RE: Cheap video downlinks
I never asked for hours of customer service. I asked for a product that works. I have purchased aerial systems from other vendors and have been very happy. Jetpiolt, get the whole story before you make accusations.

RE: Cheap video downlinks
If it goes in a plane, and then has problems, I understand the OEM product was not intended to be put in an RC plane and I have to deal with the issues myself. It is good and nice to get support from the distributor, but not required IMO.
Then these videos systems shouldn't be sold as aerial video systems.

I bought a system from Tinywireless in 2004 and I'm still waiting for him to reply to my emails about the system NOT working. Here is a link to look at: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2088790/anchors_2184041/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#2184041

RE: Today's Aiptek 1.3 aerial pic's
loops, I did have some pictures at one time but I don't know what I did with them. When I get a chance I will take some new ones. The way I mounted mine was to take a piece of aluminum and bend it to a L. Then I mounted it to the side of the plane with the camera mounted to the top of the L. The biggest problem you are going to have is vibration. Try to mount the bracket on some rubber washers to elimate some of the vibration. If you search RCU for AIPTEK, you will find a lot of different ways to mount the camera and some good info on how to trigger the camera. I took my camera apart and soldered wires across the trigger button, then I used this [link=http://www.dimensionengineering.com/PicoSwitch.htm]switch[/link] to trigger the camera via the radio. Hope this helps.

RE: Can anyone recommend an aerial video setup?
If your looking for something cheap you could try the Aiptek 1.3 SD camera found [link=http://www.aiptek.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=R-PCSD13&Category_Code=PC1&Store_Code=AS]here[/link] The frame rate is pretty low for video so the movie will be choppy. If you want to take still shots the camera does a pretty good job. If you want to see some still shots I took with this camera go [link=http://gocc3.glenoaks.edu/aug0606/]here[/link]

RE: Today's Aiptek 1.3 aerial pic's
ORIGINAL: bt98 Great Pictures. Wonder what your setup is other than the Aiptek camera?
I have the camera mounted on the left side of a Kadet Senior. I soldered a wired across the trigger button on the Aiptek 1.3 camera and I trigger the camera with a relay attached to a spare channel on my radio.

RE: Mounting 4*60 on floats
ORIGINAL: DaveJohansen Anybody have any pics handy to show how they mounted floats under their 4*60. I would like to be able to switch back and forth from floats to wheels without alot of hassle. Thanks
Dave, I don't have any pictures but what I did was bolt the front bracket of the floats to where the landing gears bolts on the aircraft, and then I bolted the rear bracket of the floats to the wing hold down bolts. When you remove the wing bolts you will have enough space to lift the floats and remove the wing. Hope this helps. Ed

RE: I found 2 types of mini onboard inlne no drop out recorders
I just installed the Neuro MP4 recorder in my Kadet Senior and it works pretty good. The Neuro recorder does have AV inputs and outputs so there is no problem hooking up your camera to this device. There are two versions of the Neuro recorder. The Neuro 2 version will record up to 640X480 resolution and the one with your link has a smaller resolution.

RE: Left My raptor in the rain.
I dumped my float plane many of times in the water and just dried out the radio with a hair blower. Just make sure you do a range check on your radio and you should be OK.

Adrian, Try wrapping the camera in some type of foam rubber. Vibration is a BIG problem when it comes to these types of cameras.

The Tower 46 is NOT one of the better engines. I have two of them and one runs good and the other is useless. If you do a search here on RC Universe, you will find a lot of information on the Tower 46.
