RE: 100MPH HPI RS4 3 EVO+ ????
You'll find this out when you run it, as I've tried a far spaced two speed like you're trying. when it hits second it's going to bog the engine and not accelerate anymore. If you have a high gear ratio that is... I had better results keeping just a two tooth difference between 1st and second and lowering the ratio by way of changing pulleys on my old RS4. But in the end single speed proved to be the most consistent.

RE: 100MPH HPI RS4 3 EVO+ ????
Knowing what to buy saves money, I'm about 600 into my RS4 3 evo and 400 of that is the engine. 102mph, done. (to be fair I use the same radio on 4 cars, just had to buy servos and a reciever) [image]http://i46.tinypic.com/2n1byqf.jpg[/image]

Again depends on the speed you're trying to stop from.

RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
Depends what you're doing and what MPH you are trying to stop from. The stock plastic brake will melt quick if you're stopping from 70+ mph. I personally use steel plates with a steel disk, stops me from 90+ real easy without locking up. Fiber will work too, but I toasted that as well it just glazed over and got shiny and lost stopping power.

RE: ofna ultra lx2 question
Agreed on the fit and finish, I have a hyper 7 and a mugen buggy and there is more play in the hyper 7's parts, but I fixed that with washers all over the place, granted that is something not everyone would do to "fix" the imperfections of the cheaper buggies. As far as durability, I haven't broken much on either buggy besides some bent shock towers and lower bulkheads through the years.

RE: ofna ultra lx2 question
To a point of course... lets take an example. What part of a mugen MBX-6 can I NOT adjust on let's say a hyper 7? I can agree the "cheaper" buggies don't come "race-ready" but what is race race when it's up to the drivers style and the track? Is anything really race-ready on the day of the race? Sure I have to change the shock oil, adjust the springs, change the diff oil, adjust the camber etc... on a cheaper buggy. But who doesn't do that on a high end buggy? part of the fun in this hobby is tuning your car to run best for you. If I handed you a buggy I set up, you may not be able to drive it around the track efficiently, same if you handed me one of your buggies, now how would that be the cars fault? :) I can agree that an engine/motor is very important and you shouldn't cheap out on that. I can also say that I wouldn't stray from the top manufacturers just for part support. Ofna is a great example of affordable buggies that perform and can take a beating, when you adjust them to do so.

RE: ofna ultra lx2 question
It's the driver 90% of the time, look at all the buggies from cheapest to highest and try to point out to me where the supposed super advancement is that will make you a better driver? it's all plastic and metal, camber, toe, shock oil, tires and diff fluid... it's up to you to set it up right. there is nothing "out of this world" about high end buggies and some of them are even heavier than their "cheap" cousins. at the end of the day you can make ANYTHING hang with ANYTHING if you set it up right and are a good driver. People get sucked into the marketing with RC cars so bad thinking they need to spend a crazy amount of money to compete. I've been messing with RC cars for 15 years I've had everything I can tell you that I can setup a cheap buggy to run with a mugen BUT!!!! if you can't drive that is on you.

Mini, I'm in the U.S, new jersey. I have pics of the chassis in another thread, didn't actually use it yet ironing some things out with the car still. The CF chassis is not a good idea for just driving around testing the engine will most likely overheat. (worse than it does already lol)

This is the sheet I bought... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carbon-Fiber-Graphite-Woven-Sheet-Panel-9-x12-x3-0mm-/160536181158?pt=Radio_Control_Vehicles&hash=item2560b3b9a6 It's 3mm thick 9" x 12". I don't have too much left over after cutting out the chassis, but enough to make stuff like shock towers and a top plate for the center.

