RE: TF P 51 1/5 scale kit built
Very nicely done model. What are you using for power, what brand muffler and how much does the plane weigh? Thanks, Ed

RE: Wanted Jet Mach 60
Bob: Might try sending Bob Leserve at Laser-Design-Services.com an e-mail and see if he has one or knows someone who has one available. Some have criticized the Jet Mach (ugly, no retracts, too simple, etc.) but I have a Jet Mach 60 and I really like it. It flies very well for someone that is new to turbines (not jets or RC flying). I find it very forgiving and it is exactly what I wanted in an entry level turbine trainer. I am sure other models fly very well but I am hapy with mine. Ed
ORIGINAL: stuntflyr  Thanks Ed, couldn't get that page to load before. Chris...
Chris: Try this. Go to www.escomposites.com Select products, then CF pipes, then glow, then 2 cycle. I believe that the pipe you want is the ES2C60. The last two numbers are the engine size (i.e. 46 for .46, 60 for .60, 120 for the OS 120AX, etc.) On thing I have noticed is that if I try to click on the link as shown on the RCU post, the server times out and you get message that "This page can not be displayed". The easiest thing to do is to just type in the link on your browser. Ed Update: Chris, after making the post, I clicked on the link displayed in the post and all worked well.

RE: Byron F-16 Turbine Conversion
Trev: Mig has been on the back burner for a while. I have been and EDF guy for a while and recently bought a used turbine so I have been working to finish the plane. Additionally, I got the Mig as a test bed for a new 6" fan (direct replacement for the Byron's) that a friend of mine is working on. The fan is also on the back burner while his work takes him away from the project and we find a company that can produce it for him. Here are a few photos of my turbine trainer. Also, I have finished a nitro planes Falcon 120 EDF with my own conversion Dynamax fan and Scorpion motor and am working on an AMD Hawk for Turbax fan. Will get back to the Mig later this year. However, I have to decide if I want to repair my 120"span A-10 or work on the Mig. [:)] Ed

RE: New ARSON 153mm EDF For Byron jets
Joe: I think this is a wonderful idea. I am interested in your projected power with various motors mentioned above. It appears as though the initial testing with the motors mentioned above is yet to be performed. Is this correct? If so, when do you think you might have some test results? Do you plan to share the data on this thread? The kinds of things I think many are interested in are: 1. Power out on 12 and 14 S with each/or some of the motors above. 2. Amps/current draw with these motors on the 12 and 14S configuration 3. Efflx velocity for given tail pipe exhasut diamaters for the motors tested 4. Weight for fan with 6, 9 and 18 blades 5. Projected price for the fan assembly Thanks for the effort and looking forward to the test results. Ed

Who is Kitting/Producing the SL-1
After reading the posts from Kruzer regarding identification of an unknow pattern plane and finally identifying it as a Geoff Combs SL-1, I was wondering if anyone is offering this plane is some sort of kit/short kit form? I had one about 6 or 8 years ago and loved it. Unfortunately I lost mine due to dumb thumbs. I would build another if I could find one Ed

RE: Pattern Planes in Mothballs
Kruzer: I believe that it is an SL-1. I have attached a few photos of the one I built about 6 years ago. You need to build it. I had a YS 120 in it and it was (still feel that it is) the best flying pattern plane I ever had. If you look at the photos of mine you can just make out the fillets for the stab (like your fuse) and if you check the chin cowl they look very much the same. Incidentally, I installed incidence adjusters in both the wing and stab. Wonderful plane. I wish someone was offering them as I would build another in a heartbeat. Ed

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet
Aussie1: Thanks for the file. I opened it and the guy really did a wonderful job. Gave me some ideas for my next Falcon. On a related note, I need to see if anyone can help me. I have been flying one of the Nitro Plane Falcon 120's as a Dynamax powered edf. This past weekend I had a midair with a small electric plane. The wings, tail and booms are damaged but repairable however, the fuse is a write off. I need to see if anyone has a new or used Falcon 120 fuse (don't care about color) that they are willing to sell. I will take a used/damaged fuse as long as it is repairable. I have posted in the classified but it was suggested that I also post here. Thanks, Ed

RE: K&B 1.00 DF vs OS 91VR-DF
I have run the OS 77 and 91, K&B 82 and the K&B 100. The OS was superior to both the K&B's. As stated previously, more reliable idle but most of all, better transition. I ran the OS91 in an old Balsa USA Delta with a pipe and prop.I ran a 12x8 cut to 11x8 and it ran very well. The ducted fan pipe will work well but you just need to find the right prop to get the engine in the correct rpm range (need to be in the high teens or low 20K range). If the K&B 100 in NIB and has never been run, then you need to take the engine apart and ensure there are no metal shavings inside. One of the problems we encountered with the 100's was a lack of quality control and some had metal shavings inside. The other thing that was a problem with the 82 and100's was that the carb was not quite right. The carb would not let the engine transition quite right. My solution was to take an OS91 DF carb and install it into the K&B 100. If you are working on the K&B 82 then use the OS 65 or 77 DF carb. The barrel on the OS is metric and the K&B obviously is not. The OS carb is just slightly undersize for the K&B. My solution was to take an aluminum Coke can and cut a small strip (the width of the barrel) and long enough to make one wrap around the barrel. I cut the can, wrapped the aluminum around it (only one revolution).I applied a little silicone to the aluminum and the barrel of the carb and then installed the entire assembly into the back of the K&B. Then tighten the pinch bolt and you are finished. This combo served me very well. In fact, I still have 6 of the OS 91's, three OS 77's one KBV 82 and a K&B 82 if anyone is interested in one. Ed

RE: ANYONE GOT A NICE TEST RIG AND SOFTWARE TO TEST SOME NEW EDF'S?
Wayne: Can you be a little more specific as to what you are looking for in terms of data collection. I have an Eagle Tree system and a couple of small test benches for 127mm and below. A larger test banch could be fabricated. I also have access to a friend that has a lot of fluid dynamics background and full scale turbine design background. You can send me a PM or e-mail. E-mail preferred. edwarda10pilot@aol.com I also have some plans for some large jets that were originally designed around a 7.5" fan that never materialized. One of the jets is a 115" span A-10, an 85" long F-16 2 seater and an 85" span F-9F Panther. These planes could probably benefit from teh larger fan. Ed
