RE: Pics of the latest, heavy duty pipe from Fly Eagle Jets...
Did they weld both ends of the outer pipe to the inner pipe ,seen one of fej pipes do this before and that was the reason, one end needs to float, the heat differences between the inner and outer pipe causes them to pull against each other and wrinkle up just like what you have there, i broke the welds loose on one end to see what would happen and most of the wrinkles came out ,pipe is junk anyway so try it and see ,if so then a refund or replacement is due i would think

RE: BUTTONWILLOW TRIP AUG 9th-11th
I think i remember that something like this bandits doing some speed passes 2 f-18s take off 1 boomer range in the air then a heard of flashes take to the sky smoke on while everything gets sorted out for landings a big loud air traffic controller gets in the mix and clusters f-s the whole situation, next thing i know theres a f-18 long in the dirt one short in the dirt and a boomer dead in the center of the run way with 3 bandits doing passes to land my spotter says just land your plane forget about what he is yelling you can drive around the crap on the runway ,,the whole time like you said getting scolded ,I think that was the last good jet event at fresno go figure.

RE: Did you know that you can refill the Power Max cans
hello all i was concerned about power maxx being discontinued some time ago so i bought a few different brands of butane/propane mixes see pics,i had to solder the end of the trigger valve and drill a hole in the side of the stem again see pics,i had to do this cause the old power maxx cans have a different valve inside the can that the trigger valve pushes in when attached, the power maxx has a raised cross that lets the gas flow into the trigger ,the new style cans that the trigger valve will attach to has a pin in the center of the valve that the trigger pushes in on when attached which plugs the stem of the trigger off when screwed down at least on all my valves that is the reason for altering the way the fuel enters the trigger valve, hope that make sense surely one of these type of gas mixes is available most everywhere

RE: How to desolve Hysol
I have used a rope saw in the past to remove formers, get some pull pull wire or steel fishing leader and make a rope saw don't get the plastic coated stuff ,wrap it around some good size wooden dowels and start sawing ,i have used this method to take old air tanks out that were hysoled in also the good thing is the cable can be as long as it needs to be say from the wing tip to the root so you get a nice flat pull

RE: Fabric Runways ?
actually the product woodland has is geotech mat it has better uv resistance than petromat which i think is designed to be and underlayment for roads,,i agree with the other here that the ground need to be stablized and packed well before the mat is used or you will have the hidden pot holes ,the mat rolls out loose and with a few sunny days tightens up nicely don't be shy with the stakes holding it down ,we went with a stake at least every foot with a 6'' overlap for shrinkage in the centers and folded the edges over a few inches for more holding strength it get very tight after time,,in the end it is working fine dose require patching for prop strikes and turbine exhaust burns ,,but on a good note i show no signs of where on my bvm tires[:D]

RE: Balancing question?
on a few of my planes i have even balanced them with fuel in the main tank ,,after a dozen flights i take the least amount left in the tank do another cg check and if i can take more weight out ,no dead stick landings if fro some reason my timer is not started i land early,,seems to me most of the swept wing jet have a forgiving cg

RE: does turbine oil have a shelf life once opened
hey i thought the mobil II and the 254 were a dark brown to start with ? thought it was for the application like to be used in a tank with a sight level ,i like it dark you can definately tell when you put oil in your fuel ,you got a great deal on your oil

RE: does turbine oil have a shelf life once opened
well i am using mobil II with a 1992 mfg date i have used roughly 48 cans of it without a flame out or engine related oil lubrcation problem, i was told that the expiration date has more to do with the additives in the oil for the special type of applications each oil was designed for or turbine engine it was designed to be used in ,all we really need it for is to lude the bearings ,i still have 2 plus cases left and plan on using them unless my repair man tells me different,i get 10 to 12 cans of agg kero at the pump and put the oil in all the cans then they can sit up to 6 months before i use it all up and get more, not sure if that is considered an open can but i have noticed a few of my cans lids have slip so they are in no way air tight (yes i replace the lid when i find a crack) ,all this is just my personal experience and several others that got in on the same turbine oil deal

RE: JL F-18 airbrake
hello i have the chippy ho skymaster extreme f-18c ,i know they are different plane but my speed brake is done with the robart style pin hinges i never land without it after the first few test flights were done,i notice that it pushes the tail of the plane down just a touch but i have moved my c of g back a little also ,i have not tried a flaperon mix but did alter the flaps some to get more travel,i did a taileron mix but never use it my ailerons seem to be very effective but that could be from an aft c of g setting also, the c of g moved back some helps with a flatter take off and a softer set down of the nose on landings, still the f-18s seem to come in a little firm from all the different models and pilots i've seen fly them ,i really like my c model

RE: P80 Jetcat Version 4.9 ecu Nicad > lipo?
i have never used the 6cell nicad that comes with the turbine, one of my early p-120s has the same blue heat shrink wrap ecu 4.9, it has always had a lithium ion 7.4v until last weekend when i swapped it out for a 2s lipo, i am slowly as the ions die switching them out with 2s lipos when i can get the battery out of the plane for charging , other wise i put a new ion in, you will be fine with 2s lipos the ecu dose not recognize battery chemistry it has more to do with the low voltage cutoff in the ecu battery monitor menue ,just keep it to 2s lipos 7.4v before i had my p-80 ecus updated they were 4.somethings and i used 7.4v ions on them all ,,a123s are what alot of guys are moving to for a safe battery chemistry but you need to have the ecu updated with a new power board for those cause they are 9.9v 3 cells.

RE: GSU reads 13 volts????
hey i had a similar thing this weekend with a friends ecu except the voltage was reading lower than the true battery voltage ,was told by another jc user he had seen something similar and that the power board in the ecu has a problem,,i think your settings would be the 8-cell if your 123s are a 3-cell pack 9.9 volts
