RE: Hobbico's Nexstar ARF Wing mount Probs
Cool guys!! thanks for the link. That should do the trick. Now i want too have a look on the fuel tank as well. {Edit} WOW that was easy lol..i was afraid of tapering the Bolt but it worked perfect. I shaved off some of the top hole in the front aswell. I think the taper is what did the trick, now its slips in the Mount hole Sweet. Thanks again guys. 1 more thing i went a checked my lines from the tank they are as suggested ,the Muffler line was red on mine which is on the Vent so all is good. May get a Maiden early next week.

Hobbico's Nexstar ARF Wing mount Probs
I pretty much have a Nexstar built over the last few days, This is my second plane, bought a GP Cherokee last year. Love it. So i wanted something this year for some floats/Skis in Winter.9I know kinda backwards But... I wanted something that could take a hard landing or 2 or 3 lol. So i went with the Nexstar. It has the wing bolt to the PivotFlex design. But for the life of me i can not get the Wing bolt aligned with the Mount. I tried the 2 that came with the Cherokee just too see if either of them would work but no luck. I did a bit of research but nothing really, there are a few threads here and there with a few different fixs etc... From tampering the Nut,(Which im not fussy on) too shaving out the inside of the Wing Mount hole, giving it more angle for the bolt!! Im Just wondering if there's any more ideas/Mods. There was a incident or 2 of the wing coming off. The manual says "push in the Bolt till you here a little snap then you are ready too tighten in, Ive heard the snap but only when its off to the side and miss's the block all together. There was the issue guys thinking the wing was secured too the mount, They say there is approx 1mm off set from the mount too bolt, But mine is way more then that.lol Thought ARF's went together easy lol Thanks

RE: Nexstar conversion
Hey all. I just picked up mine today, I have a few planes kicking around. GP Cherokee is my other Glow. Well i have a .52 ASP glow setting in a box for it ,but i seen my friends GP Stick electrified the other day and said man that nice and clean lol Here is what i am planning on getting for my NextStar. Motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=2099 For the mount this should work http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=5283 And as for a ESC im looking at this one http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=2166 And for the Battery Prob a 5S/ 3500-5000Mah Batt I have some 3.75 rubber tires kicking around as well. i test fitted them tonight. I makes her look more scale well also handle longer grass.

RE: Radian foam fix? What glue to use?
I would Try Gorilla Glue. (the White Kind) Walmart/Michaels Crafts should carry it. GG foams up and gets in every nook and cranny. Dampen one side of your crack. Then get some GG on the other part. For the texture of the foam when it cracks. You could use a old foam Brush etc... and dab it around. The more you use and the more water used ,the more it foams. Its super flexible, easy too sand. I tape my Seams with painters tape and it keeps the foaming action down. Or it you want too watch it, just keep a eye on it and wipe the excess foaming glue with a damp Scott Towel. Sets in about 20 mins or so. Try it you'll like it[:D]

RE: Great Planes Cherokee ARF
Flap on this Plane are very Scale like in its flying characteristics.I have flown in a full scale Cherokee.I Usually rent one in the summer months[;)] Tips stall is always a issue ,with the flaps down a touch of speed is your friend. We found that Cutting the Thr at 5-10 ft She would float in very nicely and hold a flair I mixed some Down Elev with Flaps too hold a constant speed/decent. As i was saying i only had 4 flights on her last Summer.Winter here now maybe get some Skis in the near Future[:D] Every flight i had on it i was on the buddy Box.New too a club and had to get my wings...It was my Main landing gear is the issue that keeps busting out.the Block wasn't glued in great(Thin Strip of clear wood Glue). The Second time i Fixed the same Port LG, i built out around the Wing ribs with tripled up lam of 1/16 th Ply. It Seems too be Much Stronger now. Im planning on getting the 3.5''Wheels? the bigger whells well fit on the Wheel pants?. I took mine off after the first flight. See our Strip is nice and flat but very undulated at the root of the Sod. Hopefully it holds up next summer

