RE: My Hurricane 550's first Hover
Well my hurricane has seen its last hover. The hurricane didnt see as much flight time this year as it did last year, as my skills improved the Trex 600 became my helis of choice. I still pulled the hurrcane out now and again. It saw service when I did my first flips and rolls, the repair parts where cheaper than the Trex. About 3 weeks ago I started working on inverted hovering and the Hurricane took a hard hit. Lower frames , front gear, skids, and boom need to be replaced. No one had the front drive gear in stock so it just sat on a shelf. I needed a gyro and reciever for a Trex powered Hues 500E I'm working on and it got stripped from the hurricane. I just pulled the servos for another project. I think thats going to be it for the Hurricane, I dont see myself doing 30 size birds in the future. 450's 600 and hopfuly next summer a 90[:D]

RE: Best full-featured palm-sized copters?
I've got the mSR and the MCX. The MCX is good for chasing the cat around but it takes no skill what so ever to fly and becomes boring very fast. The mSR on the other hand can go from mild to wild.

5 Blade head without mixer?
I'm working on a HUES 500E project using Trex 600 mechanics. I've got a five bladed head that i want to use. I was trying to use a Helitronix mixer but am having some problems with it working with the Digital servos. Anyone flying a five bladed head on a trex or 50 size bird without a mixer?

RE: TREX 250 CLONE
I dont know if you guys have seen a Trex t250 but most of them are flying head speeds close to or at 3000. I dont think that the plastic head will take that.

RE: 2 vs 3 blade rotorhead
mkranitz , FYI Some of the 3 axis gyros now allow the phasing to be set through the gyros software. I was watching a friend setup a 3 bladed head using a sku 360 and we had to take the mechanical phasing ( he had been flying it w/o 3-axis) out and set it in the gyro software. It was kind of wild having the links perfectly straight. If your out at IRCHA Stan (Doorman) took it with him. [:)]

RE: What should be my next heli
Get the sim and stash cash for a good heli. A lot of guys in your situation wind up getting lured into Honey Bee's or belt cps or other bottem end junk and they rarly see any air time. I'd bet that more HB Kings and Belt CPs have seen the inside of a trash can than flight. Guys getting into the hobby see a low sticker price is and baaam they got a crap radio, junk heli and its way to small and twitchy too learn on. Then to top it off when they crash it on the 1st flight they have no idea how to fix it or get it setup propery. a hundred dollars and several crashs later they are frustrated and bailout of the hobby. Get the sim Save up for a .30 (550 electric) size bird and a good radio.

RE: New To RC
Well since no one has brought up skipping the whole 450 size I'll throw that into the mix. The size of the Heli greatly affects its stability and how easy it is to fly. Before the electrics became a viable option everyone learned on .30 size nitros ( same size as 550 electric). Take a look at the GAUI Hurricane 550. Its a lot easier to learn on than the 450 and replacment part cost is compairable. I got one when I was 1st learning to hover and the differance from my Trex 450 was staggering. Or if your budget allows something in the 600 size. The rule of thumb I use is go as big as you can afford. Good Luck and welcome to the most addictive hobby on earth

RE: my 500 esp is here
With the amount of batteries I use Zippys are worth the added weight. Trex 600's 5 * 6s 5000's Hurricane 550 8 * 3s 3300's Trex 450's and mini T 5 * 3s 2000's They add up. [X(]

RE: semi-newb here
Druss, GY401 will work fine on everything from a trex 250 to a Vario gasser swinging 800 mm blades. the only time you really need to move up from thier is when your 3D skills out pace it.
