RE: Fiberglass cowl build advice needed
i have had luck using tin foil to protect areas like your fuse and laying up glass right over your fuse, the tin foil will allow the fiberglass to release from your fuse, use several layers with spray adhisive to hold the tin foil in place.

RE: CD ScaleDesigns Sopwith Snipe build
i aborted a take off run with my camel, seen the tire coming loose from the rim. i also flipped over on my back. damaged the rudder a bit. i now have a new set of stencils so wont be long before i pull the covering and repair the wire and recover it. so dont feel bad about flipping yours over on its back. its something we just have to get used to flying ww1 types. good luck on your maiden, sounds like you have a winner there.

they are a good company, i have had very good dealings with them. you might give them a jingle to make sure something isnt backordered, but only a few days dont give time to pack your order and the mail system to get to you.

RE: Building Manual/ Bridi Rearwin Speedster
its in the mail!!!! btw what engine you planning on using, i had a quadra 35 in mine and used monocote, ended up using 1 lb of lead in the tail. also something i learned flying this bird. do tail up landings, if you try 3 point it has a nasty stall. just keep a bit of speed up until you touch down then let the tail come down on its own

RE: Vanessa c.g. Rig: How to.
the dowel DOES rotate. use the dowel to adjust the attitude of the plane using the level. you want a slight amount of drag on the dowel so it wont rotate on its own just when YOU turn it.

RE: Sullivan Golden Rod, lousy stuff !
if it was me i would put a 1/2 inch piece of inner golden rod on a steel rod every 6 inches or so the entire length, that will control slop inside the tube just a drop or 2 of ca should hold them in place. solder ends on your new control rod and go fly!! no more temp differental that you had with goldenrods

RE: Sullivan Golden Rod, lousy stuff !
actually the black casing should have 4-40 hardware, the back case was designed for 1/4 scale. blue for 60 size and the red for more flex like out to ailerons. actually i still have a few planes with it installed. and yes they will expand/contract depending on temp. are your black outer tubes a straight line? if they are maybe you can use music wire from the servo to the surface. if your worried about slop cut small lengths of the inner and space several on the wire to keep them from moving around inside the larger tube.

for 1/3 scale i have seen 1/4 square spruce on sopwith pup from busa and its way to small for a good strong fuse. 3/8 spruce is my prefered material

RE: 1/3 sopwith camel
ORIGINAL: David Bathe It's looking a lot better! Good stuff. Still sounds high though, what RPM's are you running at with the new prop? You certainly have the power for looking at the vid'. Could possibly go up some more pitch... that'll help you throttle back some and still have some speed. If you're looking for a decent power combo for the next project you must check out that Tony Clark RD with the G38. The sound.... You'll be absolutely and completely stunned!
hi david, i will check into tony clarks g-62 reduction unit, i am giving alot of thought to a DH1a in 1/3 scale. will have to see if i can get a pusher prop for that unit.
