RE: Finally got to do some jumping! pic's of the day
Looking good and scale. I haven't left a good plane in a while but plan on getting back to it when the river goes down. My feild is in the Bonnet Carre Spillway and the river has about 12 feet of water on the runway now!! Nice pics. Spillway Skydive Team LaPlace, La.

RE: Great Planes Giant Ugly Stick
Thanks for the reply I need to order up I guess. WOW DLE 55 on a 1.20 sized plane. One of the flying buddies is building the AMR monster stick right now and I was looking at the AMR 30 stick but realized the Great planes is the same size and is ARF. I gues prop clearance is not an issue either with the 55 turning an bigger prop.

RE: Great Planes Giant Ugly Stick
Am I reading this correctly? Is that the great planes Giant stick (1.20 size) with a DLE 55! I was specing one of these out for a DLE30 but saw that added weight was needed for CG and I might as well put the weight in the engine. The firewall can accpt the DLE55 though? Were you able to put the gas tank on CG still and have room to put all the batteries ( RX and IGN) for a balance. Where did your battery end up with that 55cc? I normally use a 4200 MAH sub C for the RX and a 2000 for the IGN. Just want to make sure I will have the room for these without having to make too many mods to the ARF.

RE: Anyone give me some info on RC Skydiving?
Yes you are correct. The divers have there own radio and pilot. Far the learning part the hardest thing to master is packing and caring for the chute. After the chute opens anybody can fly one home. They really get expensive when You have to own the jump plane and the divers and then you have to let someone else fly the jump plane. I use the ugly sticks for jump/utility planes. I also have the internals of two DX6i modded for both of the sticks to be fully up at neutral that way it just like the divers arms. It is fun and NEW at just about any feild you take it to and you will have people that normally fly 40 and 50% #d ships that will be amazed how you can Skydive. If you have any other questions feel free to get on here and ask. I have three divers SPUD- a rcskydiving ultimate diver weighs three pounds ready to jump MJ- am micro jumper and TBoy anothert micro the micro usually ride together on the plane with two jump pilots in control.

RE: Horizon Hobbies Spectrum DX6I Malfunction that destroyed my aircraft
Sounds like you had a power drop below the needed voltage on the reciever battery. 2.4 takes more power to stay bound than 72mhz. A lot of old pilots that just change the recievers and not the battery have the same issues. What tells me the battery was pulled down to far is that the first plane went to full throttle, this is the failsafe if the throtte servo was reversed and then not rebound. In other words you have to re bind the reciever after you setup the radio and put all the sticks in neutral position that way when the reciever looses bind it will kill the throttle. I have been flying 2.4 since the DX7 hit the market and now have the 9303 and I use 6 VOLT batterys even in the little planes. I learned this the hard way but this is exactly what gives the 2.4 systems bad reps at the feilds. I think the minium voltage is 4.5 but you can look it up to verify that is why I start with 6.

RE: Twist 3D 60 ARF
So you have the carb actually on the inside of the firewall? I wan't thinking about that but that would save plenty nose weight by having the motor in closer. Thanks for the pics. I wish I would have bought the 20 now, but anyway I picked the twist 60 after I picked the motor I just wanted a test bed for the smallest gasser. I may have to put it in a 40 sized plane later.

Cool I was looking on here for the firewall demensions to see if the 15cc would fit before I order the plane (I got the little motor in today I was going to get the 20 for the same price but I was trying to save some weight) but I see you have the 20cc mounted. I will order the plane now if the 20 fits the 15 should too can you post some pictures or mail them to me direct. I too will be waiting on the maiden report. You said it ballanced well where did you have to put the batterieS. Send me some pics direct email if you want. kkeating@bellsouth.net

RE: Drop box - new at this, requesting input.
I dont see lift being a problem the panes fly the same with just the boxes add the diver and you have a totally different flying plane due to the payload weight. Anyway the concerns I have are the ground clearance you may want to think about larger wheels and taller gear. All of my drop planes look like those Cubs that land in the mountains with the extra large wheels. Remember an inch taller wheel only gives 1/2 ich more height. Another concern is the bo is boxed on all four sides all of mine are three sided with the back open this is to allow the divers legs to hang out the box, and with the diver's legs hanging out the back you need more ground clearance. If you are flying from a grass strip you can get away with the diver rubbing the grass as long as it doesn't slow the plane down because you will deffinately need the speed to get it off and also more runway. that is part of the fun is loading the plane and watching the pilot struggle with the take offs I have had some close calls with my diver underneath! Anyway enough for now I hope this helped. Kenny K from Spillway Skydive Team.

RE: Newbie with questions??
Sounds like you pretty much have it figured out with the turning a forward. For the sticks I use rubber bands for the springs but modify the inside of the transmitters to hold the stick up just like the divers arms the left stick is the left arm and so on. Modifing the inside the transmitter makes it look more like it was made for that purpose. I get funny looks when I pull out the DX6i with both stick stuck up...

RE: What drop plane do you use?
I use the stick series and add taller landing gear and bigger wheels. For my ultimate 3lb diver I use the Hangar9 Ultra stick with a worn out well broken in O.S .91 two stroke, I have the exhaust piped to the back so the diver and the plane stay clean. For dropping two micro divers I use the E-flite Ultra Stick 25e with 4 inch tall wheels to get extra ground clearance. The 25e is powered with the Power 32 motor and a 4cell lipo. I do pick up a free ride in the giant stinger sometimes too it has a G62 and doesn't feel the diver underneath. For radio gear I am JR or Spektrum all the way. Each drop plane has two recievers ( one AR7000 and one AR6100), one to fly the plane and another that is binded to the divers radio so the diver can let himself out. The divers have each there own reciever an AR6100 (park fly range), I use a AR6100 in the plane for the drop that way if the plane flies out of the park fly reciever range then the drop box will not drop the diver that would also be out of range. I don't have any pictures uploaded yet.

