Well, start chasing milkduds! The tamiya f201 is 4wd! Lol. This may get very interesting. It is the most hi tech too, has 4 wheel independent suspension with inboard shocks like the revo.

Miami, I can imagine that mugen is on rails! Maybe your a bit spoiled haha. I was always interested in those 1/8 onroad cars but unfortunately this area isnt a real rc racing mecca by any stretch. What kv is the mamba system in your mugen? Im also wondering how cars like the tamiya f104's handle being overpowered. Obviously small, light and rediculous power is the way to breaking speed records. Im wondering if one of those or even one of the dragsters would be fun.
ORIGINAL: Mysterious
ORIGINAL: ElectricGuy007 Id rather spend $1000 on something else. For that price you can buy 2 Tamiya TRF kits that are actually superior in every aspect at half the price. Where would you run a 100 MPH car anyways, a drag strip maybe? Or maybe a real nascar track. It will be a challenge to find somewhere to run a big car like that.[:o]
Agreed.... is it cool its that fast? Sure... but how often are you gonna use it? I'd rather drop that $1000 of a new Savage or Losi 8ight-T truggy and a quality balsa airplane like a Slick or GP Yak or Edge... or even a high end crawler.... you'd get more use outta those for what they're built for
I agree, you will get more use out of the savage or whatever monster truck you pick. But most of us either have a monster truck of our choice, or had one, and got bored with it, or dont have any interest it. We all knew what we were buying, and did so willingly cause its what we wanted. Thats the beauty of the hobby, plenty of choices.

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
ORIGINAL: The_Shark
ORIGINAL: supafastsupra2 Your best bet for tires in the foreseeable future is going to be either: a. GRP 1/8 GT tires (which have been proven to work very well for the buggies) with jacked up suspension on the XO-1 b. Having BSR make some cap tires for you using the stock Traxxas rims. Since this is such a niche product, I doubt any of the usual Traxxas 3rd party vendors will be designing tires for it. Jaco makes foams for the Rustlers and such because it is a VERY popular car with an obvious need for better tires than the stock Anaconda garbage tires. I doubt Jaco would even turn an appreciable profit by R&D'ing a line of foam tires specifically for the XO-1. And you can forget pro-line as they don't have any experience with producing high speed rated tires. Also @ TheShark, I would really love to see your HPI F1 do 100mph without issues. I'd buy one if it could reliably handle the speed for the sheer novelty of it being an F1 car [:D]
maybe sometime this week i will get my f1 going with a onboard camera. im not going to try to hit 100mph yet as i want to keep it a little while longer[:D] but i will gear it up to maybe 65-75mph. if the ground effects do thier job in this scale, it should become more stable at speed, and so far i think thats the case because it just slices a streight path. im also going to see if i can get a cheap radar with my tax return.[;)]
What kind of F1 car do you have? I was always interested in them but the roadways and parkinglots arent too forgiving around here.

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
I have not had the oportunity to test the car much at all. It snowed the night before I bought the car. When I did drive it, it was locked, the lot had ice patches, and was covered in road salt. Even with these terrible conditions, the car felt grippy, and the tires were warm after the run. The batts finish voltage was 4.1 so you can tell how short the test drive was. I'm going ti the local airport this weekend and the temps are supposed to be in the hi 40's low 50's so we will see. I will try to get some video, but cant promise anything. -Chris

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
Around here the roads just arent nice enough for a 1/10 scale hi speed car. I had an hpi r-40 years back with an os .18tz. that car could hit around 70 but was on the verge of undrivable. I also had an ofna gtp that handled very well, but that was before brushless, and struggled to hit 70 with a 2-speed and a hot motor. My whole reasoning for buying this car was cause I was going to do a max effort sl4ash, but then I would have to convert it back and forth every time I wanted to do on/offroad. This eliminated that need. Tires, I have an old set of ofna GTP treaded street tires here, and they are only slightly smaller than the XO's And I do remember the slicks for the gtp were a bit taller, and were belted. I wonder if they would be a softer compound.. Miamizfinest, I am not admitting guilt, but I do appologize for arguing with you cause its gotten us nowhere. for what its worth

