Which Futaba 2.4 Receiver to use?
I have a 12 year old 71" Wingspan, Ziroli P-47 War Bird with a Gas Zenoah 3.8 Engine. I have been flying it with a Futaba 72 System on Channel 22, Futaba FP-R129DP Dual Conversion PCM Receiver. It has worked great for years and maybe the KISS System should apply. I am thinking about converting it to 2.4 so I will be using the same Transmitter for all my aircraft. The P-47 is the last plane that I have on 72. I have three Futaba Receivers that I can use. I do not need the high speed function with digital servos for this aircraft. I just want a reliable system. All three receivers have been well tested in other aircraft that I fly. Futaba R617FS, Futaba R6008HS or Futaba 6014HS Thanks, Ed

RE: Zenoah G-38 Prop Hub/Flywheel Problem
Brian, it has not been in a crash. If I try to push the shaft straight in, I do not get any play. If I push on the top and bottom of the flywheel (plug to 180 opposite = 6 & 12 o'clock position) it rocks slightly. If I push flywheel at 3 & 6 o'clock position, I can not feel any movement.

Zenoah G-38 Prop Hub/Flywheel Problem
I have an older Zenoah G-38 that starts great, and runs like a top from idle to full throttle. I have just noticed some movement (play) of the prop hub/flywheel. I can hear a clicking noise as I apply pressure to the hub. It at appears that the flywheel is shifting as the pressure is applied? I honestly do not know if this is something that has been there very long or not? Also, I do not know if the movement in the Flywheel is the Flywheel moving or shaft/bearing play that is causing the movement? When the motor is running, the flywheel seems to be running true without any wobble. Do I have a problem? Should I continue to fly this engine? Thanks

G-38 Fuel Draw Problem
I have a G-38 that has been running great all year long. All of a sudden it will not draw fuel when you choke it, even with the hole covered up on the choke plate. I rebuilt the carb and that did not help. Next, I replace the old carb & associiated gaskets with a new Walbro Carb. No change with the new carb. I checked my tank, new lines, then even tried another tank with new lines. Still not fuel draw at choke. Finally, have sprayed the ouside of the engine with soapy water to look for air leaks. Could not find any leaks. Just about ready to box up and send to Horizon for service. Any ideas?

RE: JACK STAFFORD Models Aircoupe's
Sorry to hear about your accident. I am confident that you will get on the right track shortly. Keep flying. It sounds like a broken record, but still have my Aircoupe ready to glass and paint. How many years has it been Anthony? To many for sure. I have just been flying other aircraft, but hope to get it finished this fall. I have it set up for an OS 46 2 Stroke Glow. I really wanted to use a 4-stroke, but did not feel I wanted to purchase a new motor. I have been flying mostly electric 3-D aircraft for the last two years and might even make this electric. Ed

RE: DLE 30 vs PTE 36R
No reason that I can come up to why I picked only those two. I guess just trying to make it simple. I will consider the OS, but have not researched how this engine runs. How do you like your OS? Is it worth the extra money?

DLE 30 vs PTE 36R
I am looking for a gas engine to go on an 80" Extra 260 that has a flying weight of 14 pounds. Up to this point I have run it with a Moki 180 Glow with 18x8 prop. I am interested in going to gas on this airplane. The two motors I am interested in are the DLE30 and the PTE36R. Any comments or experience with these two motors on which one to purchase?

RG, I have considered the 9202 and might end up purchasing them. I have a friend that flies 60 size helicopters with the 9202's and really likes them. He says he has about 1,000 flights on the heli and they are still very good.

I feel that I will benefit from the modern servos of today. I have good, coreless servos in the aircraft, but they are starting to not center as well as they did and also some deadband is appearing.

Help on What Futaba Servos to Buy
I have a 60's pattern ship (91 4 stroke, 8 pound aircraft) that has some older servos that need to be replaced. I have been running Futaba Coreless Servos in it for the most part. Looking for a single coreless servo for elevator & rudder. They can be digital or not? What would you recommend. If you feel the JR would be a better choice, then that would work as well. Thanks

Thanks for all the support on my 91 starting problems. I went through the engine last night and covered all the bases that you guys listed. Put it back together this morning. Fired it up and it runs great. Not exactly sure what the problem was since I checked all the areas before firing up.

Don Tank and clunk looks good, but will replace all fuel tubing. Will take your suggestion and clean out parts where the needle valve and idle screw are located.

RE: OS 91SII starting Problem
Using electric started to spin motor. I have opened up the needle value, but no difference. I flew this plane about one month ago. I usually do not have to change needle valve more than two or three time a year and that might only be a click or two. This motor has been that solid. I pulled motor and took at look at o rings and made sure bolts were tight and they were. I agree it seems like it is lean, but only prime fuel would make it seem that way. Pulling tank and taking another look. It is something I am overlooking You would think that the spinning of the prop with the electric started would draw fuel up. That being said, I am not sure it is. Thanks for the information

OS 91SII starting Problem
I have an OS 91SII 4 stroke engine. The engine or tank has not been changed since the last flight. It has always started very easy and zero problems with it. Same fuel, changed glow plug, but no difference, checked gap on valves and they are fine. Problem: Remove the fuel line and fuel flows through the line as it should. If you choke it and get fuel into the carb, then it fires and quickly runs the prime through and stops. Without choking, it is more difficult to fire. While it is running on the prime, if I advance the throttle, just slows down and quits. It just seems like a fuel flow problem, but can not find the problem. Any ideas or help?

I am looking to purchase two Futaba 2.4 Receivers. I am looking at the following models. Not looking at price, it one a better choice (more reliable) than the other? Thanks, Ed R617FS 7-Channel 2.4GHz FASST Receiver High sensitivity receiver weighs only .25oz (7g) without case - yet is a full-range system for all aircraft - from giant scale to park flyer applications -no need to buy separate receivers for specific aircraft Simple one-touch binding - no plugs to mess with or lose Dual Antenna Diversity allows 2.4GHz FASST Futaba receiver to select the best reception between its two antennas with no signal loss Rubber grommets installed where antennas exit to eliminate stress and fraying of the two antenna wires Futaba R6008HS 8-Channel Receiver Offers 2048 resolution plus FASST benefits including Dual Antenna Diversity and significantly reduced latency for lightning-quick response High-speed operation takes advantage of digital servos’ ability to update more rapidly than analog servos (both can be used with this receiver) HS (High Speed) mode improves frame rate on channels 1-6 to only 7 milliseconds — compared to 14 milliseconds at normal mode.*

Frank, great looking warbirds. I have a couple questions about your P-47. I have been flying with the CG in the middle of the range on the plans. It has flown well at this point, but wondered where your CG is located? I have 20 and 40 degrees of flaps. I have only landed it with 20 degrees. Have you used the 40 degrees of flaps. Ed