RE: Radian Pro - A new e-glider from Parkzone
For anyone new too this plane Radian Pro Heres a run down of my modification as of now. There's quite of bit info Some of these mods are personal preference and some are(what i thought was necessary to get this Exciting Introduction Sail Plane in the Air). Enjoy[:D] Well the Weather has been the Poops up here in Newfoundland, Canada as of late. This fall has been very Mild.Lots of Rain and High winds.Xmas is just around the corner and Santa came a week early :D.Let just say it was addressed Too Mike From Mike lol The Pro is Quite the Step up form the Original Radian.Bring the Full house glider capabilities for around $200 for a PNP and around $250 for a BNF. I have yet too Maiden this Ship.I cant Wait, being Winter here Soon. The 30A ESC form Park Zone comes with ES3 Connectors. All my Turnigy batteries Come with the Great XT60 Connectors. So right from the get go i Swapped out the ES3's and got the Soldering Iron going. Battery with the Factory installed XT60 New XT60 Female Installed on the 30A ESC I got the PNP version and added the great 6CH Orange RX with the Satellite Installed.Ive tested the RX with out the Sat and was very Impressed.I flew my Euro-jet with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTD5WRIZqHE I Flew as far away as i would with my 40 Size Glow plane with a AR6200+Satellite with no Problems what so ever...[:D] People have also reported hitting the Clouds with this RX with out the satellite installed. So i am very confident with well hold up for range capabilities. Back on the 5th picture,1st of the Connector Snaps you can see the RX satellite on the bottom left corner with the aerial Pointed Vertical. The main Aerial on the RX is Horizontal.I Fished the satellite lead in-under the battery compartment, It seems it they made the little tunnel/gap for for the ESC> Throttle port and worked perfect for it and the Satellite lead. A few Notes on some of the things new owners have some across. 1.HH stated it was the same motor as the Radian1.People did test .motor do not preform as well as the original motor. New motor getting around 13A Org motor was/is pulling around 18A.Guys have been swapping the Prop to Cam 10x8 with great jump in Watts and Amp. I have 2 on order lol. So is it a Prop issue or a Motor issue? A few Owners have bought a Stock Radian Prop and got a different/higher Amp reading. So it could just be a de-fault/defective props shipped with the Pro. HH have not Disclosed any Info on the matter....YET. So who really knows:censored: [EDIT] HH announced last week that it is indeed a Prop Issue and is replacing /Sending out new Props for RadPro owners.Im not even going too bother.the Prop cost $4.50 ,and if it takes a Hour of my life to get a free $4.50 Prop..Forget about it....Ill stick with my New 10x8's hehe... 2. Motor has a different (metal Housing) Which lad people too believe that the motors are bad, coupled with the lower Amps and very Different climb rates of the Pro vs the Radian. Org had a Plastic housing and there were a lot of issues with the Bell cracking on the old ones. 3.Push rods are in the Plastic tubes that are partly glued/stapled too the the Fuse.the rods are a very Snug fit.And makes trimming the Elev nearly imposable. My Rudder was not too bad.But a great fix was take the rods out and sand them down with some sand paper.I used 120 grit. Some people even used Graphite Lube(its dry and well not gum up over time with cold/dirt. I found just by sanding the coating off ,they work great. I also reamed the inside of the tubing with the threaded side of the Control rod for about 5 mins .scraping the inside a bit,it helped. So hopefully the Winds settle down to at least 25 km for a Maiden.this weekend (Boxing day seems to be the nearest day in sight)...Fingers crossed. All in all With Just a few minor adjustments ans new Prop selection(which i think is normal for most $200 Foam planes.I think its great and you cant go wrong with this Plane.I don't think there's a plane out there that is 100% perfect. If you do Please let me know...lol 4. Don't use the crap pieces of tape they supply to keep the Hor Stab in place,I threw it in the garbage just looking at it. I used some Strips of White Duct tape .Works great and its not moving.:D I well update after the Maiden with my Thoughts on the Radian Pro. Dec 27.2010 Well i just taped up my Battery door with clear packing tape. While flying in snow and getting snow in that area is a BIG NO NO... Notice if your flying in snow or coming into contact with Moisture at all.Might be a good idea.Seeing its Winter here now//With no snow,Just lots of rain. When the snow do finally come, i plan on flying in it. I am also going too put my RX in a balloon. i need to get some tomorrow. I taped the sides of the plane about a Inch past the Door seam .Kinda hard too see. Doing a short Video now. After i went into the Programming of the ESC,I noticed it make a different sound...then the normal "Beep" count of the cells in your Battery. Its more like a Chime sound... This is my First E Flight ESC..Any ideas? Well post the Video after Up load. