RE: Who makes this outboard drive?
I just found out that ob was the skeleton of an mrp outboard.

RE: Who makes this outboard drive?
Yes, but who made it? I held one of these in my hand once and it felt flimsy enough to be crushed by hand. Who knows, maybe it could be the fastest outboard leg available!

RE: Ck this out
ORIGINAL: Hydro Junkie That's not as fast as an Unlimited Hydroplane. They can easily top 200 in a straight line and do it with a single 16" prop driven by a 2700 HP helicopter turbine routed through a gear box that reduces shaft speed from 100K at the engine down to around 15K at the prop
The first vid of the outboard is the fastest gasoline propeller driven boat to my knowledge. The second vid was the water speed record (well over 300mph). Top fuel hydros (essentially the water equivalent of a top fuel dragster) holds the propeller driven boat record going over 260 mph in a quarter of a mile. Don't know if they use the same engine as a top fuel dragster (which is 10,000 hp) but they run on nitromethane. Top fuel hydros can kick the cr#p out of Unlimited Hydroplanes in every regard except for turning and being able to run over 6 seconds.

RE: Ck this out
Damn that is a fast cat. Faster but less ocean worthy is this. Supposedly easily exceeded 190 mph during testing and could have done over 200 but was damaged. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLDM1kE8pVw&feature=related And that was like 30 years ago. Then even faster, but not propeller driven was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezl8Yb8idyY

RE: getting started
Take a look at the vids of the mono unlimited from fastrcboat.com. It is an ass kicker for a mono. Siberianhusky is right, tunnel hulls are extremely hard to set up correctly. However, they are really fun to run once set up correctly.

RE: getting started
Fastrcboat.com pretty much specializes in boats that are designed to be tinkered with. If you want to get a mono, get their mono unlimited. They are also coming out with a tunnel that can be upgraded.

RE: getting started
If the water is flat, get an outboard tunnel. If it is choppy, you need a mono. I've always liked outboard tunnels because they have great performance, and the motor is easily accessible. Also, there is no shaft that goes through the boat so leaking is far less likely. Are you planning on running nitro or electric? And how are the water conditions?

What is the fastest tunnel hull?
What is the fastest tunnel with a stock 3.5 cc outboard? I listed a couple possible candidates below. I'm looking for straight line speeds on flat water. Aquacraft VS1 Lynx Leecraft DPI Hobby tunnel ML Boatworks 295 Any others?

RE: Electric airboat for sale
The airboat is 14 inches by 6 inches. It goes about 10 mph, enough to get onto a nice plane. It is too fast and has too wide a turning radius for a pool. Needs a small lake or large puddle.

Haha, I don't work for them! I just heard this as I was buying a different boat from fastrcboat. I am being vague because-well, I don't really know much about it. We'll just have to wait and see when it comes out. All I know is it does 25 out of the box and has "long" run times.

It is in north palm beach Florida. I'll take $70 for it (which includes the airboat, the transmitter, the charger, and two batteries). I don't know how to post pics here, but I could post them on my eBay account and give you the link.

You talking about the one from Hobbyking? I would use 3S or 4S. I wouldn't go 5S with that motor.

New tunnel hull concept
It seems that electric boats either have long run times but poor performance or short run times but amazing performance. Fast RC Boat is releasing a tunnel (the F1 Unlimited) which has both long run times and good performance. I heard it utilizes a modified REK outboard leg and an efficient brushless motor. It want be a racer out of the box from what I've heard, but it can easily be modified.

Yes, that would be the solution. Try the stock prop that came with the outboard. It'll give you less propwalk

RE: tunnel hull turning
The torque of your prop is most likely the cause . Try easing up on the throttle slowly and see if that helps. Also trim your steering to full speed operation.

RE: Which boat would you get?
Clearly the stiletto will not be capable of speeds seen with ML boatworks racing boats. But they are not ready to run, are they? I have heard the stiletto can approach speeds of 45mph, but I know the ps295 will almost do 70. Also, what do you mean by UL1 setup? I'm looking to get a ps295 for when the new REK legs come out, and on the website it says use a UL1 motor, and I have no idea what that is. Do they mean the same motor the aquacraft UL1 superior uses?

RE: hull help
That's a tough one. Deep Vee's are slugs compared to other hydro hulls, but they cut through the water much better. A rigger would be the fastest, and the cat would be somewhere in between. What speeds is he looking to get? What is his definition of "fast"?
