RE: Tekin RX8 Stuttering Problem
BTW, I bought a HotWire interface and updated the firmware on the ESC and problem solved. No more stuttering.

RE: Tekin RX8 Stuttering Problem
At first I was using a Blue Lipo 5-Cell 5000mAh 83P-5000mAh-5S1P-185-40C, but that got damaged, so now I am using 2 3S 40C 4200 mAh batteries. The batteries are perfectly fine and never get remotely hot.

Tekin RX8 Stuttering Problem
I have an RX8 with a 2250kv motor, and a CC BEC. Ever since I first ran this truck (8ight-TE), I had this stuttering issue only when plugging in the sensor cable, so I always just left it off. Now I started having this problem with or without the sensor cable plugged in. Basically, whenever I accelerate either really hard, or just from a dead stop, it stutters for the first split second or so. The worst thing about it, is it doesn't just act like it's cutting out, it actually is hitting the brake. When you're punching the throttle, and it goes from full throttle to brake and full throttle again 3 times all in a split second, you can imagine how loud and violent it is. It looks like the motor is about to come flying off the car. Hopefully someone understands my explanation, if not I could probably make a video. I have tried moving all wires and the receiver around. I tried a capacitor on the power. I tried gearing it down, even though it drove just fine (without the sensor cable) while geared even higher than when this current problem started. I also tried another receiver. Anybody know what might be going on here?

Receiver power switch
Hi I am in the process of wiring all my electronics, and I am kind of wondering what the best way to deal with turning on and off the receiver and the ESC is when using a separate BEC. I'm setting up a Losi 8ight, so there is a nice place to mount a switch on the receiver box, which I have done with the ESC switch. I obviously don't want to discharge my Lipo batteries too low, so I don't want to accidentally leave my receiver turned on. What do most people do in this situation, just pop the body off and unplug the battery everytime you finish with it? Use a double pole, double throw switch that switches off the ESC, and receiver at the same time? Or maybe even use a transistor switch that turns on or off the receiver based on the power coming from the ESC BEC? Or maybe something else I haven't thought of?

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
After I took appart my diff, I noticed 3 little teenie tiny washers that are not shown anywhere in the manual or diagrams, and I can't remember where they came from. Has anyone seen anything like that in their diff?

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Well after getting my truck all put back together after fixing the stripped out gears in the transmission, I got a whole 10 minutes of driving in today before my whole front differential stripped out. After taking it appart I see one of the bearings was completely shattered, obviously causing the stripped gears. I really hate those super thin bearings with the tiny balls, they may be much lighter, but they never last long. I guess this is probably what was causing this thing to turn to the right so much when coasting.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: t9dragon We had a great day bashing our XS's... Mine finally decided to call it a day when the pinion came loose. In all today I broke a rear shock end and split the front arm (I got that one on video), my son made it the whole day without any broken parts.. I will post pics and more video once I get home the internet connection where we are staying is a little slow... But like I have said before the XS is one HELL of a truck....
Now do you see what I mean about the pinion coming loose? No matter how much loctite and no matter how hard you tighten it, it always seems to eventually fall off.
ORIGINAL: t9dragon
ORIGINAL: dspdrew Anybody having the problem with their pinion coming loose and falling down, here's what I did to solve the problem. I just cut a thick metal tube to fit over the motor shaft at just the right height, so next time it comes loose, it will stay where it should be.
Get some blue loctite and you shouldn't have anymore issues

I've never seen a real car that does that. Does anyone know what is wrong with this website/forum? Very rarely can I get anything but a blank white page.

RE: LED Controller Kits
ORIGINAL: Moontan13 I got one off Ebay that may fit your needs: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-LED-RC-1-10-Car-headlight-corner-brake-light-kit-/110791331987?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19cbad9093 The description isn't too good in the listing. It does more than what is stated.
Yeah I've seen that one all over Ebay, but every description and video of it I have seen show it doing nothing but flashing a bunch of lights in multiple different patterns. I am not loking for any kind of light flashing, just normal functions that lights on cars normally do. I have already gotten some guy over on the forums at rccrawlers.com to design one for me. He already made one very similar, so he thinks it should be pretty easy. I'll see how it goes.
ORIGINAL: rs4 18ss unbelievable! i try to open up the transmission to fix a pinion gear and in the process noticed 4 stripped screws!!! HPI needs to invest in better screws or something. The hex holes are larger than the 2mm hex driver and not big enough for 2.5mm!!! wat is that?! first one was the servo/transmission/engine case screw (the one in the cavity!) second one was a servo holder screw and the last 2 were the transmission screws!!! how am i supposed to open the transmission when the screws are PRE-stripped! HPI better do something about this! This is my first HPI truck and already disappoints... anyone else having problems with screws?
I did. The screws are complete crap. You're right about the hex holes, they're slightly too big from the very start, making it almost impossible to keep from stripping them eventually. I replaced all of mine with socket cap screws, because they use the larger hex driver. You will destroy your car before you will ever strip one of those out.

Ran 30+ 2S lipos cycles on it and its still running fine. Just go with the XS RTR and replace parts as it fails apart from the servo. I cant speak for 3S Lipos though use 25C+ or else esc may fry.
I have been running the same ESC from the beinging without any issues.
Are you running 3Ss?

LED Controller Kits
Does anyone know where I can get a LED controller kit that does brake lights by brightening a dimmed tail light, and reverse (backup) lights that turn on only when going in reverse (or hitting back on the throttle twice is how I think they do it). I have found some that do all of these things, but it is impossible to find one that does all of them, and is still being sold. It seems every time I find a site that has what I want, I either get no replies to my emails, or the guy that makes them has been sent to Afghanistan or something. A lot of people suggest Ebay, but it's pretty much just a million people selling the same controller, that just flashes a bunch of lights. I have never had so much trouble finding something that seems rather simple. I have been searching the internet for 2 days now. I don't need annoying turn signals, and I don't want my car to look like a Christmas tree or a cop car. I just want a simple controller that does headlights, brake lights, and reverse lights. Can anyone help me here?

Make sure you don't buy the Pro-line PowerStroke shocks if you are planning on giving it dual shocks, because they are too big to fit in the inner shock location. I ended up upgrading all the shocks, and just putting the stock shocks in the inner shock location. Now I have 4 spare Pro-line shocks.
