RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I have a wren 100 K Pro in my UF. 22lbs, 9kg dry weight. Just running 2.2L conformal as per kit plus a hopper with qty of approx 180ml ( INTAIRCO).. Flight time is around 8-9mins safely. cofg is 235mm. I feel it could go back another 5-10mm but i couldnt be bothered moving the ecu battery aft more since i have made a cradle which sits inside the wing access hatch and i connect it when putting wing on. No Aux wing tank needed if you run a 22lb turbine. As per Dave's Video its a slippery model, and mine gets off very quick and continues to accellerate no problems there. My two cents from own experience.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Finally had time and awesome weather to fly my UF- shes a winner. 4 good flights. C of G i flew at was 235mm aft of L.E. Factory suggestions re aileron throws and down elev were too excessive. Only run 15-18mm flap for T/O and 60mm for Landing. perfect, 22lbs thrust ( Wren 100 K pro). weight is 9kg dry. flight times are around 8.5 mins running stock conformal tank plus Intairco Hopper only. very slippery, she moves around with a great turn of speed. Not sure how to add pics, but i have a customised checkers scheme. Looks the business!!

DW, Much more progress on your UF with the P80SE? Eagerly waiting to hear how it went like everyone else im sure. I have my UF due anytime now in a customised scheme and colour, im looking at a Wren 100 for power. Having not seen a UF fly or flown one yet, im really looking for performance with a light set up though. i do think the 100 would be super economical without running wing tank ( i'd est 7 mins min flight time utilising taxi tank prior to take off). I guess time will tell to see if your new model has near the "vertical punch" the p120 powered setup has. I do want to be able to perform rolling loops, knife edge circles etc with confidence off the 22lbs+ pumped out the back. Look forward to reading your review... Cheers, Stephen

L-39 will be easy to fly. Get it airborne. Been flying a Savex L-39 for 4 years now. So smooth and predictable. You would enjoy the bigger one equally as much. None of these jets are difficult, its a mis-conception. Its just some people make it look terribly challenging

RE: Wren Users
I know weight is weight, but from experience dont waste your time with the wand. If you can fit the FOD screen and starter set up on your engine in your installation for 5oz, do what we do with the manual start turbines- just have an external battery pack with a deans plug or a neat electrical plug of your choice with the other end obviously soldered into the wire going to the starter motor. works a treat. Install a micro switch so you can vary the speed/ initiate spooling the turbine on start or whilst cooling proportionally to pressure when depressed. Wand works fine, but its a lot easier to pop your hatch, connect the external battery up and start/ cool turbine than fiddle around trying to make square contact with the wand on the compressor nut. My 2 cents worth. Cheers.

RE: Tips on landing a Bandit ARF
full flare on landing with sufficient airspeed sounds like your nose heavy. Roll aircraft inverted at altitude and if it pitches towards ground= nose heavy. adding more elev deflection is great, but why fight the model. If you use crow and come in too slow with the FWD c of G you will also run out of elevator which will make a mess of your struts and flex plates, hopefully saving your wing cavity around gear. Test your c of G on the bench again, test in air also. i would bet your nosey for sure. Goodluck.

RE: MX22 programming help
Agree, same as pilott28. I utilise flight phases: i name mine 1) Normal 2) Launch 3) Landing. also take advantage of the time delay to deploy flaps through modes for sure, which is easily achieved. Easiest way is to pre- set up switch selection and flight phase switch positions/ time delays etc then go through the control adjust menu to set travel when each phase is selected as per Dave's comment.. flaps would be channel 6 and 7 from memory.

RE: My First Jet (Rookie 2)
flight phases are pretty easy, you can even set up time intervals for deployment of functions ie speed brake deploying or canard brake deflection even allowing wing mixing programming to program any neg /pos elevon reflex needed to trime for hands of flight with braking flight phase active. i use a JR 10X also, but have changed mainly for jets to my MX-22 which enables easier mixing which gets you in the air faster too yet it is all perfect! NAh cant make Adelaide, was over there for the golden era racing 3 weeks ago. Im originally from perth so i would have flown at my local jet meet which i hear was a success last weekend. Looking to fly at Coolum Jet meet in June since im now living in brisbane due to work.

