ORIGINAL: Props4ever My research is not wrong...
Simply incomplete. We should not allow conclusions about someone's project based on opinion. I'm sure wireless internet access will change the face of competitions in the future. (Google 'wiki fokker 60' and you'll find that Fokker) As the MAAC rules stand now (not absolutely sure since it was over a year ago) the competitor has to bring documentation and that documentation needs no bona fides.

Brad and I are not oblidged in any way to make parts, develope drawings, or anything else for you. It's only unuseable to you because you don't know how to go about it. Your project is not our priority. Brad and I have spent the past 1 1/2 years designing these parts. I think maybe you should make your own fin drawings. Ours certainly will not be good enough.
Hey Mike, I didn't wanted to do it this way but it looks like along building Arrows you have forgotten few things my friend. Initially you wanted to charge me $30 bucks to cut that fin core for me and i had agreed to that price. Remember!!.. This is what you stated on RCC about it:
08-28-2009, 02:21 AM #219 Mike Emilio Senior Member RCC Member Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: Toronto, Ontario Posts: 1,367 Re: Resurrect Arrow 1/8 scale Getting ready to cut 3 new fins. One for Brad, one for Sammy's DF version, and one back-up. His DF version might still be usefull if he gets it together. We're fighting an impossible clock, so any option is a good option.
So according to your own RCC post, there is NO TALK about you having a core cut for yourself, but you did mentioned a spare one. It wasen't meant that you just gave it to me FREE without any reason behind it!!.. Here is that reason why you decided to give it to me free of charge!. You made an error on RCC explaining how my Connie's fuselage parts were glued together and i corrected you on this site through PMs. Here is my pm's copy to you with correction:
From: Props4ever To: Mike Emilio Date: 9/13/2009 8:28 PM Subject: RE: Arrow fin core Mike we never used 3M spray adhesive to join any of the foam parts on my Constellation!, it was only used on attaching paper templates to wood board to make wooden templates to cut the foam. All foam parts were joined by contact cement with dabs of epoxy in between on 4 corners to hold it together in case contact cement dries out before glassing the foam....
Here is when on RCC you accepted your error and then offered that fin core to me for FREE:

Old 09-13-2009, 05:48 PM #242 Mike Emilio Senior Member RCC Member Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: Toronto, Ontario Posts: 1,367 Default Re: Resurrect Arrow 1/8 scale Quote: Originally Posted by moo View Post Hotwire the skin off, 3M77, weight think that might work? 3M keeps the plastic trim on our cars for decades, look up 3M VHB tapes. For 2 reasons? 1- Fin is warped itself.. 2- Right side of the outer crutch wall has inwards depression cut into it and therefore i can't lay fin flat anymore on the working table. When i place flat board on it, it warps to the left due to 1/4'' gap between table and crutch... I rather pay you $30 to cut me newer fin as it was originally intended. anyhow get back to me soon.
Now you are simply saying that i wanted one fin core so you simply gave me the burned test fin which is not TRUE AT ALL. Plus that you already knew it was no good for anything and you yourself won't use it, so why did you even gave it to me knowingly!. Recently on 12 Dec 2009 i again offered you $30 to cut another fin as per your original asking price and that is when you said in PM below that you would do drawing for built-up fin for yourself and i can get copy of it to do my fin also. Why because you said foam core fins are very heavy as Brad's fin turned out at 1lbs once completely sheeted and this fin is useless!.. Hmm go figure!!! Your reply Pm regarding making drawing for wood fin:
From: Mike Emilio To: Props4ever Date: 12/13/2009 5:40 PM Subject: RE: Need newer Arrow fin core That was a test fin core. We couldn't use it either because the heat wasn't right and the wire burned in too much. If you recall, there were a few fin cores on the work table. Up in Sault Saint Marie right now. There's a huge CL 415 in the shop here as well. When I get back I'm going to draw up a fin for wood constructin.
I made that post on RCSB after your above PM and our phone conversation!. Had you not mentioned anything about making a drawing for your Arrow's fin with built-up construction and giving me a drawing's copy, how would i had just come up with my statement on RCSB just like that, think about it for a second Mike!!, i still would have had been still asking you to cut another core for me to this date, plus would have offered to help you for cutting the fin core for me and $30 bucks!. Here is my post on RCSB about making wooden ribs out of this fin core, so you can't say i didn't thougt of this method also!!
