RE: 84
I agree if I'm using floats that are practical to use on snow. The ones on the Quaker aren't, I don't think they are strong enough to take the hit coming in tail low and all the weight settling on the rear part. I do have planes with stronger or plastic floats that I do land on snow with but we only get a good snow every few years here.

Floats are a great idea. We don't get enough snow for skis....

RE: i dont know im bored
No, I've been flying airplanes since 8 years old and helos since 20 and I'm 53.... I bought 5 new helos this summer and more than that many planes... I don't seem to be slowing down. And having the varied type items keeps it interesting.

RE: ultra sport 60 twin???
I would not put that much right thrust in. And you don't need any outward thrust for the left motor, torque on that side does it already. A little down is also nice on most planes.

RE: ultra sport 60 twin???
But 46's or 50's would be better. I would consider 40's as a minimum.

Not enough, 40's at a minimum, 46's or 50's would be much better.

RE: New P-38 or maybe a F-82
Not interested in a Bronco though... F-82 would be preferable, P-38 is a close second, then after that maybe a Tigercat but that's my short list. Thanks Carlos.

With .75's??? Too small and to be honest not that nicely made. Semi, no not even semi scale.

RE: New P-38 or maybe a F-82
I have to say up front that I had one of the very first of the first versions and they have been improved since mine. The retracts were totally useless. The were very corroded and could not be use in any way what so ever. I sent the original set back to Andrew and he replaced them with new ones that were semiuseable. I rebuilt the mains and tossed the nose one in the garbage, and used a Spring-air. Even at that the wire is very soft and I have to rebend them almost every flight no matter the landing AND i know not to fly off grass as the gear and the frame could not stand a grass landing. The gear is the single most problem with my P-38. The stab attachment is not molded in with the correct incidence. About 3/8" of down thrust is needed for level flight. This was fixed on the V2. The seams of the fiberglass had to be redone, the split and had gaps and areas were the seams were not even bonded. Almost all the hardware including tanks and motor mounts had to be tossed. Junk, worse than typical Chinese stuff. That's the complaints and to be fair I have to tell you the good stuff too. THE PLANE FLIES FANTASTIC, even with the odd down trim the plane tracks super and handles great. On the box it says two .46 2 strokes and two .75 2 strokes really makes it go. Cheap. Mine, the first of the V1's was under $600 with retracts. Notice I didn't say a good value because with all the problems It took me 6 months to put this "ARF" together and I have quite a few scratch and kit builds under my belt. At times I thought it would have been easier to build a short kit. I've flown it occasionally (it has maybe 20-25 flights on it) on war bird days and stuff and I have two really good, first flip reliable motors. I would really like to have a better quality bird to transfer it in and the smash the plane over a trash can... The problem is there are only a few P-38's of this size and no F-82's that I know of. Kit or ARF.

New P-38 or maybe a F-82
I'd like to take my gear out of my V1 KMP P-38 and put it into a new, better quality, plane. Any recommendations for a twin 60-75 size plane?

RE: Twin engine fuel tank question
Yes and pretty far because a gas motor carb has a built in pump to draw the gas.

RE: feedback on servos
34 gram servo is full size, way too big for a 450 or even a 500. What are you looking for and we can make some recommendations.

RE: What do you recommend for a first slope plane?
First I have to ask if they understand what a slope glider is, a true slope glider to me is a glider, no motor, and not a polyhedral R/E glider. It is quicker than a typical thermal glider and at least aileron elevator. After that to answer his questions I ask what his flying level is, can he handle a quick aileron elevator ship. Does he want an ARK or build a kit, maybe even a scratch build... After that I will make my offers. If a kit is in order a Talon is usually at the top of my list. If a ARF a Speedo is one of the top ones. Both are simple aileron elevator, very inexpensive and simple to set up. Very seldom will I recommend a high end composite ship but now and then someone comes along wher it may be a good fit.

RE: Vista Wing Incidence
The reason is that these are chinese made and shipped here in weather that can twist the wings before you assemble them. Because you have a certain incidence at the fuse does not mean that incidence is through out the wing. That's the reason for going over the wing with an iron to get it straight and then adding a little washout.

RE: Royal 45 ABC (OS clone)
Early to mid 80's try a 10x6... They were good engines and were popular because they were very cheap and the OS's went to .46 and got heavy and the Royals and Magnums were light.

RE: Brushless ESC speed controller question
Ferrite ring, it blocks some spurrious interference signals from causing glitching to your radio. More critical if you use 72MHz.

RE: Hobby King anyone know?
Many of their products are extremely good for the money and some items are not worth a dime. As far as their 450, there are many people flying it, the only known bad issue was the gear that transfers the power from the main gear to the belt. It is not on a knurled shaft or pinned and the gear would come loose. There is a lot of info on RCG about this helo. Do a search fro HK450 and you'll find a lot of info.

RE: Screaming Demon big block bash
That was when I took it up to the speed run Vic had. I ran it but decided not to fly it that day... She gets charged and checked once or twice a year in case I get the bug to go fly her.