RE: Joining the ranks
Myself and Dave from rc skydiving have used an Eflite mini ultra stick to haul TWO of the micro divers I don't think you will have any problems with the 40 sized nitro plane. Just get used to it flying a little different, it will take a little more runway and may not turn in the air as good. I normally mix in some rudder with the ailerons on my jump planes. have fun and don't forget to connect the battery in the diver before you drop him out the plane : P Kenny from Spillway Skydive Team

RE: how many servos for RCSkydiving
The Rc Skydiving micro only uses TWO servos in the diver thats all that will fit in there you will see. The micro drop box can use any servo I use the HS-55 with tape to the side of the box. To freefall the diver uses the same servo in it to pull the chute. You will see this will be easy for you when you get it in and look at it. Have fun and happy falling. I have two micros and one ultimate from RCSkydiving.com (check out the little orange guy on his website that is one of mine, MJ is his name LOL) all togehter for the Diver to have full drop and freefall from the diver TX I use TWO recievers, one in the diver of coarse and one binded to the same model (Spektrum) in the plane for the drop box, and THREE servos Two in the diver and one on the Box.

RE: Novice Jumper with a Couple Questions
Well I used to have about 3 out 5 drops with a half opened chute. I thought it was my folding then thought is was the way the plane was heading with consideration of wind direction, then I thought it was sticking so I dusted it with talcum powder. I was then taught that the chute should be laid in the sun for at least a half hour before packing it and only pack it just before jumping.....Well that was the key. I hadn't realized that the nylon holds a memory and I could even notice a difference by picking the diver up by the feet and hanging the chute. When it just comes out the case it stays folded in half like it is stored, let it sit spread out for a while and when you pick it up and hang it upside down it is almost fully open with no air moving ! As far the powder I don't think that would hurt it and fact just some slight dusting could keep it dry and slick from sticking.....Happy Falling from Spillway Skydive Team located in LaPlace, La.

RE: of my fellow skydiversskydiver pictures
The biggest problem I have is finding four pilots that can fly like that together. I know my two jump pilots could but I still need two more............cool effect though. The funest game we have found to play now is to see if the plane can safely land[:D] before the diver when jumping from not too high. This sounds easy for the plane but if you leave the plane over the runway and freefall a little most of the time both are landing at the same time! I had to abort with the diver to stop from passing in front of the plane. I just thought I would throw this out there to see what kinda of games or competetions you all do when its a day of jumpiin.

RE: of my fellow skydiversskydiver pictures
Well it only weighs ten onces ready to jump so it doesn't like wind. I am going to say no more than 5-7MPH and that may be pushing it. I did jump it at a feild that had trees on both sides (you have to dive in to land the planes but you can fly over them) so I couldn't feel the wind on the ground and I had to keep it facing into the wind to keep from losing ground when I flared both risers it actually flew backwards!

Here or some pics of my micro skydiver from RCSkydiving.com looking for a good landing. This diver weighs in at only 9.8 ounces and is 9 inches tall. because of its small size it doesn't need much of a plane to bring it up. I use the E-Flite Mini Ultra Stick with the 480 motor and the plane doesn't even feel it. RE: 4 stroke vs 2 stroke in carrying up jumpers
It depends on the plane. I prefer electric but that gets real expensive when the plane gets big. The reason why I prefer electric is that it is cleaner, if you use nitro oreven gas you have to worry about the divers getting soaked with oil from the exhaust. I use the Sr Telemaster with a worn out (but it was cheeep) OS 91 FX but I only haul one as of now (3lbs). I did however run the exhaust tube to back of the plane under the elevator to keep the diver clean and this works well with now effect to the engine other than a cool sound. Two or Four....I rather two for weight issues but there or some people that say Four for the extra torque.....I know I didn't answer your question but I think its your preference, it really doesn't matter. I would overpower the plane though just for insurance.

Meet SPUD (Stuck Parachute Unfortunate Dirtdive). SPUD is an ultimate skydiver form RCSkydiving.com. These pictures were taken in the Bonte Carre Spillway located in Norco, Louisiana down south in the swamp! In fact SPUD lived up to his name the jump just before this one when the chute pin hung up he plunged down into the soft mud and grass and survived. I read all 42 pages of this forum and throughout I changed my motor idea a few times I think I will go with the O.S 1.60 though. 6v battery ds821's all around except on rudder that will be 5645 all on Spektrum AR7000.

Next Time out I will try to get somebody to take some pics. I have made it past the maiden drop and have 5 in the books now. I don't allow any cameras around any of my planes until I have flown them. A camera is bad luck for maiden flights to me (just something I tell at the feild). In case you are wondering I am in Louisiana and fly at www.spillwayrc.com . Where will we be able to see these pictures? As far as them being from a rally that would be impossible from me for I am the only diver I know of in three clubs around here however I am trying to promote it.

RE: Mini Ultra Stick Convert
I had a OS 15 CVA on mine. It flew but it was to heavy for its size I think it is just as fast on elctrics with a 450 never tried the 480. Mine is now on electric and I can do more with it. The weight of the lio and motor is about the same as the .15 but don't forget you have to add a reciever battery I had mine glued in over the vent hole in the back for CG. It is more fun of plane now on electric I think. I found your forum by looking for a MUS on floats that is my project now.