Posted: 16/December/2009 at 12:09pm Last night before leaving home i looked at the option to make my balsa ribs by slicing this fin in 3'' sections from root to tip in order to make tracings on the balsa sheeting to be cut as ribs but as it turned out that tip section is way off from true airfoil shape!. Now it's hard to figure out where shape went off and at what part of the fin as there is burning also on the right side of the core....
I had already looked into cutting it up at 2''-3'' section from root to tip on RCSB!, but since its too much burned and burn have damaged the airfoil on one side. I thought about trying to fill that area with filler and then slicing it to make wood ribs, but again why would i want to put all this work into something i know was no good to USE when you already had offered drawing for built-up fin to me!.. As a matter of fact we again discussed this few days ago in between Christmas holidays when you asked me to take it easy as you will do drawing at your pace and give copy to me. Then I decided to move on to my S Connie as i knew it will take more time (few months) since ur going back to work related trip after new year's holidays as per our last PM on here . Brad's last post on RCC after the Incident: (It proves what i said about his accident above^.)
maddog Senior Member RCC Member maddog's Avatar Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Forest, Ont. Canada Posts: 428 Default Re: Resurrect Arrow 1/8 scale Well , I guess is would be the last post for getting an Arrow into the sky for the ''100 yrs of flight in Canada''. The last few days some new and some old friends all pull together and help me to give it the only shot we had at it. The last few days we were able to build a pipe, balance, flight check, etc etc. Ed and Steve Prang came today with their gear and help to get the jetcat 160se running but after 2 hours the turbine would not switch over to propane and keep running before they had to leave. (this would be about 2:30). Time out for a coffee and a call to Ted Anton had me thinking and rechecking my ecu and said what the hell I'll try it . At 3:30 we got the turbine running ! Off to the field with less then a hour of day light left. At the field we fuel and radio check, at about 4:30 I pointed the arrow into the wind cross my fingers and said , ''this is the only shot left, this is it Baby!'' I punch the throttle all the way and she started to roll, half way down the run-way the nose started to lift! suddenly the left main gear dug into the ground swinging to arrow hard left , the right wing came up and over onto her back she went . I kill the throttle along with my hope's of flying the arrow for the ''100 yrs of flight'' ( which is why I build it) were done. The damage to the Arrow is mainly to the rudder and nose cone and could easily be repair, the fuse and wings seem to have no or little damage as the pic's show . I am glad I took over this project as I learn a few thing's and met some really cool people, thanks to all who help! Maybe I will try her in the spring. Hey how hard can it be! Brad ''Maddog'' Metcalf may add some more pic's later when I get them.
AGAIN!, you took it wrong Mike about what i said regarding Brad's model, his yesterday's Arrow's incident has nothing to do with my or your model period and you know it also!. All i said ''why to rush and do thing's when they doesn't want to work themselves'' ie: His engine not running properly for 2hrs at home (Probably) and had to call another fellow (Ted Anton) to assist him with getting engine running before he went to the field to do his maiden flight which didn't go as planned as Brad was under pressure to do maiden flight before the end of Dec 31 2009's day light hours to atleast have his Arrow flown in year 2009!. He just wanted to get an Arrow into the sky for the ''100 yrs of flight in Canada'' Now you tell me where i am wrong on making RCSB statements and waiting for the drawing to do built-up fin for my Arrow when you have forgotten the actual facts how i got this dead fin core from you!. I never used your name in any of my posts on RCSB, you took this upon urself and created these baseless posts after the fact we have exchanged PMs and have talked about you making drawings for built-up fin!. I'm patiently waiting for you to do your drawings so i can have a copy since you have accepted in above posts that fin core you gave me is no good and un-usable!. Sam
RE: Palmer 132
ORIGINAL: Props4ever This is what i mean when i stated above that both forward top and bottom spars are glued to sheeting but not any former!, except for lower spar as it merely touches the former... i do see that i can make newer stabilizer and mount it on positive +2 degrees incidence vs presently -2 degrees...so yeah some benefit did come out of it....but I'm not even sure how i can get the stabilizer out of the fuselage itself with out taking off the fin at this point!, now this is another thing i have to fix on this model that i didn't have to!
Will it be easier to remove if most of the spars aren't attached? Perhaps your c130 stab would not have broken if it had a proper attachment point on the spar. (I'm assuming the arrow didn't break as you didn't mention it) Did you miss this in your initial inspection? It's always exciting to get a 'new' used aircraft, but I've learned my lesson by buying other peoples problems too often. (I've got a Hots with no wing spar, it was given to me when I bought some other plane) At least you got it for a good price and you enjoy repairing models, and time to start locking the door. You are making good progress on this, interesting reading. Eric.