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
Im sure there will be aftermarket support in the near future for the tires. The obvious pro's for the car are: 1) aerodynamics 2) loads of room for battery configurations and powertrain options Cons: 1) castle late on the CLL software patch release 2) radio requires iDevice 3) cant change radio (esc wont cooperate) [CLL should resolve this] 4) iffy tires If the CLL update works as planned that should eliminate the issues I know of accept for the tire issue. The car has been out for a month, lets give the aftermarket guy's a little time to develop some other choices

When you say "point proven", you are implying fact, not opinion. Thats all Im saying. And yes, I also frequent the traxxas forum and have also noticed the guy mentioning he needed tires. He stated the wear was not from top speed runs but from constant burnouts. And the other statement you made that the people on thatforum are running low speeds cause of the tires is just flat out untrue. They have all stated they were doing so beacause they wanted to get familiar with the car and/or have yet to find a place to open it up. Again, why are you in this thread? You only seem content to irritate me, or any other owner. You may be right, the tires may suck. Thanks for the info, now move on unless you have some usefull or pertinent info... Thanks for trying to suck the fun out of the hobby.

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
Your verdict is hardly "point proven". Its february and 95 percent of the country is at 45 degrees or below. I think its a bit concieted to say that before a majority of owners have a chance to drive in warm weather. With that said, there is no question that the mugen you have is an awesome car. But keep in mind a) it is on foamies and b) it is a racecar with almost 2.5 DECADES of improvement and innovation. Its kinda unfair to compare it to a first run brand new car...
ORIGINAL: steed2 I honestly dont think your going to see much aftermarket support, traxxas took a gamble on a very small rc segment, and on top of it all threw in an insane price tag, attached with limit's, unless you own and apple device. I think we will see this product discontinued within 2 years (allthough parts will still be available). this is just my opinion though.
If traxxas offers a kit version it will improve sales. I love the radio for the reasons all the droid guys hate it. If other brands follow suit in this segment then it will help create aftermarket support. This isnt the first time traxxas released a revolutionary product. Remember the T-Maxx? ... Nuff said.

I find that hard to believe. And the motor/esc in the xo are nice, but im sure are second rate to what you were running before. And not to mention, no one knows the potential of these tires yet cause its frikkin WINTER... No consumer has tested these tires in weather warmer than 70 degrees! There is PLENTY of untapped potential in this chassis, and I find it irresponsable to hand down the verdict you have when the car is only a month old. Those onroad cars you mentioned have been out for a decade with very little changes besides the intro of CF. I am willing to bet $100 we see a 130mph XO by summers end.
ORIGINAL: cumminspower5.9 So guys, don't take this as a bash to the xo-1 owners, im just curious. After spending the money on it, do you really think it was a good purchase? i mean there is the theory ''you get what you pay for''. is that the case with this car?
This is a good question. And the answer im sure will vary. I for one am very happy with my purchase. Some people dont like the radio, and I can agree with others that a 'kit' version or 'pnp' would be a better option for most 'experts'. That said the only legit beef I can really align with is that you need access to an iDevice to unlock the vehicle. As far as the car is concerned, I believe that we are only scratching the surface of this platforms potential. Things will get very interesting once 8s+ surface esc's become more available. -Chris
ORIGINAL: Foxy Underwhelmed. Where are you supposed to run something like that, and what's the point of such a nice body if you can't see it when it's running? Silly model, but hey, people who want fast shiny things and have more money than sense are gonna love it. They'll run it up and down the street a few times, then even they are going to say...er, what now? All I can say is I hope the body fits on a proper hobby grade 1/8th-1/7th GT car. Oh, and as for 'Ready to Race', yeh my local track has a rampant 1/7th GT class, and there's enough room on the straight to reach 60mph...oh, wait...
I dont understand why you are spreading so much hate around. There are thousands of youtube videos of people running 6s revo's and MMP's in slashes and powerful setups in infernos trying to best eachother for speed records and such. This car is marketed to them. Then you ask where do you drive something like that? Well the answer is the same places theyve been driving their hi-speed purpose built vehicles. The only legit beef anyone has mantioned is that you need an apple product to operate it, and I as an apple guy agree, you shouldnt have to buy an ipod to operate this... that is dumb.... But really, how expensive is a used ipod touch on ebay? If you dont like it then dont pay any attention to it! I dont want to have gay sex, but you dont see me causing problems for homosexuals.....
ORIGINAL: gokemidoro Check your clutch. It sounds like it's now locked. Maybe you have a pebble or something lodged in there.
Nope
If your car goes without throttle then your Idle Speed Screw is set too high.
Wrong
But he also states that the engine dies when he applies the brake. That's a clutch problem, my friend.
absolutely incorrect
You have to play with the throtle trim a bit and the right tune, since you are in break in i wouldnt mess around on tune too much.
getting warmer
yopur clutch spring is broke the same thing just happened to me
ice cold Stone Adams, what you are experiencing is normal. Just continue along with the recomended break-in procedure as best as possible. The problem is that the factory needle settings are very rich, meaning the engine is consuming more fuel than it effectively can. The factory sets the needles this way intentionally because it provides more lubrication during break-in, which is very important. This 'rich' setting requires more air which is why you needed to advance the throttle trim setting to keep the car running. The engine is stalling cause the carb is closing more when the breaks are applied. The engine will idle well at a lower rpm once the break-in is complete and you finish your tuning. Once the break-in procedure is complete, you will be able to tune the engine leaner, and this will make more power, and the engine will run/idle much better.