RE: My First Jet (Rookie 2)
Finished my rookie with vectored thrust etc powered by TJT 3000 in March. C of G i have is 127mm forward of main spar, inverted flight requires no down elevator which revealed this CG was spot on. Excellent to fly, no speed brake only using canard deflection (Trailing edge down) to slow model down which i only have used a few occasions. i Run MX-22 also, but joined my elevons together with internal carbon fibre joiner and aeropoxy- tough as nails! driven by 2 Jr DS 8425 servos. Run 4 flight modes 1- Normal. 2- aerobat ( Vectored thrust) 3-aerobat 2 (morelively vectored thrust) , 4-landing (canards). You will find you will fly with vectored thrust active most times- model is a treat to fly and can be flown low slow and tight to the ground with great stability with the very effective canard and vectored thrust mixing. Also my elevon movement is +/- 25mm and 20% expo. with 15% expo on the roll side of the equation. Typical delta which feels a bit more lively in pitch. Good job,Enjoy.

RE: JR/ Graupner MX22
I have been using a JR 10x for 5 years now and also have used a MX 22 aswell for the past 18 months. two excellent radios, but i would have to say i prefer the software in the MX 22. Predominantly the 10X i use strictly for Jet flying and pattern aircraft. The 10X is the re-nowned choice by jet pilots as we all know and suits the needs of any jet modeller with ease of mixing etc. Have just started flying jets now on the MX 22. What can i say. With programming of flight modes easier than the 10X, assigning channels to switches done with the press of a button it does make programming the most complicated jet model quite easier once the use4r becomes familiar with the software. 10x is fantastic, if you want more "at your finger tip" programming versatility the MX 22 is the go. i do prefer the MX 22 by far. just my 10 cents worth. RE: Airframe ideas needed for Wren turboprop.
There may be a large PC-9 being developed over here in Aus. Suit Wren turbo prop. Been on the drawing board for probably 2 years. No more information is known as yet. maybe look out for this one in the next year or so, i believe it will happen juts is a matter of time to produce, test and then kit something of this size. Would be a very nice choice as per Maverick's suggestion. Cheers

RE: Extra 2X2
Great Mark. With the C of G wide open to "user comfort" I will start at 90mm i think and work my way back. Although i like a slightly tail heavy aircraft, I certainly will be taking my time to set the model up thoroughly to ensure perfection through 3D to general IMAC/F3A styled flight usage. Certainly have been impressed with the kit. Yeah i certainly agree with the use of strong adhesives throughout fitting out. Aeropoxy has done the job well once again! Glad you agree with my rudder servo choice. had a spare newie laying around so certainly saves more money. Adds up quick on this one thats for sure, but damn worth it. Look forward to more flight reports/ good news Stephen

RE: Extra 2X2
How did you go with finding the correct C of G for your set up Mark? Interested to know since i hope to fly mine within the next couple of weeks. Weapon of choice was a ZDZ 50 NG running a bisson wrap around muffler. Should be good. used JR 8425's on elevator and the ailerons. Got a new JR 8411 lying around so will utilize this for rudder control. Any one using the 8411 on rudder as recommended by Comp-arf? Indecisive on whether to step up to an 8511. Would have thought the 8411 to be recommended would be extremely more than enough. i guess most of us aeromodellers just over servo our aircraft for piece of mind. i certainly can endorse this through my jets! More output is always safer.! Stephen

Hi all. What pilots are you all using in the Skymaster Hawk? Hard to find an appropriately sized pilot. 1/5 scale is too big, 1/6th scale seems alright but a little small. Anyone found a suitable pilot around the place? Looked all over the internet without success. Sure you all would have come across something. Thanks. Stephen

RE: MW 54 MK III & Harpoon Combo...
We have a collective group over here in Aus flying the Wren Mk 3 turbine. Awesome bit of equipment indeed. One of our flying crew flies a rookie with the mk 3 Wren installed. Is fantastic. it's not too fast, but not to slow. A perfect beginner combination. Certainly has more than enough get up and go despite the larger/dragier airframe with flight times of approx 10mins safe running from 2 litres of fuel. No problems at all.