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5Vhn8soqpI Dec 28th Well found out what i did,I set the ESC for Cut off at 74% default,If that's default setting form the Factory, Why did mine make the Beep-Beep-Beep chime when i first got it? beats me!!!Well its set too that now... So it makes that different Chime letting me know its set for 74% Cut off. Learn a lot by truly reading the Manuel lol..I did read the Steps for Programming the ESC ,but not the WHOLE thing.:o So i went tonight and put my RX in a Balloon for safety/Protection of Snow/Wet grass/Moisture getting in the Underside Bay. Im not sure if its just RC planes electronics, but every other piece of electronics Ive had fried with Moisture. I also cut back the tape to the 4th hole on Aft side of the Door to let air Circulate. But i don't think ill have any issues with over heating... It was mentioned by some one awhile back on 1 or the 2 tread discussions about getting a touch more Float out of the Pro. So i Sub Trimmed my Flaps down 5mm( Im going too test it anyways and see. LOL i realize i haven't even flown this Bird yet and have done a few things too her. But like any New plane i like testing differeant options.Im sure i could fly it Stock and be happy.... As of now... the WX shows signs of being THE DAY for the Maiden tomorrow... Fingers crossed Boys.... I also decided too replace the Rubber Stops on the Clevis's too some nice Silicone Fuel tubing. They are 10 more time stronger now... Dec 29th Well after almost a month of looking at the Pro ,Weather has been crap. So today i finally got to Fly her. I really like it.maybe not the best for a 1st Plane. But once you get her dialed too how you like it,its a blast too fly. Flaps work great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hebfdJ8kQpM Jan 1st Alright Decided too go over my Elev Push rod again this evening.I already did the sanding a last week, before my Maiden.Man was it ever stiff in the Tube.It took about 4-5 clicks on the Trim button for any kind of movement ..Thats not good.Extra/unnecessary strain on you Servo Well do no good. 1. Wear your servo out. 2.Drain your Battery 3.Crash So i still felt like it was a touch to tight still. I would advise anyone too try and trim your ELEV and watch the movement of your Elevator... You should see movement with 1 click .making trimming your Aircraft Super easy and the way it should be. Here's a few Pics of the Process. Its pretty straight forward.. You can see the amount i moved the Horn in on the Control Surface. The Curve at the end was not helping. Release the Clevis form the horn(take a Mental note of which Hole you have it in).And roughly how many turns it takes too unscrew it off the push rod. Next Unscrew the tiny screw from the Servo arm. Pull the rod out towards the nose until its out of the tubing. Next take some sand paper i used 120 Grit .Use 80 if oyu would like too sand more quicker!! Some elbow grease is needed here. Along with the replacing the thin rubber clevis's on the Flaps and Ailerons Seeing im down in this area i decided too replace them back here as well. I used some standard silicon fuel tubing i had on hand..Works very good and now it really feels secure. Now when you put your Clevis back on, screw it back on to around the same number of turns when it was taking off. I hold the Control surface so its straight and level with the Horizontal stab.you can also use low tach tape. Now power on your TX and plug your Battery into your ESC.. Make sure your Elev trim is in the center. Once the Clevis even with the Horn, install it in the Hole you had it in prior. Now it may not be perfect,so you can unclip your clevis and mark half turns till your Elev is perfect . If you dont want too Undo your clevis again ,you can use the Sub Trim option and fine tuned the Control surface perfectly...Works like a charm... As you can see i was a touch high/up.It took me 10 down too make it nice and level. Now screw your horn back onto your servo I also received my Graupner 10x8 Props the other day.The with of the shoulder is 6mm.and the Stock park-zone props are 8mm .So you are left with a 2mm gap. Some guys have said its fine and some have said fill it. You can use some Teflon washers or something similar. Someone said they use some fuel tubing.. It took me about 20 cuts to get it right. So the Props fall/fold freely but it works... Make sure oyu put/install the Shims on the TE(Trailing Edge) of the prop Haven't flown her with the new Props yet...It says on the prop Max 7000Rpm...I was 50% Thr and was at 5500-6000rpms...i could not give anymore Thr then 50%.Seeing it wanted too lift out of my hand and i was in my kitchen/work shop lol and everything was blowing everywhere:eek: I think this Prop is the best upgrade for this Plane/Power system...