RE: Gyro (cheating?)
I just looked at the pile of garbage that used to be my big outdoor lama, and that gyro is completely different than what you need to do this. The BOL gyro mixes the throttle of the two main rotor motors to hold heading, you need a gyro designed for a conventional tail rotor equipped heli such as this: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10113 I may just pull the eflight gyro off my blade sr cause the heli is useless for anything other than taking up space/decoration.
Plug the gyro into the steering slot on your reciever, then plug your steering servo into your gyro. then mount the gyro with double sided foam tape to the car, preferably in the same plane as it was on the lama. adjust the sensitivity to your liking, and your done.

RE: New Blade SR: collective pitch!
Need some help.... I have been enjoying my sr, and my skills have been improving. The other day, while hovering indoors in a huge garage, I had a mental lapse while landing, and the rotor struck the ground lightly at the same time as the skid. The covering was slightly damaged, so a little scotch tape was all that was needed to fix that. On the next flight, I noticed that the heli required a lot more rotor speed to lift off. It had lifted off previouslu around 1/2 to 3/5 throttle. Now it requires at least 3/4 to lift off. As a newbie, the last thing I want is a high rotor speed. That means there is a lot more stored energy in the blades, and makes the bird a lot touchier to inputs. What happened? There seems to be very little collective pitch increase as throttle is added. What happened? The left knob on the controller (collective adjustment) is still dialed all the way to the left. All linkages are good, the feathering shaft is fine, and the blades are tracking perfect. Could there be something wrong with the mixer? PLZ help.... -Chris

Need help.. canceling bh order, buying from hobby-lobby !
I ordered the BH f-35 LightningII JSF from BAnanna hobby. That order is being canceled. I was on Hobby lobbies website and woah! I am impressed with the aircraft and that they sell them as airframe only as well. I like the F-35, and think I will order the one with the 360* TV. I need help completing the aircraft. I know which controller I want, but dont have much experience with BL motors or ESC's. This is where I need help. I want a fast stable aircraft, but dont need to break any records or anything. The airframe only version comes with retracts, the fan unit (70mm), and the TV tail nozzle. BL motor, esc, batt, servos, reciever etc are chosen by the modeler. So what do you guys think? what is a good motor/ecs/batt combo?
