definately not a copy of BMW, just look at that steering wheel [&:]

No, it was just to prove the point about how bad the build quality of a Matiz is, the fact that a tiny plastic car can stand up better in a crash than it can...

RE: What if you got fooled?
Don't get angry man, people here are wise enough to stay away from those cars. Anyway, I found some interesting videos on youtube of the Matiz and Smart which every American person on this forum has slagged off and pretty much called a small piece of crap lol. Which would you rather be in. RE: OEM, but not the real OEM
ORIGINAL: SAVAGEJIM It is to the point now that if I am looking at a car or truck, the very first thing I look for is the VIN (vehicle identification number). The very first character tells you where the care is made. And according to US law, a car cannot be claimed to be made somewhere unless 80% (maybe more) of the entire car and its components are made form that claimed place. I always look to see if the VIN begins with a ''1'' or ''4'' because that means the car is made in America (well, 8% or so of it and its components at least).
Thats quite an ignorant opinion. So you would prefer to buy a Toyota (for example) thats made in America rather than Japan?

RE: want to get my Girlfriend a nitro.....but which one
Speed doesn't kill you, slowing down too quickly does. And as long as you crash under 130mph in a modern Bimmer you will walk out lol. To the OP, don't buy her the RC. Just buy her a handbag instead. It will be used everyday unlike the RC most likely. + buying a RC for Christmas as im assuming you are won't be very fun to drive at that time of year. Although im not sure how the weather is where you're living.

RE: My car doesnt wheelie anymore!
ORIGINAL: ThunderbirdJunkie As an aside... On Jeep forums and other forums pertaining to 4x4s, trucks, and the like...the people that have the most issues out of their trucks are ones that refer to theirs as CARS. IE two guys can have the exact same Land Rover with the exact same modifications built on the same day, but one calls it a truck, and everything is hunky-dory, but the other calls his a CAR, and he has nothing but trouble. Just figured ThunderbirdJunkie would bring up some relevant theories :)
So they are probably newbs.

RE: What if you got fooled?
Just by driving around it looks like the most popular American car in the UK is Chevrolet and I don't think they have actually ever made a good car for the UK except the Corvette but thats only in left hand price and twice the price of what its sold in the US. Not an appealing car. Im just having a look at the Chevrolet website and heres what they have on offer: Matiz, Aveo, Cruze, Epica and Captiva. They all look 10 years old. The Matiz is also a Daewood and I have no idea how it managed to conform to EU regulation because if you crash at 30mph in it you will quite possibly die. The Aveo is a piece of design horror, whys the badge in the wrong place? My neigbour got one as a company car and frankly the quality of plastics on my rc cars is better. The Cruze is competing with the VW Golf and Ford Focus. 2 very nice cars which are better in every way. The Cruze was apparently meant to make a big design statement for Chevy. Well if all future ones are going to look like that... Epica, another Daewood... Captiva is just an insult to 4X4's. Its clear what their tactic is (and this goes to all American brands in Europe) they want to beat the competition by being the cheapest car around and that has clearly failed. They try to sell us crap, fail and then complain of bankrupcy....

RE: What if you got fooled?
ORIGINAL: DaveG55 What about the flip side of the question? What if you buy a relitively inexpensive ''American'' car and find out it's got a lot of high end car parts underneath? You are still being ''fooled'' but would you still be pissed?
Like the Australian brand Holden. Their top of the range cars are actually all American with a LS2/LS3 engine and sold dirt cheap. Same with the Vauxhall Monaros. Im just thinking but no one should be fooled. The dealer should firstly tell you at least what chassis the car shares with others if it does so. The fact that my Alfa Mito is derived from the Fiat Puntos chassis did put me off a bit but during the test drive it was clear that it was tweaked to give it better handling. Also most people who buy a car will research it before hand online or through car magazines and that will tell them what lies underneath the bodywork.

RE: What's the best?
I also think that buggies and truggies are stronger than monster trucks from personal experience. Also it would make sense that monster trucks break more easily in crashes since they are quite heavier so more inertia and more broken parts. Then there are the fools who actually think that replacing every plastic part with aluminium will make your truck bullet proof. They get to learn the hard way and lose a few hundred bucks in the process. Funnily enough the strongest vehicle ive had to date was a 1/10 on road car lol. I was driving at night (big mistake) and hit a kerb at full throttle (50mph ish) and the car just stopped instantly, as did the engine. On closer inspection all that happened was that the front right wheel snapped pushing the exhaust back sideways into the flywheel of the engine turning it off. New wheel and good as new lol.

RE: lol what is HPI thinking?
It doesn't really seem like a hobby grade RC. I think they are just opening up their market to younger and younger people. Basically it could do really well as a birthday/christmas present for a little kid. The plastics on it seem really thick so a kid can smack it about without breaking anything and it requires no maintenence really...

GTR is like 20 seconds faster around the Nurburgring than a Z06 [link]http://www.thering.co.uk/Nurburgring_Lap_Times.htm[/link] Look at the link for different times. However a lambo and GT2 are quicker quicker round a normal racetrack. Here are the times for Silverstone: [link]http://www.fastestlaps.com/track57.html[/link]

RE: So there I was, with my quarter million bucks in hand...
The GTR has its flaws but we must remember how cheap it is in relation to cars with similar performance. You can't expect a car at that price to have CF trim and other high tech composites to keep weight down. Also I think I should add that as I mentioned its a very big car, its quite long so it will always have a weight disadvantage. I thought the Audi R8 has all that cornering brake control and dual clutch but I could be wrong, I don't know much about them nor am I a large fan of them.
