RE: My muggy!
Well ran it today, put about 11 minutes on the lipo, it was in storage mode and didnt not have all the power. Conditions were soggy and cold, -4 but it was wet outside, slide around a lot but the taped badlands did well, they didnt balloon at all! Here are some pictures, deciding whether or not i should post the video of the run.. ugh, it was clean.. RE: My muggy!
More progress, custom esc mount is fabbed, not keen on the hight of esc, still lower then the shock towers and the body mounts so its alright guess, and I hate Using zipties to fasten everything together, but for know it'll do. Might need to run some more wire leads, as there little short. Shouldn't be a problem splicing another 2 inches into them..

Well the 4 counters sunk screw holes you see in picture 4 (first post) mount to a beefy plate which mounts into the original engine mounting location which uses an hefty screw with double nuts. The mounts secure haha..

RE: My muggy!
Forgot to update this thread haha, well nitro is almost all gone, and the truck is waiting for the Rc-monster muggy mount.. It was a 2100kv losi motor and a MMM waiting for the mount. heres a custom battery mount i fabbed up.. No one eh? Anywhoo, progress of today. Thats pretty much it for today. Im going to work on one more strap, that will run lenght wise to keep it nice and study. Even with those too, it takes quiet a bit to push the pack around. I smoothed off every edge so no worries about that. I'm pretty happy with the results as i only had a drill press and dremal available to me, and it turned out well considering.

Check your brake linkages? I have mine so that under full throttle, there is no brakes applied, but as the throttle linkages return to neutral some brake is applied, A drag brake of the sorts. Does your engine get up to full revvs?

30" CAT, custom!
I have a cottage and the idea of a rc boat has always been a great idea for me... When I was a kid, I would shape styro-foam into a dual hull air powered boat to run around the shore, which was quite fun. I've been looking at boats online, and have been considering either a V hull or a Cat. I have also been playing around with the idea of building my own Cat. I found the plans online for it and built it in paper, although I need to upscale it 288% its original (to achieve the 30 span) I will make a mock up tomorrow in card board to see if it’s do-able. In terms of power plants, I like the idea of dual brushless, or jet drives, although I don’t want to be spending 300+ per system, so if I go dual it will be a 6s esc with a lower kv system, although those details will be worked out when the hull is completed/bought. I have 2 5s 5000mah 25c packs I use on my Truggy as well as 2 4s 4000/5000 30c/25c respectably. Some hulls I have taken interest in; Found a nice looking one at nitrorcx... http://www.nitrorcx.com/99b-10021-650-ep-kit.html As well as an off brand on eBay... http://cgi.ebay.com/32-3-EP-Fibregla...#ht_4353wt_905 How hard would it be to make something like this achieve 50+ mph? Or something like this? 50+ mph on water, is it difficult? It’s just a hull, so brand should really matter right? RIGHT? My lake is really big and calm in the morning and at night, like glass (perfect for wakeboarding ) and I have a boat so I can retrieve it, if necessary. I’m up there almost every weekend (this summer at least) and like the idea of being on the water AND doing rc at the same time (both great love's of mine) Again, I have 4 and 5s packs, so hull that can run that would be perfect, basically, I’m just wondering what would be good for me as I have no idea on rc boats. They don’t have any gears or reduction so prop size, motor kV and voltage are probably the only factors to consider for speed"?? (Minus water drag, and weight... ECT) I’m only running this guy during the summer, and late spring early fall months so not looking to break the bank on this, kits would be better as I do have some brushless equipment here and radios so not really looking for the RTR electronics. Also, should I consider other hull types and other brands, like going to Wal-Mart and finding a nice sized plastic model and reinforcing it? Fibreglass is preferred but I don’t really see myself hitting anything so durability isn’t really an issue on water, but I’m a complete newbie when it comes to boats, so if I’m wrong let me know!

RE: 8ight-t kit vs RTR
Get a kit, you can dial it in better to your track needs then a OEM outa the box truck. The 8t line is simply amazing, how durrable they are. I hit a pole the other day (doh) and i only stripped a spur, i was doing 40+ mph and clipped it on my arm, their is a gash in the arm, but thats all. Its amazing!

8T tear down!
Well, After seeing Mikes tear down Time lapse, I figured i should tear down my 8T as well. It'll be the first that i would be taking apart the whole vehile and so i documented it. This is 80% complete, the rest will be finished over the next few days. I started with the electronics, Unscrewing the mounting points for the servo and receiver tray motor mount and battery and esc tray.Gave those a quick wipe, and off to the side they went. Next up, was to take care of the chassis, after running 35w shock oil (i know) in the center diff, it leaked and spewed oil everywhere! The center diff is waiting on 10k oil. In order to get the chassis all by itself I had to take both diff off, front and rear respectively. The front... And now the rear With the rear diff off, the chassis was now isolated, and the cleaning could begin. And dirty it was. Good ol' windex, wd40 and elboe grease! Sweaky clean! Waiting patiently for its next bash session, featuring 5s! With the Main chassis and electronics done, it was time to tear down the front and rear ends, to inspect for damage. First was the bumper, which, clearly did what it twas' intended for. Ouch.. Removal and cleaning of all the pins... Trying to get to the diff.. There it is! Internal inspection time! I think thats a pass? and know the pinion Also looking good!, With the diff in good shape, time to screw er all back together and remount! Getting the front end all cleaned up and ready to assemble Assebly complete, Diff good, shocks good, broken hinge brace replaced, good! Moving on, to the rear wing, get it all wiped down, de-stickered and cleaned. Rear end time! a before shot, to see how nice and dirty she is! Much like the front end, tear down to isolate diff, replace as we go along.. The arms and such.. And the diff, pinion and ring gear.. Internals look ok! Still plenty of oil. It got too late yesterday, so i will continue with it today.. More pics will come.
