ORIGINAL: husafreak Does the Equipment Tray glue into the fuselage as a structural member or is it just screwed into blocking and remain removable?
I screwed mine into a block to make it removable. I also added carbon cloth to the surrounding area to stiffen up the bottom of the fuse. The cloth prevented the bottom of the fuse from compressing when I put the plane on a stand.
ORIGINAL: weazel1 when you buy cheap you get cheap that simple you pay for what you get
Yep, you do get what you pay for. If I were buying a F-14 today, I would gladly pay more money. Unfortunately no one else offered a large F-14 when I bought mine. Prior to buying the F-14 I had absolutely zero interest in owning any plane made by FEJ. I was fooled by the hyperbole spewed by Lowell Wexler and it cost me.

No manufacturer is infallible, but these widespread problems and terrible customer service do not exist in BVM planes.
ORIGINAL: raptureboy It's simple. They are Chinese, they have NO values, NO morals, and they have YOUR money. Write all the contracts you want and ask for pictures they mean nothing to them.  Ask any manufacturer that has products produced there and they will tell you; if you don't watch them every step of the way they will rip you off and cut corners. Look at all the recalls and defective products they pawn off on us. My friends dog was nearly killed when the name brand dog food he was feeding him was found to have melamine in it. The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a bargin price, and I would never pay up front to someone 1000's of miles away for what is essentialy a stock product. Good luck. That's awesome to hear! My builder brought it over today to show his paint work... I had the seam line removed. Can't wait to maiden it. I am a bit concerned about how much the plane floats on landing as I want to fly it off a 500' runway. I'll have to get the approach down at a longer field first.

FEJ honeycomb owners PLEASE CHECK YOUR STABS
I got around to taking pictures of my F-14 stabs and I was surprised at how little reinforcement there was with the bolts that go through the pivot shaft... only a very thin piece of carbon fiber cloth. The bolts were also able to wiggle around in the hole as the honeycomb behind the thin carbon cloth was compressed. I do not feel FEJ's technique is adequate for a 50+ pound plane. I posted this in the F-14 thread, but I think all FEJ honeycomb owners need to know about this. RE: Fly Eagle Jet F-14 Crash (video)
I got around to taking pictures of the stab and noticed a few things. First the entire structure is made of honeycomb (no surprise). Second, the bolts are secured against a thin layer of carbon fiber cloth. Third, the bolts were loose from the compression against the honeycomb. I was able to wiggle them around 360 degrees with my driver. Does a thin strip of carbon cloth seem sufficient to secure bolts to honeycomb? The pictures below are of the bolts that go into the pivot shaft.

I ordered some Tam's pipes because I wasn't terribly excited about the angle or exhaust size on my stock pipes. Tam's pipes came out well and allowed me to get the correct angle while keeping my engine centered in the rails.