I just bought a 3mm sheet of ready done CF off ebay. I have spare pieces left off from the chassis I can make shock towers with etc... All I have is a dremel, drill and a bunch of bits/sanding drums etc.. you can make them yourself out of the sheet just make a template. :)

I can throw a bigger spur on it and see how high she revs, and I probably will, just have to order an extra con rod just in case lol. took a quick pick of how it currently sits, made a new top plate for the center out of some 3mm CF. RE: HPI RS4-3 102mph run!
The engine I am sure is good for around 40k, but yes I can tell you it's not peaking being that it gets up to around 33k only and then levels off. I can probably gear just a bit to get more RPM, but I think the engine has a much higher survival rate right now being that it isn't exactly screaming it's brains out lol I have a few possibilities to try, I will probably end up gearing down and making the car fun again instead of needing 500ft+ to play with lol. I just don't feel comfortable maxing out RPMs on this engine being that it's pretty expensive :) the way it's geared now it 'stops pulling' around 33k is a pretty safe setup for all the load I am giving it. The actual gearing is mathematically good for 105 or so but i would need to get to 35k to pull that and I don't see that happening. I am always willing to help with the car setup if you're trying something like this, just hard to throw out exactly what I've done being that there is alot of work involved and I would have to go into dremel use and shaving this and cutting that to make this fit etc... lol

Thanks! It's an RBmods novarossi flash 21, 086 ofna pipe, 30% O'donnells speed blend, final gear ratio is in the 2.4's with 65mm 45 shore foam tires.

RE: HPI RS4-3 102mph run!
33k is exactly right and the engine isn't reaching it's peak but I think it's pretty much peaked out versus the load at that speed I don't hear the rpm keep rising anymore after a certain point. I don't run out of road, the engine just levels out and maintains speed. Yes this is the shaft drive RS4-3 EVO SS whatever they want to call it lol. I like the zero rolling resistance over the belt drive cars plus I haven't seen anyone do this with this particular car. Going to have to keep the gearing to myself for now, you understand ;) But it's all custom fit/dremel'd/cut/drilled stuff. I also had the savage manifold cut and welded to my specs for a nice fit in the chassis and high rpm power. [image]http://i46.tinypic.com/2n1byqf.jpg[/image]

HPI RS4-3 102mph run!
Awesome runs today! got a vid of the car hitting 102mph finally! I'm more excited about this than putting the belt drive rs4's into the 100's. Since it's shaft drive and I haven't seen anybody try this on the rs4-3. Alot of custom work done on this car! woooohoooo!! RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
Like I stated above, It's just losing it's play in the steering as the speed gets higher the wheels don't wiggle around anymore they stay rigid. So the trim that works while moving slow will not work while moving fast, my trim is bias to the left so when I am driving slow my car always pulls just a bit to the left but when it gets up to speed it's straight as an arrow. no biggie, run your car full throttle and see which way it wants to go then set the trim to counter that.

RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
just set your trim for straight at full speed, there is some play in the steering and when you get up to speed it forces it one way or the other and stays there, I would reccomend getting the aluminum steering arms, less play. trying out this body! fit's nice! hope it doesn't lift.

RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
So I took the .28 out, and threw the .21 nova in, still messing with the gears and tune it's not really screaming up top but I'm fine tuning it. Going to try a different plug as well, I'm running OD 97t and I got some 99t's to try. I got some decent runs in today in the heat (88* outside), I think when it cools down outside I will get some good ones in! Btw I am not running a body on this one, it runs great without the body, no lift at all.

RE: r/c supercharger
Are you serious? I'm not even dissing I am just asking for data... The point is you need to have something to prove if you want to sell this product. Don't you realize people will want to see data? I don't understand how you're getting mad at a potention customer wanting data. So far the only 'fact' you gave me was you beat your buddies car. what does that even mean? How can you get mad at my logic? you're not making any sense. Who would spend money without having data on the product? I guess you don't want to sell me one, do you? I really hope you have another business partner because you're not cut out for sales. Take my stock RC out? another misinformed comment from you. Talk to me when you get a 10th scale car to 100mph with a .21 engine without a supercharger. Plenty of people have done this before me, so it's not even all that rare, but with a supercharger never seen it.
