RE: Sickle (V-2)
We are having exceptional weather right now and as luck would have it, Archie Stafford was in town. Archie was nice enough to fly my Sickle and make recommendations on little things that need to be done to improve the way it fly's. Thanks again Archie for taking the time to help me with this new build. Regards, -Richard Felkins.

RE: Lightning Build
Jeff, How do I request a copy of your drawings and how much do you want for them? FYI, I escaped the heat in Phx. when I joined the AF in 1974. Regards, -Richard.

RE: Sickle (V-2)
The maiden flight went well today, thanks to Steve Dente for the honors. I packed up after 10 or so flights and you know that I am very happy. After all of the work done before me by all of you - the balance worked great on the first flight. The proscribed 2 degrees of down trim and the down lines were straight as an arrow. Thanks for all of the information, it allowed a short build to produce excellent results. -Richard.

RE: Sickle (V-2)
About the canopy mounting system that comes with the kit that I could not figure out. I cut out my own hold down hooks similar to a BVM product used on jets and that took care of the canopy hold down system. -Richard.

RE: Sickle (V-2)
I will be ready to maiden next Sunday. I had a friend over to hold while I checked the motor run on the Scorpion. Drawing 84 amps using an APC 20x10 at around 3200 watts, enough for the Sportsman Pattern. My scale is not that accurate and it was reading just below 11 lbs, but I don't really care. Going back to the garage to check, match and limit throws - set the incidence earlier today. How many degrees of throw on the rudder, ailerons and elevators did most people settle on? -Richard.

RE: Sickle (V-2)
Bob, I was going to square the pilot holes up at some point to get more air flow through the motor. This is one of the few front mounts I have had the pleasure of setting up, and they are just a little easier. -Richard.

I should be done with my motor mount tonight and can move on to more fun things. Without trying to be redundant, I sure like this plane so far. I should get a couple of pictures up this weekend. -Richard.

RE: Sickle (V-2)
Thanks Mike. I have the landing gear mounted, I am so impressed they include gear with an "aero" shape, nice touch. I'm getting the motor mount setup now and the progress is good with the large open hatch area. The people that went to Haikong 8 years ago and showed them the correct way to build light, strong and also lay down some great covering film really shows. -Richard.

RE: Sickle (V-2)
The BIG box arrived a few hours ago and I can tell you Fed-EX does not know how to read the word "Fra-gee-lay". The cardboard outer box must have been used as the center piece in a kick boxing contest. The inner wood crate was split and half open, but miraculously the contents are so well packed everything seems to have come through unscathed. A quick look at all the parts shows better quality than I can produce and I am very happy with what I have received. It will take me a few weeks to get the plane ready to fly and then I will report what I think about how it all went. -Richard.
ORIGINAL: mups53  Richard you won't regret it. It is the best value out there right now that's available. Mike
I was looking at a local pattern plane that was available recently but the timing wasn't right. A small windfall and Chris' incentives made this happen before Christmas this year. All I can say is, "I'm excited about getting the Sickle", it has been a year in the making. -Richard.

RE: Sickle (V-2)
ORIGINAL: burtona Sprktrum AR9000 with 2 satellites and never any problems. Since they made provision for 2 satellites I don't know why you would ever use any less in an expensive plane (or a cheap plane for that mater). The receiver wea mounted on a tray in front of the rudder servo. One 24'' satellite as far back as possible with velcro on the fuselage side, other one mounted on the bottom between the RX and motor batteries Dave Burton
Thanks Dave

Lets see, in 1977 I was stationed at Kadena AFB as a 461. Those were fun times. The A-10 is still my favorite and I'm still looking for a good kit. -RF

RE: New Yak-54 100cc -- 15 flights later
It is a great flying plane. I am using the standard muffler cans on this one with both battery packs near the back of the canopy hatch for my perferred balance. Aeroworks called me back the next day about the missing screws, unfortunately they are charging me .33 cents each? -RF