RE: Radian Pro - A new e-glider from Parkzone
ORIGINAL: aeajr
ORIGINAL: RickShane Aeajr: I'm the one that has the JR 6102 radio, and 11 yr ols don. Since I need to buy everything (2 Batteries & charger)  I plan on buying the RTF since I have nothing electric in my fleet of planes. Heck for $20.00 more I get the radio that comes with it. Can I mix with the radio? What functions does that radio have? What radio is it a Dx5e? Oh and how much flight time can you get out of a battery with the motor on the entire flight? Thanks again. I think I am going to pick it up in the next few days. After looking at other gliders like the Dynam Sonic, Sky Hawk, and a few others, my hobby shop carries NO parts for any them. And the good thing about the Radian is I can get all the parts I need at my hobby shop, so that's a BIG plus! I can't wait to get out and fly!!
Let's be clear, as this thread is about the Radian Pro which has ailerons and flaps.   The Radian Pro does not come RTF.   It is not sold with a Radio.  I do not own a Radian Pro, at least not yet. The original Radian is a R/E/motor glider with no ailerons.  It is available with a radio.  The Radian RTF radio is the DX5e. This is a 5 channel standard radio. The only mix is elevon.  There is a dual rate switch but I am not sure what it impacts since I never use it.  I own an original Radian. As for flying a pack with the motor on all the time, I have no idea. I would never do that with the Radian or the Pro, these are gliders.  Using the standard Parkzone 1300 mah pack I would guess about 4 minutes of  full throttle run time, but I have never tried it and would never fly either  Radian this way.  This is a glider.  I measure duration in climbs, not minutes.  On the original Radian ( not thePro)  I get 8-10 climbs/reclimbs per pack.  Typically I get an hour or more out of a pack.  If the lift is good I might fly for 2-3 hours without replacing the pack. If I am on the slope I might fly for 6 hours without replacing the pack. If you want a power on airplane, these are not the planes for you, in my opinion.
I think oyu should get one..your experience has been a assist too the discussions on the Pro,and you don't own one...Were not getting thermals in these parts this time of the year..and with the cold NE Atlantic ocean. Winds are cool here in the summer,it may get max 25C mid summer with a cool breeze 80% of the time from the ocean. As for now its winter,we have no snow...all rain for the past 30+ days ive managed too get 3 flights in the past month [:'(]...I haven't tested the Pro yet in with calm winds. But im not sure how she well soar around with out wind. You still may be able too get 45mins on a 1300 ,with no winds or thermals... Right now im getting around approx a hour flight with 25km/h winds. She shines in the wind. I just have too wait for a calm day to see what i can get. Hopefully the WX does not change for for Thursday Sunny 0C/25km/h Friday 0C, winds 10km/h[:D]

RE: Great Planes Cherokee ARF
yea Moose that what i was thinking on doing...Just not sure how too go about it? cut a hole and patch in the Block of Balsa? .I was just going too cut out some of the Mono and just patch it with that. Prop i used was a APC 10x6. I may get a 11x7 or something in that area after a few more tanks or when i feel the engine has been run-in nicely.

RE: Great Planes Cherokee ARF
hey mooseflyer that's a cool idea.Well i got too maiden mine!!,Well the Clubs CFI did.We didn't have a trainer cord at the time,But he looked over the Plane and checked it all out.Balance was good,i had 3/4oz too the tail too compensate for the 5C 2700Mah RX battery and the 1oz Spinner Nut.He got it Airborne and and it flew amazing ,no trim was needed. He was quite impressed on the flying characteristics of the Cherokee. Im new too the Club and glow planes for that matter,My flying experience is with park fliers, with about 5-6 years under my belt.and only last fall did i decide too get into Glow,so after the initial test flight he landed,Re-fueled and and did some engine tuning(new engine) so we leaned it in 1/2 turn and got airborne and and let me do some Circuit's.LOL what a difference going from Electric too GLOW POWER[:D] Well after me flying for about 5 mins he took back controls and set up for approach came in with 1st notch of flaps,(i have it set-up with 2 notch's, 1st is about 13 degrees and second/Full flaps is around 20 Degress,so he came in just a touch slow and a bit of a bumpy landing. The only damage was the darn front wheel pant Spike came up and poked 2 holes in the bottom of the fuselage.I new i should of taken them off.I read of so many people having that happen. He said it shouldn't of happened and i know he felt bad for it happening but that it,it's was no biggy,I was too excited that i finally got her in the air.I was thinking of maybe mixing some down elevator with the flaps, not much maybe 2-3 degrees too keep her on a nose down attitude when coming in for landing have you experimented with that? Well heres some pics Runway "Grass 30'x300' 1st take off ;0) Me Re-fueling Damage from the Wheel Pant,Which are no longer on the Plane,I was thinking of cutting the Spike off and applying some Mono-coat over the Hole. RE: CORO CUB Build Thread
Thanks Villa I seen that on another post maybe it was at the beginning of this one.... With the Music wire, ok i have a question.. what is Music wire?,would a Metal Cloths hanger work?.I am Planning on building up the fuse in the areas of the engine mount and the landing gear.I also opted not too cut the Windows out,I can Air-brush them in,Im Planning on giving the Fuse the Standard Super-cub Paint Job anyways ....I was thinking too put a firewall behind the 10'' PVC engine mount right up too the top ,underneath the Wing and then another firewall back 12 '' just as the Fuse starts too taper back too the tall.I was thinking either some 1/4''balsa or maybe 2 pieces of Coro Glued together .I have lots of coro and no balsa so id say ill go with the Coro option, trying too keep the cost of this Plane down, beside the radio gear and engine id say the Du-Bro landing gear well be the most expensive thing too buy [;)],and then maybe a I beam down the center in the Cabin area. But then it came on where im going too put the Radio gear and servos. So maybe 3 firewall would stiffin up the Cabin area. This is just brain storming at this stage. And also i have no 2mm Coro and cant get any here up in Canada, and im not Planning on ordering any.I know the top of the Wing calls for 2mm ,but you think i could get away with using 4mm? Im Planing on geting a .52ASP from Hobby King, there like $50 and $30 for Shipping. So i think that well be ample Power I like those Bu-Bros landing gear as-well,May have too look into getting them[:D] heres little pic of what im talking about on stiffing up the fuselage/Cabin area.
ORIGINAL: echolmberg Eastcoast, Thanks for the web site and product info! I just order one of their batteries and paid for shipping for less than half of what it would have cost me to buy a lower capacity battery locally. I am very supportive of my local hobby shop but I just couldn't justify spending aproximately $10 for a lesser battery when for about $4.65 (that's

for a beginner i would suggest something like this,.very durable and you can add flap/ailerons with some Modifications down the road,i started with the original HZ super-cub 5 years ago and i still have it,and have crashed into about everything lol http://secure.hobbyzone.com/HBZ7300.html

RE: GP Piper Cherokee wing question
hmmm yes as of right now i got 10 degrees of flaps for the first setting and just over 20 Degrees for the second,i set it back just enough so the buzzing stops,i don't think you would need anymore then 20 degrees flaps anyways.

I cant wait too finally fly it,form what ive read its very stable!! i got the 46Ax in as well. ira d do you have the Flaps installed? One of my flap servos makes a noise when i get the travel rate any higher then 60% if i remember correctly, but i cant seem too find the reason, its not binding on anything!!!
